Chapter 1 The Journey of Outlander

Location: The fallen city of Zulum, a once-thriving metropolis that is now nothing more than a ghostly maze of crumbling buildings and overgrown vegetation. The remnants of a once bustling city are now scattered as nature slowly reclaims its territory.

Year: 2162, a century after the catastrophic event that brought civilization to its knees. The world holds vestiges of its former self, and the survivors struggle to adapt to a harsh and unforgiving new reality.

Time: Early afternoon, when the sun is high in the sky and casts long shadows on the crumbling buildings. Light shines through the broken windows, creating a mesmerizingly beautiful play of light and darkness.

Atmosphere: Dense and chaotic, as if the air itself was saturated with the weight of the past. Dust particles dance in the sunlight, giving the scene an ethereal look. The silence is broken only by the occasional creaking of metal and the distant howl of wind.

Inside Haven Heights (A tall building with panoramic views of the city that serves as a refuge for Outlander.)

"Mummy... Please don't go," the little boy begged, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"I am so sorry, my dear son, that I cannot be by your side this time. Please promise me that you will take care of yourself and fight for your survival. The world around you is different now and your strength and determination will be your best allies. And remember, trust no one but yourself," his mother said, hugging him tightly as tears welled up in her eyes. "But, Mom..." the boy protested, hoping to change her mind.

"Promise me, Jonas...promise me," she urged, firmly but full of love.

"I...promise," he stammered, not fully understanding the gravity of the situation but wanting to comfort his mother.

"Nora, time is running out. He must leave as soon as possible, otherwise his chances of survival will be low. A man's voice comes from behind, asking them to separate.

"Farewell, my beloved son. Always appreciate the knowledge of my boundless love for you. May this never disappear from your memory," she says, looking attentively into her son's face one last time. After kissing him gently on the forehead, she reluctantly lets go of the hug and turns to leave.

"No...Mom, please don't leave me... - he screams, desperately clinging to the fading remnants of sleep.

"Wayde...Wayde." A voice gently taps his arm, but because he's sleeping so soundly, he didn't want to wake up.

"Wayde, you have to get up!" The ghouls are approaching the city wall!" The moment these words reach his ears, he shudders, his body bathed in sweat.

"What did you just say?" Wayde asks, searching the remnants of his dream for evidence of reality. "Ghouls! They were spotted just a few kilometers from the border area. Their advance towards Zulum's domain is imminent," reports Zyden, bearing grim news.

Wayde is speechless and takes a few steps back to process the startling revelation. Years of relentless battle against these monsters took a heavy toll and claimed the lives of countless comrades. As the leader of the Outlanders, he carried the burden of not just the entire town of Zulum, but the entire city. That's why he couldn't afford to make mistakes under any circumstances. He should embody strength, intelligence and strategic skill.

"Spread the word to prepare everyone, for we will be going beyond the city walls," Wayde said after a brief pause.

"Beyond the city walls?!" - Zyden exclaimed, taken aback by the unexpected order.

"Yes, outside the city walls. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing," Wayde assured with conviction.

"Well, if you say so," Zyden replied, his confused expression remaining as he left Wadye's quarters. Wayde had fought for countless years and had never encountered ghouls that attacked in broad daylight. The nights were reserved for fighting and the days for rest. But now these monsters have boldly emerged under the watchful gaze of the sun.

"Damn it," he seethed quietly. Something sinister lurked outside the city of Zulum and he was determined to uncover the truth at any cost.

Wayde was a young man of unwavering spirit and determination. His appearance was as impressive as his determination. At 6'3", he has a strong and athletic physique, a testament to his constant commitment to training and self-improvement.

His piercing blue eyes sparkled with unwavering focus, reflecting the fire burning within him. Wayde's striking features were accentuated by a chiseled jawline and a bit of stubble, giving him an air of gentle strength.

His dark, tousled locks added something mystical to his overall appearance, as if reflecting the wild spirit that resided within him. Wayde's presence commanded attention, and his every move exuded confidence and purpose.

Despite all the challenges in his life, Wayde never gave up. He had an indomitable spirit and strived to face and overcome any difficulties. Each of his setbacks made him stronger and he used his determination as a catalyst for his personal growth.

Wayde ensured his protection by wearing nanocomposite fiber armor made of extremely durable and fire-resistant material. The fabric's complex composition ensured resistance to various forms of radiation, and its insulating and climate-controlled design ensured unparalleled comfort. In addition, the suit is protected against overloads, so the integrity of organs and bones is maintained even if damaged. Finally, it offered significant protection against electrical currents.

He took the laser pistol from its place on the table and made sure he had all the supplies he needed. As he turned to leave, he suddenly found himself standing still. Important things were momentarily forgotten from his mind.

With deliberate steps he reached into the hidden box under the bed and pulled out its contents.

It revealed a finely honed blade decorated with a pendant on the hilt. This loyal companion had never been by his side since his first encounter with the ghoul. His presence served the dual purpose of being a precaution in case of technical failures and a precious symbol of deep personal meaning.

This blade was given to him by the man who took him in. He provided him with both shelter and guidance, molding him into a fearsome warrior.

The pendant on the blade was a gift from his mother, it represented the last tangible connection between them, a poignant reminder of their unexpected separation. While for some the city of Zulum represented a last bastion of hope and for others a realm of excruciating suffering and endless torment, for Wayde Baxter it was a crucible of transformation where life imparted precious wisdom. It represented.

Within those limits, he evolved into something he himself could never have imagined, even over a thousand years. And here, in the arms of the city, he will exact his long-awaited revenge against the terrible enemy who set his destiny in motion.

The memory of the towering structure triggered a series of memories that took him back to the origin of his journey. Once an innocent and innocent young man, he enjoyed the sheltered cocoon of his parents' protection, blissfully unaware of the trials that awaited him. As Wayde stood in daze, memories of how it all began flashed through his mind.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.
