Married by the contract Chapter 1 At the mall

I was already so happy with the love of my life, but my brother thought I was just wasting my day in my room.

So, he has to do otherwise, or else he won't be at ease or happy, he derives so much joy and pleasure from stressing my life.

So, my brother Tony, dragged me here with him to this shopping mall just to buy a gift for his girlfriend.

I was so happy and peacefully sleeping on my soft and comfy hubby but he can't take in that fact, ugh stupid brother!

What?? Did y'all think That I am talking about my boyfriend ?

Nope! don't have any and I don't even want to have one. My hubby, the love of my life is my soft and comfy bed. I wasn't really in the mood to leave my baby for the whole day, as it was Sunday but my brother. He can be irritating. So here I am in this mall Roaming around to find a gift for their so-called proposal anniversary for my brother's girlfriend.

" Clair Help me Find a gift fast, I need to give her a gift today not next week so hurry "He shouted at me.

What the hell, Firstly he ruined my day and now he is shouting at me.

" So what! Why should I even help to find it ?? It's your anniversary so you should select a gift on your own. Why even I am bothering to help you, You dragged me all the way here for your purpose ,and now you are shouting at me It ain't gonna work with me, I am not gonna help you I'm going back, deal with it yourself" I yell back at him and started walking back.

He immediately followed me and I knew he would because he is very bad at shopping for gifts for girls.

He knows very well, that if he chooses a gift by himself then Sophia will hit him with the something.

So he has to pamper me now, and that's is the reason I shouted at him earlier.

Don't get me wrong But I am very selfish in this matter. I love my brother and his attention,

I've been his priority for the whole life but I get jealous when he ignores me for his girlfriend.

" Stop stop! Clair, my sweetie! I'm so sorry for shouting at you, I really am, but you know me I am like this, today is our anniversary and I forgot about it, Sophia will kill me if she finds out, so please help your brother! Only you knows her better than anyone else, she's your best friend! "

Yes! My brother's so-called girlfriend is none other than my childhood best friend Sophia

I'll tell you all about this another time since right now I have to help my brother.

I sighed loudly.

"I don't have any option, I've to help you, otherwise she will not let me sleep for the whole night while cursing you, And love my sleep much to miss it "

He hugs me tightly.

" You are the best Clair " I smiled as I replied "Tell me something I don't know "

After almost half an hour I selected a beautiful necklace with a small pendant for her.

I know for sure what she is gonna love So after that helped him to set up a perfect Sophia-style date, And till all of this end. it was two in the noon and we had our lunch out. When we headed back home, We saw an angry Sophia in the hall. And let me tell you angry Sophia is something you don't wanna mess with. As she saw both of us with shopping bags Yes He bought me some dresses She was fuming And we both knew that now she knew everything Tony, you are dead meat now Save yourself.

"You forgot right, I knew it! You don't love me anymore, that's why you didn't remember our anniversary and now you are hiding everything with her help 'She points at me .

" Oh no! No Sophia, it's not like that!, He speaks in his defense " So what is this? Why did you go shopping with her? Sophie questions.

It's not gonna end well for Tony, I gotta help him step in now "What do you mean Sophia Can't he go shopping with me, don't forget that firstly he is my brother then your boyfriend " She looked tense now.

" No no Clair, I didn't mean it like that and you know you are our priority and you will be forever "

Yes, I know it! And that is why I've to use this trump card to save my brother from you. They hid their relationship from me for whole six months and when I get to know about it I didn't talk to them both for whole a freaking one month. They both apologized to me but I didn't sway I was hurt so much.

They were the two closest people to me and they didn't bother to share it with me. All the time I was thinking that everything was happening to me but then I got to know that our every outing was their secret date and I was not their priority. They were just using me, But then they both promised that it isn't anything like That and that I am their priority and I will be forever, If I don't want them to be together they'll break up because They do love me And I love them both the most in the world, so of course I forgave them She hugs me tight And I answer her now Saving my brother this is all for me! I dragged him shopping with me today and look he bought me three dresses! exclaimed to change the topic now She said "So you go shopping with him and you didn't even invite me? "

" I wasn't in the mood to share my brother today besides he owes me this because he left me last Sunday to go to a movie with you " she blushes and hugs me, Tony and he mouths a thank you.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
