The talented heir of the top family was poisoned and accidentally became a stupid son-in-law that everyone despised. But after he recovered, the world was shocked because of him. His name was Lenard Welch. He was a man who was motivated to live a long and legendary life.

Chapter 1 Chapter 1

If there was one thing that Alana was good at, it was running.

So imagine her surprise when two large men caught up with her so easily and tied a rope around her wrists, announcing again that she was to be taken to the forest to participate in the mating proceedings as if she didn't hear them the first time.

She thrashed about wildly, but when they dragged her past her house, kicking and screaming, she saw the looks on her parents' faces and she stopped almost immediately. "Papa! Mama! Help me!"

She saw her father's heartbreak in two as he looked at her and she immediately felt tears well up in her own eyes. Why today of all days? Her father's birthday? "Papa..."

Her mother's shrill but somehow cold voice interrupted their exchange. "Maybe the wolf you end up with will break you in properly, seeing as we could never get you to heel." She frowned in confusion, wondering why she and her mother didn't get along, especially now, when she needed a loving mother figure to reassure her and tell her that everything was going to be okay, even when things weren't going to be okay.

She screamed and cried. "Papa, please! Don't let them take me!"

"Just do as they say, my darling dove. We will see each other again soon! I promise!" He waved reassuringly and her chest erupted into sobs, the shock of what was about to happen was sinking in: as bad as it sounded the way she put it, she was going to be raped by some male wolf that she didn't want and probably didn't suit her and was going to use her as an incubator for his pups or future heirs.

She tried fighting again but realized she was only making a fool of herself since she had almost no fight left in her at the moment. She had almost gotten away, too. The thought of being free and not just a female werewolf used for breeding purposes wasn't even in question anymore. They threw her into a truck with nine other girls who looked scared out of their wits. None of them spoke for the whole ride, just staring at each other or at the floor of the truck where they were all seated. It was depressing, and even though Alana had the will to fight, she was losing hope.

She spent the entire ride formulating a plan. She easily slid her wrists out of the ropes since they weren't being pulled so tightly anymore, but she kept the rope in her hands and kept her hands behind her, where everyone else's was.

When she felt the truck jerk to a stop and heard the sound of the two men hopping down from the truck to unload the girls, she tensed. She was getting out of there if it was the last thing she did. She wouldn't just become some compliant breeding bitch for a man that wasn't deserving of her. Never.

The second that door slid open, she jumped out, hearing the girls in the truck gasp. She ignored them and made a break for it, not really seeing what was going on since her eyes were still adjusting and she had no clue of her current surroundings. As she hesitated a heavy, furry body slammed into her, knocking her to the ground. She felt the wind get knocked out of her and the whole world was spinning before her eyes. The giant brown wolf dragged her back to the unloading spot by her shirt and she struggled the hardest she had the whole day.

This couldn't be happening! This was the best shot she had at getting away and she fumbled it. She threw her arms around, hoping that she would catch flesh for a painful scratch, but she never did. Next thing she knew, she was in heavy chains, sauntering along angrily at the back of the line of girls.

She noticed that the girl in front of her kept glancing back at her, trying to figure her out. She knew putting up as much of a fight as she did was extremely ballsy, but nobody was going to advocate for them! Their own alpha sold them out, so she had to do something.

They put her and the others into an empty, glowing white room. Even in her anger and defiance, she looked around in awe of it all. They unlocked her chains and after locking the doors, told her to untie the others. She wanted to refuse as a simple act of defiance, but her fellow sisters and captives needed her. She stuck her middle finger up at any of the walls, not sure of which one they were observing them through.

She untied every knot in the room and all of them sat down in a circle, staring at each other silently until Alana broke the solemn silence. "Might as well acquaint me. I'm 18 and my name is Alana, in case you didn't know already due to not being in my fighting classes back home."

She was glad she spoke up because another girl's face lit up a little bit and was encouraged to speak as well. "I'm Nilla. I'm also eighteen. I was in class C, so most of you don't know me well."

The other girls nodded. Class C was the lowest class, but not the most fragile or weak. It was hard to move up to B or A, but somehow Alana did move up to A and was at the top of her class. Most people didn't even notice her because she was quiet and humble, and if she had finished her tasks for the day, she would help others.

Another shy girl piped up, timidly raising a finger into the air to let everyone know she was there. "Uhm, I'm Vera. I'm seventeen and-"

The room erupted into protests and gasps. Alana was the loudest and most upset out of all of them. "You're just a child! When was your birthday?"

"L-Last month, but I don't see how that-"

"You've just turned seventeen? And they took you anyways?" The older girls who were of age were chattering quite loudly about this situation.

Alana had completely spaced out and was looking off into the distance at one of the four glowing white walls. At seventeen, she remembered not knowing anything. Of course, she acted like she did, because that's what teenagers do, but she honestly didn't. That year, she had just found out that she was presenting, which meant she was slowly gaining her own individual scent rather than that of the head of her household, her father. It was a big change because she had never been more confused in her life aside from that time. Sometimes she would smell strongly, other times she wouldn't have a scent at all. She vividly remembers older boys trying to win her affection or even touching her inappropriately, as they knew that females were extremely fertile around this period of change.

Her heart broke for Vera. Seventeen wasn't that young, but she was just sixteen a little over a month ago. Knowing the men from their rival pack, she would be the prize to be won and it put her in extreme danger. Hopefully, they weren't thrown into an all-alpha male arena. They fought dirty and could possibly kill her by accident if she got caught up.

Vera looked extremely confused. She must not know her possible fate, but all the other girls did, and that's what caused the current riot within the four white walls. A door opened that wasn't seen from the inside, and a man walked in with two guards behind him. Alana growled. She recognized him. The slicked-back silvering hair. Those piercing green eyes. The giant scar that ran from his right shoulder to his left hip peeked out of his tight shirt.

That was their alpha. The one who sold them out.
