Cheated Desire: Mistress For Hire Chapter 1 The reason why

Czarina's POV

I look at my watch and groan. I hope whoever that bastard is won't make it! I don't want to meet such a jerk! My dad's friend insists that I should meet his son because we will marry each other and my dad says that I should just try.

He's fed enough because of his friend's persistent behavior. A man is seated in the chair in front of me and he's fucking smiling to mock me. He placed his phone on the table and spoke arrogantly.

"Well, you're beautiful and I guess you're worth the fuck," he emphasizes the last word. I scoffed.

I faked my smile and decided to just finish this dinner and I'll complain to my dad as soon as I get home. "I guess Mr. Stanford is indeed a Casanova, like the tattletales say."

He laughs and just ignores the sarcasm in my voice. The way he looks at me makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel like he's stripping me inside his head.

I was waiting here for hours and all I get is a playboy and a shithead! His phone vibrates and I accidentally see the messages on his screen.

"Oh my, you saw it, right? Well, ladies love money, don't you think? At least, I'm a young and sexy sugar daddy. It's a great catch if you ask me," he stated.

Caleb's boastfulness is something that I can applaud. He really thinks women will always be flustered and happy to date a man like him. I laugh and finally! I saw that irritation in his eyes. It's my turn!

"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. Oh, no. I mean it," I mocked and chuckled.

I even made gestures to piss him off more. If he thinks that I'm the same as those cheap women he had, he's fucking wrong. I think he forgot who I was.

"I like it. I think you're doing this because I made you wait. What if..." he halts and places the hotel card key on the table.

Caleb's smirk makes me shiver in disgust. What a jerk! I grab the car and put it in his wine. His expression darkens.

"You have the audacity to make me wait for an hour in this hotel. Be thankful that your dad has someone that he considers his friend. You even brag about those cheap women in front of me. What a coward," I remark. He taps the table and those who hear it are startled. I didn't show any fear at all.

"You should be thankful that I give time to someone like you. You're not even that adorable. Just fair enough to fuck. If my dad hadn't threatened me, I'd never come here. Be thankful that I even came," he elaborated.

The tone he used was nothing but a way to save his ego. He must have realized that I'm not someone he can fool with his ordinary, smug face. He believes that he's the most handsome man in the world just because women are swooning around him.

I lean on my back and cross my legs. "I should be thankful. Oh please. You know why women are swooning around you? It's because of money. You're not even handsome. Your face is making me puke. Also, I better choose a hobo to fuck me than you. I bet that shit is just the size of a baby's weenie."

That was the last straw of his temper. He stood up and dragged me off the restaurant. I let him be. I need evidence to convince my dad that marrying his so-called friend's son is the worst idea he could do for me.

My back slammed on his car after he pushed me off. I groan in pain. Caleb was about to hit me when I raised my fist and punched his fist.

"Damn you, bastard!"

I glared at him deathly. I pointed my finger in his face. "Tell your dad that I have no plan of marrying a man like you. You're more disgusting than a narcissistic man," I asserted firmly, looking at him with anger in my eyes.

I kicked his knee and he groaned more. If he thinks that I'm weak because I'm from a prestigious, rich family, he is wrong again.

"Caleb, remember this. I'm not just a pampered heiress. I will never marry an asshole like you! I'll let my dad learn what you did to me. Goodbye!" I roared and was about to walk out but he grabbed my shoulder.

That fire in his eyes was telling me that he had lost his composure and was ready to hit me if I continued acting like this.

"You really think I'll let you leave after kicking me? I will teach you a lesson!"

What I hate the most is when people stay at their tables and the staff are just watching us. I guess his popularity and the mere fact that he's an heir were stopping them. Damn them!

I was being dragged into the parking lot outside the restaurant. I took that chance and gave him a round kick. He was startled and let go of my hand.

"Don't make me mad further. You wouldn't want to end up in the hospital, wouldn't you? I can't believe women are swooning around you. You're nothing but a pathetic asshole. Don't come near me again or else, you'll meet your end. Understood?!" I roared.

I acted like I'd punch his face but I took that chance to walk away and find my car. I walked on the right side and didn't see him.

I accidentally bumped into a man. I feel like I smacked my face against a concrete wall. I gasp and caress my forehead. I hope Caleb didn't follow me or else he'll catch me off guard.

"I'm sorry. I'm not looking in front of me," I apologize. I raised my head and saw how beautiful his cognac eyes were. What caught my attention the most was the loneliness and hatred that tainted the beauty of his eyes.

"No problem," he coldly mutters. He walked past me. I turn around and watch him. "Boss Ciandrei! I'm glad you're here now. We have to go to the airport now or else we'll be late for our flight," he says.

I guess he's the secretary. I shrugged my shoulders and walked away. I found my car and drove it off of this place. As soon as I arrived at the mansion, I went straight to my dad's office.

He saw what kind of face I have at this moment. I roared at him. "I can't believe it, dad! Ugh! He's so rude and boastful! You wouldn't believe what he told me!" I screamed. He raised his hand to stop me from yelling, then signed me to take my seat.

"Relax, honey. I know what happened. I sent one of my men to guard you. He already told me everything. I guess the rumors were true. We already did our part and I'll take care of everything. I'll speak with Caleb's father," dad says.

That cleared my head and made me feel better. I remember what Caleb said. What if he tries to ruin my life because of what I did? What if he wouldn't stop until he had me in his bed?

"Dad! I want to travel somewhere and cool my head as well. I want to unwind and... maybe he'll stop trying to hook up with me. I know he will avenge what I did to him," I suggest. My dad crosses his arms and caresses his chin.

"Are you sure that's the only reason? I know you can handle Caleb. Are you trying to run away from your training, hmm?"

I smiled and nodded. "Please dad? Just a few weeks or months. I promise I'll come home as soon as I can!"

My dad sighs. "Okay. Which country, then?" my dad asks.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
