Chapter 1 Happiness

"Come on clarke, please. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," my mother said as we sat together in the sitting room.

I rolled my eyes at her begging; this is like the 7th time she's talking about this.

I didn't want to go because:

1. It's a rich school, meaning there are going to be people who will judge you for no reason.

2. I was a broke girl; I didn't have fancy clothes or fancy shoes.

3. I just didn't want to go.

"Mom, come on. I really like it here, with you, not with people I have to act for them to like me," I mumbled with a smile.

Mom let out a breath before shaking her head.

"I'm going to die soon, Clare. The only thing I want from you is to go to that school and, I don't know, make me happy. Please," Mom said softly, grabbing my hand in hers.

I looked into her blue and black eyes; we both have matching eyes.

I am honestly obsessed with my eyes.

Especially when a lot of people comment about it.

I was my mom's second, same hair, same eyes and smile height.

Everything about my Mom is me.

"First of all, don't say this again," I mumbled.

"Second, I'll go, as long as it makes you happy. But how will I get my things, bags, books, and everything?" I asked.

"Well, I didn't tell you this, but before your father died, he left money for you, and now that you are 18, you can have access to it now," Mom whispered with a chuckle when I looked at her with wide eyes.

"How much?" I asked softly.

"Up to a million dollars," she mumbled, looking away.

"Mom!" I yelled while throwing my arms up.

"I'm sorry, okay," she whispered.

"So you made us go through all this? And you had the money?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

She gave me a smile which made me confused.

Yes, my Mom is crazy, and it makes me surprised because I don't have that crazy character like her.

"Come on, let's get ready. We need to give you a new hairstyle, new phone, new books, bags, and everything," she said happily, racing towards the door.

"Come on, Clare, let's go!" she yelled while wiggling her waist.

Shaking my head, I smiled at her, then walked towards her.

All this is just for her happiness, nothing more.
