Never in Linsey's wildest dreams did she imagine the first time she met her husband of three years was in bed. She expected that they would begin to live like a real couple afterward, but Bryson didn't recognize her. He mistook her for a prostitute and hated her to the bone. Linsey thought their paths would never cross again after the divorce. However, it turned out that fate was playing tricks on her. She ended up becoming the legal counsel at Bryson's company. Finally, Bryson recognized her. He fell head over heels in love and couldn't help saying, "Stay with me, Linsey." "What?" Linsey couldn't believe her ears. "Mr. Higgins, weren't you the one who showed no concern about me? Besides, I'm just resigning. Why are you making a big deal out of it?" Bryson was torn between swallowing his pride and losing her forever or confessing his love for her. In the end, it turns out that falling in love comes with great battles. Would he win her back against all odds?

Love Renewed: Winning Back His Ex-wife Chapter 1 Unpleasant First Meeting

Linsey Wheeler sat on the bed, lost in thought. Suddenly, she was snapped back to reality by a man's cold voice.

"Forget everything about last night. I don't want anyone else to find out about it!"

No sooner had the man finished speaking than Linsey noticed a piece of paper flung in front of her. It was a cheque for three million dollars.

As she regained her composure, the events of the previous evening began to come back to her. She had gone out for dinner with a client who, with ill intentions, had spiked her wine. In a state of panic, she attempted to flee and unexpectedly ran into her husband, Bryson Higgins, whom she had married for three years but never laid eyes on. Surprisingly, they ended up having sex.

Judging from Bryson's reaction, however, Linsey realized he didn't know she was his wife. Furthermore, he appeared to think she had played some trick on him.

Linsey quickly explained, "It's not what it looks like. Last night was just an accident. I was..."

She was about to reveal that she had been drugged and that she was his wife when his phone rang and interrupted her.

Glancing at his phone, Bryson stepped out onto the balcony to take the call.

Left alone in the room, Linsey could barely make out his conversation outside.

"Draft a divorce agreement and send it to the Wheeler family... It's been three years. She had taken enough... If she refuses to sign, don't hesitate to apply pressure if necessary." Bryson's voice was detached and tinged with disgust.

Linsey's heart dropped as she listened. She hadn't anticipated that her husband despised her so deeply, to the point of planning a divorce.

On their wedding day three years ago, Bryson had abruptly left for abroad, refusing to acknowledge Linsey as his wife and turning her into a laughingstock in Ekarora. Three years had passed, and his resentment toward her seemed to have only deepened.

At the thought of this, Linsey refrained from revealing her identity. Disclosing the truth might lead to further misunderstandings. It was better to keep it hidden.

After Bryson finished his call, he returned to the room. His frown deepened upon seeing Linsey still there. Clearly, he thought Linsey had ulterior motives. He became even more convinced that Linsey had deliberately seduced him the night before, and his disdain grew.

"Why can't you just leave with the money?" Bryson said irritably. "I don't want to see you again."

After that, he walked straight out of the room, not sparing Linsey another glance.

Linsey held the cheque in her hand, finding the situation painfully ironic. She got intimate with her husband, yet he didn't know she was his wife.

Observing the hickeys that marked her, Linsey sighed internally, mustered her strength, and dragged herself out of bed to shower.

Exiting the bathroom, her phone rang. She checked the caller ID. It was Asher Harper, a reliable client she had previously worked with.

She picked up and was greeted by Asher's cheerful voice. "Ms. Wheeler! How have you been lately?"

After a brief exchange, Asher got to the point.

Linsey had recently secured a favorable outcome for Asher in a lawsuit, working diligently on his behalf. In appreciation, Asher wanted to refer a significant client to her.

When Asher mentioned business, Linsey pushed aside her tangled emotions about Bryson and asked earnestly, "What's the situation? Give me the details."

Asher said, "Here's the deal. A friend of mine has landed a major overseas project, but his shipments are stuck at customs. I'm hoping you can help him out, given your reputation as a leading lawyer in this field."

Realizing this was a promising opportunity, Linsey responded with a polite smile, "I'm flattered."

Knowing Asher's connections, she anticipated a substantial case. She instantly felt happy and said, "Thank you for introducing me to this client."

Asher acknowledged her and continued, "I'll send you the address where my friend wants to meet. You can head over now and discuss it with him directly."

Though still feeling sore and drained from last night's passion, Linsey agreed without hesitation. She received the address, quickly got ready, and went to Twilight Bar.

But upon arriving and entering the designated room, she was shocked to find Bryson, her husband, the very one she'd had an unpleasant encounter with this morning!

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
