When Eryevir found herself skating on thin Ice, she made her escape from her Mate and his enemies. Eight years later, the fame of the Ice King and his Viesix had dwindled, left in the past and displaced by a new age. A new lord only meant a new terror. Sir Axel Lane, he was called-a dreaded terminator taken to the taste of blood and gore. After a one-night stand with him, Eryevir discovered that she was pregnant. She was thrown into anguish and turmoil, as her disguise was uncovered by the last person she wanted to see; the very person she hid from eight years ago. From Axel Lane's mouth, she heard the term 'Fiery Magpie', a name only A'xelaan called her. And now she was left to imagine different ways her world would crumble, again. Because, this time, he was no longer the witty traveler, he was the brass-gloved archfiend with the desire to slay and burn-a darkness risen to diminish her light. ERYEVIR: Like they say, the Ice King is coming. But they need to get the irony of it. The Ice King isn't coming to save the world, he is coming for me-to destroy me. And this cursed bond that isn't meant to exist might as well be my end. A'XELAAN: As she shrouds in her pathetic efforts to conquer, I am determined to make her mine, only she won't give in without a fight. She'd risk it all just to be hidden and far, far away from me. Now I have to do all I can to penetrate her hardened heart-even if it takes me torching the world to ashes.

Raging Blood And Bond Chapter 1 Excerpt

A'xelaan tilted his head to the side as I let my right fingers crawl across his long, manly neck; from the prominent muscle on the side to his apparent collarbone. I rubbed it roughly, feeling the bones with my index tip.

I used to think he was smart-like he'd have already read my intent with my moves. But maybe not. I did overestimate him.

With quick reflexes, I set the penknife in my other hand to his throat, but A'xelaan caught me by surprise when he had me bent over on the desk.

How he managed to pull me to his front and trap me in a split second, I didn't know. All I knew was his body brushing mine, my arms stretched above my head, grinding against the desk while being pinned down at the wrists by his powerful hand.

He patted my fingers and the knife fell from my grip. I chuckled painfully.

"You learn one smart move and decide to play a game?" A'xelaan snarled, his breath fanning my ear. Only then did I realize how close we were.

That close. Very close.

The feel of his lips grazing the side of my face was cold and smooth as he pressed down on my lower back with his other hand, his gruff voice causing me to flinch. "Maybe you've not realized this, but you are mine."

"Oh yeah," I kept chuckling. "Show me some fucking proof then!"

A'xelaan huffed and, without warning, something cold and sharp pierced into the skin of my left shoulder.

I was whimpering at first before a scream flew out my lips, my legs trembling as my hands struggled to break free of his grip.

Soon, the piercing stopped and A'xelaan's wet, hot tongue slowly licked the area. It gave a burning, itchy sensation.

When he let me go, I scampered from his side while feeling the mark his bite left on my shoulder.

"What did you just do?" I asked as I watched him lick a side of his lips, his index finger wiping the part he licked. He did a slow-motion head roll before fully setting his eyes on me.

"I just marked you, and I tell you, fiery Magpie, your blood tastes so... damn good," he drawled. His hooded eyes sparkled as he blinked, a side of his lips curling up.

"Take it off now."

"You'll have to kill me first."

"Well, if only you can fucking die!"

"I can; for three seconds at least." A'xelaan sat in his chair and leaned against the backrest. He regarded me under thick, well-lined brows. "Let's play a game. If you can stab me in the heart, you will have your freedom. Deal?"

I looked at the bitten area. The mark the bite left wasn't clear because of the swollen, red skin around it, but the teeth prints were evident. As I narrowed my eyes at him, I noticed how he still had the mischievous, satisfied smile.

His harmonious features were like a majestic piece of art that I wanted to cover with color strokes; the way his long, bold chin fitted his well-defined facial bones, or was it how his pale skin made him look like the devil as he sat there blowing hair from his eyes while sneaking a wink at me.

As good as they looked, I wanted to be the one to wring the arrogance from his expressions, wipe the smirk off his lips, maybe also poke the mischief out of his eyes. And I was going to do it-even if I had to play dirty.

"I'm in!" I said with assertion, raising my chin. A game without rules had my prints after all.

"All those cuddles and kisses, all the affection, made my skin crawl-like a troll embracing its victim before gobbling them. One can only imagine how much it stinks. You are no different from that troll. You merely caught my attention because you were a self-absorbed twonk, and we needed to test if you even had the heart to love another." "We?" I croak out. Then Zeath's fingers trail gently along my face, his eyes glinting with pure poison, and his voice is no better. "Poor Mellow, it is all a dare, a gratifying one. Divorce or not, it's your choice." >>>>> When Mellow Fanning married Zeath Lupin, the cold chairman of Lupin Group, she thought their love was forever. The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.
