"Shit, she is escaping," the man with the scarred eyes, cursed out, and grabs the rope I was using to escape. Taking the vase from the table beside the window, I threw it over to his head, "Get your fucking hands off," I snapped and jumped out the window with the rope as my guide, and he followed. Turning my head, I sighted him. "Great, today is not just my day," I murmured as I landed on the.... In a world of crimes, spies and a forbid-den romance. I'm Sophie Rust, an 18 years old. College student. If I may brag a little, I would define my-self as someone who is clever, stubborn, fun-loving and adventurous. I've always known my parents were more than what they seemed, but never in my wildest dream did I imagine they were secret spy agents working for an underground Secret Service. The Rusts – Wild-cat pair is what they were called. Their secret life was full of danger and emotional roller coasters, a life I secretly craved. However, everything changed when I met Alexander Kova, a ruthless Russian gangster leader with a vendetta against my family. And love took an unexpected turn. Tragedy struck, at the High-Ranking official estate where we stayed, leaving me as the sole survivor among the children of other spies. Terrified and homeless, The Kovas, our enemies, turned into our protectors, offered me a blanket of safety. But that hope turned to nothing when a clash between the Kovas and a New York gangster family erupts, turning me into something formidable, a being with powers unimaginable. I never knew I could be the person that I have become.. In the realm of power, secrets, and vengeance, our unlikely romance faces its ultimate test. As Alexander unleashes mayhem to claim what he believes is rightfully his, will our love survive the relentless storm, or will it crumble in the battle for power?

Chapter 1 Love at first sight

~~~~
"I love you," I whispered, my voice barely audible, as I stared at Alexander Kova. My heart pounded in my chest as his cold eyes locked onto mine.
"What?" Alexander, the Russian drug lord with a thick accent, asked in surprise, his face contorting with anger and malice.
"Oh... Nothing, sir. I was just practicing my lines," I lied, desperately trying to cover up the truth. The look he gave me earlier made it clear he didn't want to hear those words from me, especially since I was nothing more than a child in his eyes. "So, when is Natalia coming down?" I asked, attempting to shift the conversation and alleviate the awkwardness.
Inside, I screamed, "I'm dying here. I need help." I couldn't believe I had fallen in love with my best friend's father. The butterflies in my stomach danced uncontrollably as I continued to gaze at him.
Alexander Kova, a well-known Russian gangster based in Canada, was a mix of Russian and American descent. He was not only my college friend Natalie Kova's father but also a divorced man with two children. And to make matters worse, he despised children like me, not to mention that my family background was one he didn't want to mix with.
Sighing heavily, I thought, "How does an eighteen-year-old college student fall in love with a thirty-seven-year-old father of two, a divorce, and someone who hates brats?"
Little did I know that the biggest obstacle would come as not just a person, but the gangster world that Kova lives in-a dangerous presence that would test the very foundations of our relationship.
If I had foreseen the challenges ahead, perhaps I would have hesitated, second-guessed my feelings, and kept my emotions in check.
But fate, it seemed, had woven a complicated web, pushing us to confront our fears and doubts, ultimately reshaping our lives in unexpected ways.
Our love, might be fragile, but it was resilient, and it stood firm at the heart of it all, urging us to navigate the hurdles and find a way to be together despite the odds.
As I faced the unknown, I clung to the belief that love could conquer even the darkest corners of our existence, willing to fight for our relationship, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.
Even if the danger that lurks at the corner was ME, and that other me with powers unimaginable...
A FEW MONTHS BACK
It all started at school after a boring day spent in detention. I ended up there because I couldn't resist telling a female teacher to stop seducing the male students. In my defense, she came to school wearing a short mini-skirt and barely any top. It was obvious what she wanted.
Unlike my school's lack of attractive teachers, there were many handsome students who seemed more mature than their age. Alone in the room, I muttered, "Today's all messed up."
"And whose fault is that?" a female voice echoed from the other end.
Startled, I jumped up in fear. It was a dark room, and if someone had entered, I would have noticed. "Show yourself," I demanded, but there was no response. "Just so you know... I'm a black belt," I warned, pausing for a moment. Well, it wasn't entirely false. I had learned a thing or two about self-defense.
"No doubt you are," the voice replied, this time from the opposite end of the room. Then, a young girl emerged from the shadowy corner. She had long black hair and eyes that held a world of experiences. If I guessed correctly, she was the same age as me. "Hi," she greeted me with a smile.
I walked over to where she stood. "Back at you," I replied, turning towards the door. "How did you get in here? I didn't see you come in," I complained.
"What, you don't know me?" she asked, sounding offended.
"Hmm, am I supposed to?" I questioned.
"You've got to be kidding me," she said with a slightly annoyed grunt. "We attend class together, and it's my third day at this school," she added.
"Oh... the new girl! I totally forgot," I realized, and then she looked familiar. "Sorry, I thought you were a teacher," I admitted with a smile.
"Right," she sarcastically spat.
"Anyway, sorry about that." I walked closer to her. "We started off on the wrong foot," I said, extending my hand. "My name is Sophie Rust, and I can be a bit of a blockhead sometimes," I introduced myself.
Laughing, she replied, "Yeah, I can see that," and shook my hand. "My name is Natalie Kova. I'm sixteen and apparently perfect."
"Huh... no one is perfect," I blurted out.
"Oh well, too bad for you because I am," she retorted.
"Whatever. Anyway... Kova? Is that your father's name?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes, why?" Natalie responded.
"Oh! Nothing... It's just that the name doesn't sound American, so I was kind of surprised," I explained.
"Yeah, that's because we're not. We're Russians," Natalie said.
"Oh wow, you don't look or sound Russian," I remarked. "Sorry, didn't mean to sound weird," I quickly added.
"It's fine. I get that a lot," Natalie reassured me, taking a seat on a wooden bench. I followed suit. "My father is not purely Russian; he's part American, and my mother was also American. So, although my father looks the Russian part, I don't," she explained.
"Well, that's cool. Even I don't look like my parents, and I'm American," I said, trying to lighten the mood. "People sometimes ask if I'm adopted. Crazy, right?"
"Yeah," Natalie agreed.
"So... instead of Natalie, can I just call you Nat?" I asked.
"Why?" she inquired.
"Huh, because it's easier to pronounce," I replied with a serious expression.
"Hahaha, you're funny," she responded, laughing.
"Thanks. I know we're going to be great friends. I can feel it in my bones," I said confidently.
"Speak for yourself, weirdo," Natalie retorted.
"Ouch, I'm fucking hurt," I replied, and we both burst into laughter.
Just then, the door opened, and we heard a female voice say, "Okay... girls, time to go home. And Miss Kova, your father is here."
"Oh shit. They called my father?" Natalie exclaimed, standing up from the bench. "Can you believe that?" she asked, staring at me.
"Yeah! Welcome to Canada, bitch," I responded, and we both left the room.
"Oh, Dad!" Natalie called out as she rushed out of the door. I turned in the direction she was looking and gasped audibly. She noticed my reaction and asked, worried,
"What?"
"That... that's... your father?" I stammered.
"Yeah, why?" Natalie questioned.
"He's so fucking hot," I blurted out, unable to contain my thoughts. Standing at that distance, he looked like a god who had decided to visit Earth, mesmerizing and untouchable.
I stretched lazily on the bed, much like a contented kitten, before opening my eyes. Hovering above me was a face that could have been sculpted by the gods-a handsome, well-defined face with sun-kissed golden eyes. My first groggy thought was that Clara had finally brought home a decent, well-groomed man for a change. But.... Why is he in my room? I abruptly shoved him away, ending the spell. "Get off your asshole!" With a scowl on my face, I got up quickly. "Was personal space not mentioned by Clara, huh?" I spoke in an irritat-ed tone. "Clara?" He echoed. He turned and casually picked up some papers from a nearby table, settling down with an annoyingly confident smile. "And who might that be, if I may ask?" He doesn't even remember her? What an absolute asshole. "Well, if you must know, Clara is the-" I started, but my words faltered as something shiny caught my eye. Where am I?
