Desserted goodness Chapter 1 A wish come through

"When will I have a child of my own Selene?"

"I have waited for too long. I have been good and have never done anything to offend anyone."

"Didn't they say that once you treat other children with care and love, you would get yours?"

"I have done that and Selene believe me, this is not from a pretentious heart. My heart is as pure as the fur of your wolf Selene."

"Oh! Yeah. I have a child." The voice continued as if being reminded of an earlier wrong statement made.

"I have a child Selene but I want a female child. I female pup to call my own, a female pup I can relate with and have the fun of mothering one." It continued.

"Selene, you know if I was allowed to come out here during the full moon, I would do so to enable you hear me. I know you understand my predicament and the tight leash I am being put on for my security." It continued as if being asked a question or accused.

"Selene..." The never-ending monologue continued to the moon goddess.

Selene, the moon goddess worshiped by the werewolves would have probably had her ears filled and words pouring out of it due to the constant plea and long monologues from Diana.

"I have tried my best Selene and I know you can hear me."

"If I have to constantly visit you to get what I need, I will. I do not care for time or age." Diana continued then smiled slowly, a smile bagged with pains and want.

"This is the part I go quiet to hear from you. Answer me, Selene. They may say I have gone crazy back at the pack but they do not know my heart desires like you do." She said and proceeded to be quiet.

Under the gloomy weather in the silent and desolate forest, a medium sized black wolf is seen on the hills staring into the endless horizon, her black fur glistens against the cool of the evening and she gives a low howl packed with pain once in every 10-20 minutes. Judging from her hunched spine and down casted facial expression, one could guess she had been out here for a long period of time.

She gave her howl again and this time, it lasted for a long time, probably the loudest howl she had given since her consistent visitation to the borders. She continues to stare towards the evening sky without a moon, lost in thoughts of prayer to the moon goddess.

Over the years, it became a habit nobody could take away from her. She stayed this way till her ears twitched, it picked up a little sound from the almost lifeless valley below.

"What was that?"

Diana, a selfless lady and classic beauty, average heighted with extra black wavy hair and dark colored eyes is known to be the respected wife of Beta Draco and is blessed with the gift of heightened hearing. She struggled to have a child and when she finally did, she could only bear her son, Thompson. She earnestly wished for a daughter, hers or adopted.

It is known among the members that she is obsessed with the thought of having a female pup and if eventually care is not taken, she might eventually lose her sanity. Draco, her mate and the Beta of the Kingdom had tried his best to be her emotional support, shutting his ears from every rumor, gossips and advice about his mate.

Though obsessed with having a female child, Diana could as well be given a crown for being the nicest motherly figure in the Nightshade Pack. Facts has it that few gossips had been going on that she should have been given the position of the Luna instead of Luna Mae who is the stack contrast of Diana.

Paying extra attention to the almost silent forest, the light and restless footsteps which was almost non-existent continued inconsistently. Becoming alerted and extra cautious, Diana lowered herself into the bush as tall as her wolf to blend in and not be seen, she got more observant, her sense of smell, sight and hearing having deeper concentration but the almost silent noise faded into complete silence.

After some minutes of silence, the curious and restless Diana was ready to plunge her wolf into the valley not minding the possible danger. Jumping headlong into the valley in search of a threat she only got stilled by a sound of a soft longing howl.

'It can't be.' She thought in her mind with her heart drumming after the initial hesitation.

Not wanting to get excited, she waited again, her patience stretching out endlessly. What if it was ploy to drag her out to get killed? What if it was just her imagination from being out here for a long period of time? But what if it was real?

When the sound came again and again, she still could not get out of her shocked state. And this time around, it wasn't because of fear or suspicion but overexcitement. A part of her wanted to be sure her thoughts were not over exaggerated, she needed to make sure it wasn't a prank or an illusion before fully drowning in the ocean of overexcitement.

The howl became stronger and called for an immediate attention. Not knowing how to control her body in this state after being composed for too long, Diana plunged in with reckless abandon and did not need to search for long as she came to face a wolf. It was smallish, she concluded it's a pup after a little examination with her eyes. She noticed it was a hungered and frightened grey wolf who backed away at the sight of her gigantic black wolf but still kept an eye on her.

Looking at the face of the pup, Diana felt a sweet tingling sensation in her heart. The longing in the face and voice of the pup made her impatient to swing into the full job of being a parent. The joy of being called 'mama'.

Diana's excitement dwindled a bit after looking at the pup for a while, there was a problem, and an obvious problem she could have noticed earlier but got blinded by her overexcitement.

Could she still accept the child?

"Is this a joke by the moon goddess?"

HONEY MULLINS

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I've returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders-the man I was told was a crippled recluse-intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I'd cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent-the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower's security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy-Archibald's secret son-wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald's face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

Landslide

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.
