Once their little game ended, Dominic wrote Allison a check and moved on with the woman he had always loved. Allison accepted her fate and quietly left his world. But just as she was ready to commit to another man, Dominic barreled back into her life, all passion and fire. "I was your first love!" He offered her billions, begging her to spare him even a glance. "Want a date with me? Please wait in line, Mr. Clark."

Chapter 1 A Crazy Night

Allison Roberts had gotten thoroughly drunk at a bar the night she ended things with Ethan Hopkins. Seated in a shadowy corner, she was locked in a tight embrace, passionately kissing a striking man without pause.

As the man gazed at Allison's flushed cheeks and intoxicating eyes, the effects of the alcohol, he whispered huskily, "Should we find somewhere else to continue?"

Allison's haze of intoxication lifted slightly, allowing her to recognize the man at last. It was Dominic Clark.

Allison intended to withdraw her hand but changed her mind the next second. She reached out and wrapped her arms firmly around Dominic's neck, pressing herself against him.

This moment of recklessness was driven not just by a desire to spite her unfaithful ex-boyfriend, Ethan. She also saw an opportunity in Dominic, whose influential status in Zenvale could secure better medical treatment for her father, Charlie Robert. Furthermore, he could shield her from Ethan's persistent annoyances.

Feeling Dominic's gaze traveling over her, Allison snapped back from her reverie.

She curved her lips into a seductive smile and leaned in, her scent bewitching as she drew near to his lips again. Her hand trailed down his shoulder, teasing the transparent buttons on his shirt as she looked at him with a silent yearning.

Dominic's Adam's apple moved noticeably. Surprised by her forwardness, his body tensed and then he tightened his grip around her waist, pressing her back against the sofa. His kiss deepened, becoming more fervent this time.

Allison nestled against Dominic like a contented cat, her passion palpable in every move.

Later, they checked into a hotel.

In the suite, they clumsily made their way to the bed amidst fervent kisses, culminating in a night of untamed passion.

Morning light spilled into the room when Allison awoke, finding the suite empty without Dominic.

A long, soothing bath helped ease her aches, refreshing her spirits.

As she emerged from the bathroom, there was a knock at the door.

Upon answering, Allison found a hotel waitress holding a large bag. "Good morning, Miss Roberts. Mr. Clark has arranged these clothes for you," the waitress informed Allison with a polite nod.

Allison accepted the bag with thanks and shut the door behind her.

Atop the pile of clothes lay Dominic's business card, a discreet nod to the private nature of their arrangement. Allison understood the implication instantly.

A wave of relief washed over Allison. Dominic's gesture hinted that he was still interested in being intimate with her in the future.

Digging through the bag, she found a set of lingerie, a blue dress, and a box of ointment.

Just then, her phone rang. Swiping to answer, Allison was greeted by the familiar voice of Madeline Miller, her best friend.

"Hello, Allison. How did it go? Did you make it?"

Allison's gaze shifted between the business card, the dress, and the ointment on her bed. "Sort of, I suppose."

Madeline replied, "That's good to hear. I had a feeling Dominic would be drawn to you."

"Madeline, you know I'm not interested in that stuff. I just want Ethan to get what he deserves," Allison said, her voice trembling, eyes burning with hatred.

Ethan, that despicable cheat, hadn't merely cheated on Allison. If that were all, she wouldn't have risked everything to deliberately entangle Dominic. Ethan had crossed a line.

When painful memories flashed back to her mind, Allison's hands balled into fists so tight that her knuckles turned white.

After the call ended, Allison tried on the clothes Dominic had instructed the waitress to send over. Surprisingly, they fit perfectly. She wondered how many women he had been with to perfect such a skill. Then, it hit her. She was one of them.

Even though Allison had applied the ointment, a lingering soreness persisted between her legs. Dragging her aching body, she managed to leave the hotel.

Allison had booked a taxi online, and it was waiting right at the hotel's entrance as she emerged.

Once settled in the taxi, she called her workplace to request the day off, quoting her need to visit the hospital. Going to work in such a condition seemed unthinkable.

Allison reached the hospital and headed straight for the inpatient building.

She first sought out her father's primary doctor, who let out a heavy sigh upon seeing her.

The doctor suggested, "Your father's condition has deteriorated further since last month. Have you considered transferring him to a specialized facility? There's an advanced sanatorium in Zenvale that collaborates with international experts. They could significantly aid in his recovery. The only downside is the cost, but you wouldn't need to worry about other aspects."

The mention of expenses made Allison clench her hands. "Dr. Chase, what would the transfer cost?"

"For someone in your father's condition, it requires specialized care and expert intervention. It would be around 100 thousand dollars a month."

The color drained from Allison's face as she echoed. "One hundred thousand dollars a month..."

"Though this hospital isn't equipped with advanced devices, we doctors have done everything within our power to stabilize your father's condition. If you're looking for further recovery, there's only one place to consider. The sanatorium in Zenvale offers the finest medical care available."

Clamping her jaw, Allison responded, "Thank you, Dr. Chase. I'll arrange to move my father there as soon as I can."

She left the office, only for her phone to ring the moment she stepped out. Checking the caller ID, she saw an unknown number. She figured it had to be Ethan, using a friend's phone after she had blocked his number.

Deep down, Allison felt a need to confront Ethan, aiming to ask what she should do in return for him letting her go. With a swipe, she answered the call, her voice cold and sharp. "Ethan, we're over. Why keep calling? What do you want now?"

Ethan's snort came through the phone. "Isn't your father your top priority? How does it feel, watching him suffer in bed, helpless?"

A flicker of anger crossed Allison's face. "Mr. Hopkins, please don't bother. I'm capable of managing his care on my own."

Ethan's voice was taunting. "Really? Manage on your own? You don't even have contacts outside the country. How will you get the specialists to treat your father? Listen, Allison, I have a proposition. Come back to me, and I'll ensure your father gets the best doctor immediately."

I spent four hours preparing a five-course meal for our fifth anniversary. When Jackson finally walked into the penthouse an hour late, he didn't even look at the table. He just dropped a thick Manila envelope in front of me and told me he was done. He said his stepsister, Davida, was getting worse and needed "stability." I wasn't his wife; I was a placeholder, a temporary fix he used until the woman he actually loved was ready to take my place. Jackson didn't just want a divorce; he wanted to erase me. He called me a "proprietary asset," claiming that every design I had created to save his empire belonged to him. He froze my bank accounts, cut off my phone, and told me I’d be nothing without his name. Davida even called me from her hospital bed to flaunt the family heirloom ring Jackson claimed was lost, mocking me for being "baggage" that was finally being cleared out. I stood in our empty home, realizing I had spent five years being a martyr for a man who saw me as a transaction. I couldn't understand how he could be so blind to the monster he was protecting, or how he could discard me so coldly after I had given him everything. I grabbed my hidden sketchbook, shredded our wedding portrait, and walked out into the rain. I dialed a number I hadn't touched in years—a dangerous man known as The Surgeon who dealt in debts and shadows. I told him I was ready to pay his price. Jackson and Davida wanted to steal my identity, but I was about to show the world the literal scars they had left behind.

My stepmother sold me like a piece of inventory to a man known for breaking people just to plug the financial crater my father left behind. I was delivered to the Morton estate in the middle of a freezing storm, stripped of my phone, and told that if I didn't make myself useful, my senile grandfather would be evicted from his care facility by noon. The master of the house, Adonis Morton IV, was a monster living in a silent mausoleum, driven to the brink of madness by a sensory condition that turned every sound into a physical assault. When I was forced into his suite to serve him, he didn't see a human being; he saw a source of agony. In a fit of animalistic rage, he pinned me to the wall and nearly strangled me to death just for the sound of a shattering teacup. I only survived by using my grandfather’s secret herbal blends and pressure-point therapy to force his overactive nervous system into a drugged sleep. But saving him was my greatest mistake. Instead of letting me go, Adonis moved me into a guest suite connected to his own bedroom by a hidden door. He didn't just want me as a servant; he needed me as a human white-noise machine to drown out the demons in his head. The nightmare deepened when he took the promissory note that defined my freedom and tore it into confetti. By destroying the debt, he destroyed my exit strategy. He replaced my maid’s uniform with a silver silk dress that clung to my skin but did nothing to hide the dark, ugly bruises his fingers had left on my neck. He branded me as his "primary care associate," a title that was nothing more than a gilded cage. I felt a sickening sense of injustice as he forced me to sign a contract that banned me from contacting other men and required me to sleep wherever he slept. He looked at me with a possessive heat, calling me his "medication" rather than a woman. My family had sold my body, but Adonis Morton was intent on owning my very presence, using my grandfather’s medical bills as a leash to keep me within twenty feet of him at all times. Standing in a neglected greenhouse with mud staining my expensive silk, I realized I was no longer a victim waiting for rescue. If I was going to be his medication, I would learn how to be his cure—or his undoing. I began clearing the weeds with a cold, calculated frenzy, determined to turn this prison into my laboratory. He thinks he has trapped a helpless girl, but I am going to pry open the cracks in his stone walls until his entire world comes crashing down.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.
