Chapter 1 Married Life

Valentina's POV

"This is the final part of the wedding show we played yesterday, sign these" Allen said, as he flung the papers at me.

I read through the documents, Allen wanted an open marriage, where he could do whatever he wants, irrespective of our matrimonial vow.

"Is your family aware of this?" I asked

"Do you want me to kick you out of this house?" Allen threatened.

After a careful thought, I breathed out

"Okay, I will agree to and sign these documents on one condition"

Okay my little wife, what is it?"

Allen wore a smirk, playing with the golden pen in his hands, he looked at me like I was a child begging for candy.

"I want to have my own business" I sputtered.

" I provide you with everything that you want, why do you feel the need to work?"

Allen asked me with a straight face, I knew convincing him would not be easy, but I had the right card in my hands, I just had to place it in the right direction.

"I don't want to sit at home all day doing nothing" I replied, wearing a sorry look.

I really felt like hitting him in the face right now, but that would be a bad idea.

"Alright your wish is granted, besides I don't want a lazy wife around me" Allen boasted.

I grabbed the pen from his hands and signed the documents, with a faint smile on my face I said "Thank you".

"You're welcome, see you when I see you".

Allen walked out briskly and zoomed off in his white sports car.

That was the last time in two months that I saw and spoke to my husband. It was raining today, since last week a heavy downpour flowed from the sky.

"Hey bestie, how are you holding up?"

I read the text from my bestfriend Chloe, who had been away in the Islands for charity work, she flew in a few days ago.

"I'm good bestie, still at work, can't wait to link up with you this weekend, Love you xo xo" I replied to her text and jumped back into work.

Since Allen ran off with his mistress, a day after our wedding, work has been my life. I love interior decoration, it keeps me happy and I ensure to always give my best.

There was a knock at the glass door.

"Come in," I gestured.

"Ma I'll be going home now, I'm done with all of my work for today" My assistant Nora informed me.

"Alright, I'll lock up when I leave, Here's your paycheck for last month" I handed her an envelope.

" Thank you very much ma" Nora's face lit up with Joy.

" You're welcome, Take care of yourself"

As Nora left, I was worried about how she would get home safe, I looked out the window and noticed that it was drizzling.

" Thank Goodness" I muttered.

The safety of my staff was important to me.

While Driving on my way home, I vibed to my Jam "Go up", it was sang by my favorite band " The hit makers".

Just as I was about to make a turn, My car suddenly broke down in the middle of nowhere.

" How come? " I pondered.

The car was in perfect condition when I got to work and now this. It began raining heavily and I was stuck, I reached for my phone to make a call, but it slipped off my hands and the screen cracked.

My hands were shaking, I was nervous, not knowing what to do.

" Hey miss, are you okay? "

I jerked in fright at the voice and turned to see who it was, My gaze met with the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen.

I was speechless for a moment, he had a perfect masculine body with broad shoulders and an angelic face.

"You're cold" He said and wrapped me in his Jacket.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name is Jason, I drove by and saw that you needed some help" He replied.

"Yes my car suddenly broke down and I crashed my phone and I don't know..." I was shaky.

Then he calmed me with his words.

" It's okay. Please sit in the car while I fix it".

'Oh my God', I did as I was told, he held the door open for me and I sat in the car, my eyes fixed on every inch of his body as he walked to open the bonnet of the car, our gaze met and I looked away shyly like a teenage girl, I felt butterflies in my stomach.

"Start the car miss" He said after a few minutes, I did as he asked and the engine purred. I was so happy, I jumped out of the car and hugged him, he was surprised and I was shocked, but he brushed it off as excitement.

" Thank you" I said with a wide grin.

" You're welcome, wow it has stopped raining and your car is up, my work here is done, I have to go now, have a nice evening". He said and rushed off to his car.

Before I knew it, he sped away,

"oh Valentina he didn't even get to know your name, so such good men still exist in this world".

There was a beep on my phone, I looked at my cracked screen, it was a text from my mom which read

" We miss you at the company honey, we will be glad to have you back".

I hissed at the text, my mother and her antics,

What did she want this time?

She should have the company to herself. After all, she forced me into marrying a man I don't love to save her precious company, she should enjoy it and leave me out of it.

I turned on my favorite Jam and drove home happily, I thought about Jason, 'OMG!' I was definitely in the mood for a hot shower.

I walked into my room, took my clothes off, turned on a romantic song to suit the moment, and hit the showers freely diving into my fantasy with thoughts of my prince charming, Jason.

"He's so handsome" I thought, no man had ever treated me so nicely the way he did.

"Good Lord, I want to see him again"

Suddenly the music went off, and I heard footsteps. I turned off the shower to be sure, I was not imagining something else, the steps continued slowly.

I could tell the person was moving towards the bathroom door.

I got so scared, I screamed " who are you?"

I quickly wrapped the towel over my naked body.

There was no answer, the door opened quietly, I shut my eyes in fear.

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.
