Chapter 1 Romantic dinner
"Are you sure about this Mrs Hills? I mean, I really want to do my best in giving him the biggest surprise of his life. The last time I saw him was on our wedding night. This is very exciting news to me. Let me go prepare myself. Please don't make dinner tonight, I will make for my husband. I would also like for y'all to leave early so that we can have the whole house to ourselves." Said Faith in a very exciting tone.
Mrs Hills could see the excitement in her eyes and she also felt like crying. She only wishes that the old woman was still alive to see for herself that the woman she chose for her grandson is the best.
The lady he used to date would never think of making dinner for him. Infact that woman did not even recognise who Mrs Hills was.
She treated every worker in this house like a slave. She also could not even fake loving the old lady.
Everyone could see how irritated she was when she saw the old lady. She must have been very happy when she heard that the old lady was gone.
Unfortunately, for her no matter how happy she may be. She will never be the first lady of this house becaus the old lady made sure that her grandson marries the woman of her choice before she died.
She feels sorry for this woman though because he has never spent a night with her.
How is she going to produce an heir if the man does not even spend a night with her. She may try to be strong but she could see that she was dying inside.
She saw her standing up and rushing to the fridge and she said, "time is not on my side so I will not have time to go to the store. I will make the best meal out of what we have. My mom has always taught me to always make the best out of what I have. Mrs Hills, you guys can leave. I will be fine on my own."
Mrs Hills did not object to what she had planned to do. She used to spend time with the old lady. If there is one thing she knows more than anyone. Is the fact that the old lady died while pestering his grandson to marry this woman.
The old lady also used to call her to come make her some food. She would always say, "my grand daughter I miss your food, come and cook for me when you find time."
She remembers that everyone in the house would be happy when she comes. Because the truth is, they all enjoyed the food she cooked.
It has been three years since they got married but in actual fact, she has not even spent a night with her husband.
The day they got married, he boarded a plane and left her in the chapel. He only told his assistant to take her to their new home.
This is the man she has had a crush on ever since she was a teenager. Her mother was very close to his grandmother and they would sometimes come and see the old lady.
She used to see him from afar and she fell in love with him. They have never spoken to each other except when greeting each other.
The day they got married, he was very angry and she had no idea why he was angry. She was made to sign a contract.
She did not even read whatever she was made to sign. She was just too excited to marry the man of her dreams.
Infact even if she was not excited about the marriage. She was not given the chance to be read what she was made to sign.
Little did she know that she was only marrying the walls. The first few months were the hardest but after realising that she might live alone in this house. She decided that it will be best she get enrolled at the university and further her studies.
She had talked to Mrs Hills who contacted the one of the most trusted people of the old lady. They agreed to pay her fees and they were also happy that she wanted to be a jewellery designer.
They were happy that she will help in the family business and bring it to greater heights.
So time has past and it has been three years. She has been too busy with school work such that she has not even felt the need of having Elic around.
She remembers that two months back Elic called her and shouted at her. He kept on saying things that she did not understand.
But she did not put it to heart because she had an exam that she needed to write. She had told herself that nothing will stop her from getting her master's degree.
She did not attend the graduation because she did not want to find herself crying. She knows that graduates will be having their loved ones there to support them.
She has no one who will be there to support her. Her grandfather is too old to be attending such ceremonies.
So she opted in paying to receive only her certificate and not attend the graduation ceremony.
She was very happy yesterday when she received her certificate. She will be using this to apply for a job.
However, when she talked to Mrs Hills about finding a job. Mrs Hills talked about the fact that she will need to ask for Elic's approval.
How can she get Elic's approval. The man has never come to see her. Sometimes she could see him on the news and they will be saying that he is around the city.
However, he will not even think of coming to see her. She would always ask herself who was the woman that was always next to him.
They seem as if they were a couple and sometimes when she tries to call him. A woman would answer the phone.
She has spent nights crying and wishing to reverse marrying this man. She has tried her best to research about how to keep a man.
However, everything she has read about online was useless to her if the man will not even spend one night with her.
Tonight she will do her best to do just that. She started preparing her meal while singing. Once the food was ready, she went to take a bath.
She put on a sexy lingerie that she had bought and told herself that she will wear it the day Elic comes back home.
Indeed today is the day she will be wearing it. There has been times when she would think of getting a pair of scissors and cutting it off.
But she would tell herself that he will come one day. Look at it now, he is coming and she is wearing it.
She put on a coat on top on the lingerie them went down stairs to set the table.
After she had finished doing that, she sat on the table and waited for him. She was very nervous about this.
A part of her thought of the possibility of him not coming and thought of what the maids will be saying the following day.
She shook her head and reprimanded herself from having negative thoughts. Then she heard the sound of a car outside.
She smiled, she knew that Mrs Hills was not lying to her. Today he has decided to come see her.
He got into the house and he was very shocked to find the house empty. Then he saw romantic candles.
The house was full of candles and roses which led him to the dinner table. On that table was the woman he hated the most.
For a moment though, he was taken by her beauty. She was wearing a coat but she had not fastened the buttons. The lingerie was visible.
He salivated at the beauty before him then he remembered who she was. He got irritated and said, "is this what you have been doing these past years behind my back."
Faith did not want to argue with him or ruin the mood. She opted not to reply him and she said instead, "before we can ask ourselves how we have been these past three years. It will be best we first fill our empty stomachs. Come sit and let us eat."
Even though he was reluctant to do this but he kept on remembering the days on which Mrs Hills would come to the office to give him food.
When he talked to her one day, she told him that Faith had been the one preparing that food for him.
So seeing the food before him which looked appetizing and well garnished. He couldn't wait to have a taste of it.
He decided to sit and eat the food. Whatever he has come to do tonight will have to wait till they finish eating.
They had their dinner in silence. Faith was scared of having a conversation with him.
Elic was not afraid of her but there was just nothing he could say with this stupid woman.
After they had their meal, he stood up and went to his brief case. He took out papers in the brief case.
He went to her and fear engulfed her when she saw him coming closer to her. Then he said to her, "three years is over, sign the divorce papers and let us go our separate ways. My accountant will deposit three million into your account first thing in the morning. As for this house, the owner is moving into the house tomorrow. I want you out of the house before she arrives here."
Faith said, "Elic!"
