Chapter 1 The Divorce.

Chapter 1.

In the expansive hallway of a mansion, a woman strode into the sitting room, her eyes filled with tears. With an unsteady leg and a clenched fist by her side, she observed her husband, who appeared completely unconcerned as he enjoyed a glass of wine.

"I want a divorce," Alexia declared bluntly, trying to blink back her tears.

Lincoln maintained his calm demeanor, lightly holding the glass as he took a sip. "A divorce?" He repeated, a mocking smile creeping into his face.

"Yes, I want divorce" Alexia responded.

Lincoln sighed, looking unfazed, " Why are you telling me this? Do you expect me to plead with you to stay? Oh c'mon if that is what you think, then you are deluding yourself," he replied, his tone dismissive.

For a moment, the pain spread throughout her body like a wild vine, tearing at her heart and bones, making her gasp for breath. " Don't you feel even a hint of remorse? You cheated on me with my best friend! How can you do this to me?" Her voice quivered with hurt as she bombarded him with questions.

She had just discovered the most devastating betrayal of her life, her husband was having affairs with her only friend. She had never imagined this day would come, it was unexpected and so hard to accept.

"Don't get too ahead of yourself, sweetheart. I marry you solely because of your father's money, and now that you don't have anything, why will I continue the charade with you? You are worthless to me right now." Lincoln said with brutal honesty, devoid of any guilt.

Alexia lost her parents in a plane crash one month ago, and her father's properties were stripped of her by the company's shareholders. She had thought Lincoln would be her solace to regain the properties, but his words crushed her hard.

Alexia clenched her fist tightly on her gown, and endless pain surged through her heart in an instant. "You are lying! You care about me more than I do about myself; you love me so much, and I know that. So why are you saying all this now? Please, tell me it's a joke!"

Lincoln closed his eyes for a moment and opened it instantly. "Why are you so dense? Can't you understand? My care for you is just an act, so come of it and face the bitter truth," He said coldly, eyes darkening as he emanated a distant Aura.

He never expects her to be such a foolish soul who doesn't understand his explanation. She was the one forcing herself into the marriage when his heart didn't belong to her. He had to make that clear at once.

Alexia, still madly in love with him couldn't let go of her first love easily. She has dedicated her time and soul to this marriage; it is hard to let it clash easily.

" I'm sorry; I don't mean to upset you. I only need an explanation about what I saw, and that's all," Alexia said, her voice steadier as she attempted to remain calm.

"What you saw is the truth! I only marry you for your father's wealth! Can't you see?" Lincoln yelled angrily, he was pissed off.

Alexia crumpled to the floor, tears flowing freely. Her greatest fear of parting ways with her first love is finally happening.

"How could you do this to me? But I love you!" Alexia cries out.

"I'm sorry I didn't feel the same way. Let's talk about the divorce tomorrow; my lawyer will bring the papers," Lincoln said, before turning to leave her sobbing.

As he walked away, Alexia screamed in despair, holding her chest in anguish as her eyes fell upon their wedding picture on the wall. Who could have thought her once lovely marriage would lead to such a painful divorce like this? Memories of their love overwhelmed her; what she thought was a dream come true has turned into a nightmare.

The camera clicks as reporters swarm outside the Golden Company, waiting to question the CEO for his recent award.

A white Cadillac Escalade pulled up in front of the building, and a bodyguard rushed to open the door. A striking man steps out in a blue shawl lapel tuxedo, his average long hair cascading his shoulder. It was the famous billionaire CEO, Anthony Stones.

The reporters bombarded him with different questions as soon as he appeared, their camera clicking rapidly.

"What are those questions for? '' Anthony asks, walking into the company with his assistant, Hardy closely trailing behind him.

"It's regarding the award,"

The two are just like a friend as Hardy works as his assistant and also does the mafia training with Anthony, making their relationship closer.

"Oh, I see. What about the other company?" Anthony inquired coolly as he opened the door to his office.

The office was large and comfortable; the wall was made with bulletproof glass, and the transparent glass offered a clear view of the surroundings. At the center, a sleek black chair and a desk awaited him, with his nameplate display.

Hardy responds, a hint of mockery evident in his voice. " The Eastwood is probably in their last temper right now,"

Anthony smirked slightly; his eyes lightened up, and he said." They must have realized their position by now"

Hardy returns the smile, feeling proud of his boss. "We finally put them in their place"

Just then, his demeanor changed, and his eyes turned cold as he looked at Hardy. " What of the father?"

Hardy sensed the change in his emotions; he could understand the reason and didn't bother to push the matter. " He was still in Italy meetings with other Mafia"

" You can go without me tonight; I will drive myself back home," Anthony instructed in a tone that broke no agreement.

"Alright, Boss" Hardy Agreed with no hesitation.

To kill her depression, Alexia found her way to the bar. She sat down beside a Cold, handsome man but was too lost in her thoughts to notice him.

As women flirt with him, Anthony ignores them and remains distant, but his gaze somehow falls on the troubled woman beside him.

"I want more alcohol!" Alexia declared drunkenly, drinking the fifth bottle.

"She doesn't seem right," he said in a low voice as he looked away. He came quiet; he wanted to go the same way unnoticed.

"Of course, I'm not normal," Alexia shot back, tears brimming in her eyes shocking Anthony.

Seeing a grown-up lady like her in tears leaves him speechless. "What? Are you seriously crying because of what I said? Who cries after downing five bottles of alcohol?." Anthony sneer.

His sneer was replaced with shock when her lips crashed against his...

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I spent four hours preparing a five-course meal for our fifth anniversary. When Jackson finally walked into the penthouse an hour late, he didn't even look at the table. He just dropped a thick Manila envelope in front of me and told me he was done. He said his stepsister, Davida, was getting worse and needed "stability." I wasn't his wife; I was a placeholder, a temporary fix he used until the woman he actually loved was ready to take my place. Jackson didn't just want a divorce; he wanted to erase me. He called me a "proprietary asset," claiming that every design I had created to save his empire belonged to him. He froze my bank accounts, cut off my phone, and told me I’d be nothing without his name. Davida even called me from her hospital bed to flaunt the family heirloom ring Jackson claimed was lost, mocking me for being "baggage" that was finally being cleared out. I stood in our empty home, realizing I had spent five years being a martyr for a man who saw me as a transaction. I couldn't understand how he could be so blind to the monster he was protecting, or how he could discard me so coldly after I had given him everything. I grabbed my hidden sketchbook, shredded our wedding portrait, and walked out into the rain. I dialed a number I hadn't touched in years—a dangerous man known as The Surgeon who dealt in debts and shadows. I told him I was ready to pay his price. Jackson and Davida wanted to steal my identity, but I was about to show the world the literal scars they had left behind.
