Rena, forced to flee to escape a marriage to a man as old as her father, made a spontaneous decision to marry Kellan, a stranger whose skills in homemaking were only matched by his financial acumen and his gentle demeanor. As their marriage unfolded, it took on a comforting predictability, with Kellan consistently showing himself to be reliable in every emergency. This sense of security crumbled when Rena uncovered Kellan's true identity and the hidden motives behind their union. Enraged, she initiated a divorce and disappeared. Yet, it was not long before Kellan found her once again...

My Perfect Husband Had A Double Life?! Chapter 1 Rena, Have You Gone Mad

"Pack up your mother's things and leave this house for good!" Alexander Barnett snapped at his daughter, Rena Barnett.

At the mansion's grand entrance, a pile of crumpled clothes lay scattered, most beyond repair.

Rena's eyes were filled with tears as she stared at her mother's photograph on the ground.

She had flown back immediately upon receiving the heart-wrenching news of her death.

As she knelt to retrieve the photo, her half-sister Milly Barnett cruelly stepped on her hand, pressing down hard. Rena's teeth gritted in pain.

In a surge of emotion, she snatched the frame from the ground and slammed it against Milly's shin.

Milly let out a sharp cry, recoiling into the arms of someone who caught her just in time to prevent her fall. Her shin swelled instantly as she cried out, "Dad, Jasper..."

"Rena, have you gone mad? How could you hurt Milly?" Jasper Singh, dressed impeccably and looking like royalty, intervened. He was Rena's ex fiancé, and they had known each other since childhood.

Rena turned to him with disdain. They had been in a serious relationship and promised each other a future together.

However, just days before, she had stumbled upon Jasper and Milly, indiscreet and exposed in bed.

Jasper had admitted he couldn't help himself with Milly, calling her irresistibly sweet.

Heartbroken, Rena had broken up with him and had left to find peace.

Soon after, the devastating news of her mother's death reached her.

Alexander insisted her mother had been overly indulgent with her first love and had met her death during their intimate moments.

Rena refused to believe such disgrace about her mother.

Besides, it was well-known that her father had been unhappy in his marriage, pressing for a divorce to openly be with Milly's mother.

He didn't hesitate to kick Rena out of the house after her mother's death.

Something was definitely amiss.

Rena sneered as she eyed the contemptible pair and then her father, who appeared utterly disinterested.

She swore to herself that once she unearthed the truth, retribution would be theirs.

Clutching her mother's urn, Rena gathered the last of her belongings and left, her heart heavy with sorrow.

She drove to the only sanctuary left to her-the quaint house her grandmother had bequeathed.

Night had fallen.

Balancing her belongings, Rena stepped out of her car and was about to ascend the steps when she felt a presence behind her.

Whirling around, she recoiled at the sight of a grimy old man seizing her. His stench was nauseating.

With his teeth bared in a grotesque smile, he reeked of decay. "Gorgeous, you're stunning! Mr. Singh wasn't lying. You truly are a treasure!"

As he leaned in closer, sniffing her, he murmured, "You smell delightful. It won't be long before you're enjoying this too!"

"Release me! Help! Is there anyone who can hear me?" Rena thrashed against him, her efforts in vain as she was shoved to the ground.

Her screams echoed futilely across the deserted landscape-was this how her story would end?

As the man tore at her clothing, her resistance only intensified, her tears glittering in the moonlight, adding to her ethereal appearance. "No... Please, no..."

She felt utterly powerless. Despair overwhelmed her, and she shut her eyes.

Suddenly, the assault ceased. The man's weight lifted off her as he fell to the ground, a pool of blood spreading from his head.

Opening her eyes, Rena saw a tall, forbidding figure standing over her, gun in hand.

His intense gaze and rugged features were imposing, his presence almost spectral in the moonlight.

Upon closer inspection, she saw blood splattered on his clothing and his hands, his haunted eyes piercing beneath slightly curled hair.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
