Or will the shadows of her past keep them apart, leaving them both to wonder what might have been?

My billion dollar bride Chapter 1 1

***Ryan's POV***

"Ryan!" Jessie whispered smacking the back of my arm silently, making me to turn my head towards her to see her scowl. "Shut your mouth. You're embarrassing them"

"Are all of them her daughters? Are the women gay or something?" Jace whispered back, unable to keep his eyes off them as he spied through the glass window.

"Not actually. Ms June has two daughters and the last girl...I don't really know where she stands out. Ms Montez, the auburn in blue, only has a daughter, but I'm not sure she's there. Apparently, they all had bad experiences with men"

"Thank God there's a new generation"

We all stared at Gray from the corner of our eyes as he rubbed his face with both hands, already trying to make a decision.

"They're so bogus. There's no way any girl in this world could look that good at that age." Jessie said, letting her irritability show. It wasn't because of Gray, it was because she felt she wouldn't look like any one of those girls...not even in her dreams.

"Why? Cause you got a moustache at eighteen?"

She gasped and covered her upper lip with both hands, "It's peach fuzz!"

I stared at her for a moment to see if she was serious then burst into laughter. "Keep telling yourself that. You might just believe it" I patted Jessie's shoulder.

"It is!"

Her voice streaked so loud, everyone turned and watched her. The guests left their mouths open and Kaitlyn, our mother, smiled, trying to break the ice. She said some words that we couldn't hear quite well and signalled us to come in.

I patted Jessie's shoulder again, while turning her about and gave her a gentle push toward the double doors that suddenly looked very intimidating.

Kaitlyn was already waiting for us by the door. By the time we walked in, she grabbed Jessie's hand and pulled her in front of the tall, yet outrageously beautiful group of girls.

"This is my daughter, Jessica. She's been dying to meet you"

"You have?"

Ms Montez's eyes popped open as she reached for her hand "Well it's an honour to meet you. I'm Gabriella Montez" she turned to the woman beside her, "This is my sister, June"

"A pleasure"

"And this is the family. My nieces, Riana, Piali and Diana. And this is my daughter, Dimple"

"Dimple?"

By the sound of her name being called, she walked slowly into the room, standing beside her mother with an expression of wide-eyed shock towards us. I turned at the sound of the soft feminine voice and raised my brows. Though my expression never said anything beyond that, inside was a different story. She wasn't the only one that was surprised.

Here was obviously Gabriella's daughter standing in the doorway of the living room with an expression of wide-eyed shock towards us.

She was gorgeous.

She had such vibrant green eyes surrounded by thick long lashes. She had long glossy auburn hair that tumbled pass her shoulders hinting at a slight curl. Her lips were parted, releasing an audible gasp and I couldn't help but look at them. They were full, lush and a perfect shade of red. She was obviously wearing make-up but she didn't need to. Her complexion was flawless even when it suddenly went pale. But that wasn't what caught my attention; it was the scorching body she crazed.

My eyes went from her black heels and slowly heatedly worked her entire form. The woman had the most delectable curves I'd ever seen. Those legs of hers were mouth-watering and seemed never-ending. They were definitely the legs of a dancer, long, firm, smooth and perfectly shaped.

Then there was the short black dress she wore that clung to every elegant curve she owned. With a strap circled around her neck and leaving her smooth, delicate shoulders bare, it was definitely created for her body and practically made those large emerald eyes of hers glow.

If I had my pick on the four young women standing right on front of me I knew just who she'd be.

"Is there a problem?"

Jessie's eyes popped and her jaw dropped when she saw her. She looked back from mother to daughter, signalling herself the resemblance. A few seconds ago she thought she might be good enough to stand between these groups but now, looking at Dimple, hearing her unique accent, paralyzed by the gorgeous dimple that flashed without Dimple even trying, she took a step back.

"Oh"

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

For three years, I was the perfect, invisible wife to Bart Brown. On our third anniversary, I stood in the kitchen for four hours, preparing his favorite meal with imported truffles, only to receive a cold text command. "Crysta fainted again. Get to the hospital. Now." My rare Rh-negative blood was the only thing the Brown family valued. Bart didn't want a wife; he wanted a walking blood bank for his "sick" best friend, Crysta. While I was fainting from chronic anemia, Crysta was smirking in her hospital bed, clutching Bart's hand and mocking my "peasant" lifestyle. Even his mother treated me like a servant, demanding I vacuum the floors after I'd already offered my veins for the hundredth time. When I finally reached my breaking point and signed the divorce papers, they didn't let me go quietly. They filed a false police report, accusing me of stealing a multi-million dollar diamond necklace just to watch me crawl. I didn't understand how a family could be so heartless. I had cooked their meals, cleaned their house, and literally bled for them, yet they were determined to ruin my life the moment I stopped being useful. Did they really think I was a nobody with nowhere to go? Standing outside the hospital with a bruised wrist and nothing to my name, I didn't cry. I simply took off my cheap wedding ring and dialed a secure line I hadn't touched since the day I married him. "It's me, Dad," I whispered as a fleet of black Maybachs rounded the corner. "The extraction is a go. I'm coming home."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.
