Dear Ex-husband, I Have Returned! Chapter 1 You're pregnant

~Avery~

MONDAY; 9AM.

I smiled happily, looking at the doctor even though I'm yet to be sure of what report I'll be getting from him but I do hope for a good news.

That's why I'm keeping my smile uptight and not trying to let anything spoil my mood, just then, he broke into a smile and handed me the report.

"Congratulations Mrs Brandon, you are four weeks pregnant." I couldn't stop myself from crying, this was what we had been hoping for for the 2 years we've been married.

Even though we started off as not so much of an in love couples but we started to navigate our feelings towards each other as time goes on.

You guessed right, it was a forced marriage but we were able to go pass the hard phase.

I thanked the doctor before leaving his office while swinging my small purse left and right happily.

I stopped placing my hand slowly on my tummy, "Mummy is going to give you the best life you'll ever dream of and guess what, daddy is going to be extremely happy to hear about you." I breathed in before stepping out of the hospital door.

My driver parked in front of me and I got into the back seat of the car after smiling at him.

I'm Avery Brown, first most rated beautiful lady in Florida, I'm married to Scott Brandon, it's been two years since our marriage and we've both learned to love each other.

Even though we didn't start on a good level but we hope for the best time together. My family are just the best.

I have a younger sister and an adopted younger sister, you can guess the rest yourself.

The car stopped pulling over at the mansion as the driver came to open the door for me, "Thanks." I thanked him as I got out walking towards the house.

As I walked in, I noticed the tension in the room but ignored it before walking closer to Scott who was beside a lady staring at each other.

At first the lady seemed to be familiar to me but I couldn't remember where I had known her so I brushed it off rushing to hug him.

"Husband." I pout but he disengaged the hug from me, the lady went beside him and I frowned at her seductive attitude.

"Can you at least give him a breathing space?." She scoffed and gave him a document. He looked at me then looked at her before holding it up, I could see the front writing and I knew it was a divorce paper.

"Is it her or me? You have to chose." She said. I stared at Scott in shock trying to comprehend whatever was happening but I couldn't find a suitable word for my shock.

Scott turned to me, I was happy he's choosing me. I don't want to know who she was but at least I'm glad he could chose me over her.

He stretched out the divorce paper to me, "Sign it." He breathed out which left me in shock.

This couldn't probably be the guy that has been fully responsible and caring to me for a year. Yes, for the first year, it was a hell and I prayed desperately every single day for a divorce but not anymore.

I thought we were starting to understand each other, "What do you mean, Scott?." I asked him not wanting to believe what he just said.

"I mean you should sign the divorce paper, I'm divorcing you." It was like my worst nightmare came true, my dream came crumbling down as my purse fell down from my hand.

"Divorce?" The first thought on my mind, no, not possible.

"Have I done something wrong? Scott, I know this all must be a joke." I moved closer to him desperately ignoring the lady beside him, I climbed on his hands with tears trickling down my cheeks.

He snatched off his hands from mine, without hesitation, he repeated those words but now more commanding, "I don't want to repeat the words Avery, sign the document, or I won't be nice."

"You should stop trying to be so self righteous now. You promised me a year ago that if the right owner of the position you held right now comes back then you'll step down for her, that was why we were able to hold on for so long."

That was the most shocking thing I'll ever heard from him. I know he never really care about anyone most especially me when we first got married but he has never acted so cold to me before.

At least, for the first year that we weren't communicating, he never acted so cold or ever did anything to make me feel wrong, never.

"What are you talking about Scott? I've never promised you anything like..." He interrupted me from speaking. Gently holding her hands, he was looking at her so affectionate.

"This is Ella , I'm sure you'll have found out about her already. She's carrying my child now. I'm not going to disgrace you so leave while I'm still nice." He said and turned back leaving without looking back at me.

I staggered back in shock, does he mean he has never felt a bit of love or emotion towards me during the two years we were together. Does he just saw me as a stumbling stone to his former relationship.

I never asked for anything more than him loving me back. That was the only thing that I asked for when we decided to let go of the past and move on with our lives. I stood up trying to go after him but was stopped by Ella, I glared at her in pure hatred.

She was the reason I was in this mess to begin with, she broke up with him because she heard Scott was already engaged since birth and the marriage was set up by his grandfather so it couldn't be cancelled.

He asked him to marry me or no one else and he believed if I hadn't appeared, then she wouldn't have left him.

That was the main reason he didn't want to see any sight of me during our first one year marriage, because I remind him of his tragedy in a relationship.

I stumbled backwards in shock unable to believe what I just heard. I could have easily accepted anything else but he said she's pregnant for him, she's carrying his child.

My tears dropped without no control as I cry out in agony, I knew already that I loved him but I kept it a secret to promote the peace we both had. I just wanted him around.

"Step out of my way." I said calmly trying to suppress my emotions. She crossed her hands together and smirked.

"What do you think? He chose me over you finally. It must have been because of the old fool that he reluctantly accepted the marriage offer, did you ever think if the old man dies today, he wouldn't divorce you." I sighed out.

Everything she was saying was out of my concern, I just wanted to know if he ever felt anything different about me, if he never for once viewed me differently.

"Everything you are saying is less a bit of my concern, I just want him to say it to me himself, that he never loved me, that's all." I said to her and glared before proceeding.

Just as I was about passing beside her, she fell down, her eyes wobbling with tears threatening to pour out. Now what?

I tried helping her out when Scott came out, pushing me away from her as he helped her up. Her tears were now pouring out.

"You really wouldn't stop at nothing huh?" He shouts at me, I could visibly see his irritated expression on his face, he had this angry tone when he spoke out.

"I... what have I done wrong?" I was speechless asking this but at the same time confused. Ella gently placed her head on his chest before speaking up.

"It wasn't her fault babe, she told me to get out of the way for her but I didn't because I was worried she might threaten you, I didn't expect her to push me down." She faked out her tears.

"You bitch." I was totally angry, I accept if she had came to snatched my husband but I didn't expect her to be so cunning.

"You were clearly the one trying to get me worked up but I didn't say anything, you said if it wasn't because of his father forcing him to accept my marriage with him, he'll never accept my marriage, you were clearly the one trying to provoke me here but I never did anything to you."

"I just wanted to pass your side when you fell." I faced Scott hoping he'll say something for me. "Scott, you know me, I'll never try to harm her, I don't have any reason to do that."

"You do have every reason to harm me, I'm destroying your marriage and now I'm pregnant with his child. You hate me, I never wanted to make you both divorced, I just wanted to be with Scott, that was all I asked for."

His expression, I know it. He didn't believe me. He chose to believe her over me. He faced sideway before talking, "Leave." He dropped the document in front of me and no doubt it'll be a divorce settlement he drafted again.

I had tore off the first one and didn't expect him to draft another one so quickly, was he really so eager to divorce me?.

Slowly taking the document, I read the details and scoffed out in tears. "You think I need your money or anything?." I signed the paper and turned back without looking back, "I really hope one day when you realize what you've done, it wouldn't be too late."

I didn't need to tell him about my pregnancy because I don't see any reason to, he doesn't deserve to be the father of my baby.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancĆ©, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

For seven years, I drank the bitter tonic my fiancƩ, Alpha Adrian, gave me, believing it would cure my "wolfless" defect. I was wrong. It was poison. He wasn't trying to heal me; he was keeping me weak so he could replace me with my foster sister, Ariel. When the fire consumed the Alpha's Wing, I was trapped under a burning beam, my legs crushed. Adrian kicked down the door. I reached out to him, screaming for help. But he didn't look at me. He looked at Ariel, who was lying on the floor in a silk nightgown. He scooped her up, cradling her like she was the only thing that mattered. I begged him not to leave me. Instead of helping, he used his Alpha Command on me, his voice booming with supernatural weight. "Stay put! I'll be back for you!" It was a lie. He used his power to freeze me in the inferno and left me to burn alive. I survived, only to watch him publicly reject me for her the next day, with my own father's blessing. They called me a "genetic dead end." They thought I would crawl away and die in shame. I didn't. I limped up the mountain to the Neutral Lands to find the one man everyone fears-the exiled Alpha, Garth Morgan. "I have the Gamma Bloodline Scroll," I told the massive figure emerging from the shadows. "I don't want your gratitude," Garth growled, his eyes like storm clouds. "I'm not here for gratitude," I replied, staring him down. "I'm here to make a deal with the devil."
