The Billionaire's Reckless Decision Chapter 1 The sealed deal Diana's POV

Romance movies are starting to get so predictable to me.

It's not like I did not know this but I can never just get enough of it.

I cannot just believe they did not have a happily ever after. What kind of romance movie is this?

I have just finished watching the last episode of my favorite TV show and I cannot believe the ending ruined whatever I loved about the movie for me. How could they kill him off after they have recently just found each other? I can't imagine myself in her shoes right now.

"Did you just see the ending of "My Love is Cupid?" I ask as I call my best friend, Laura.

She was quiet for a while and then she sniffed loudly. Something is wrong. She is crying. I have the perfect guess about where this came from, but I should actually be sure before I take action.

We are both die-hard fans of romance, and I especially hope to find my one true love someday and disappear from the rest of the world. It would be the best thing to ever happen to me.

Make no mistake, I have a father who adores me and I am a golden child. I have just graduated from the university at the top of my class and now, I am preparing for my master's degree program.

My love for romance has turned me into a couch potato for movies and books, and I don't even care if no one gets it, but fortunately, Kim does, and my dad too, so I don't care about the rest of the world.

I heard my dad come in from the front door and I rushed to meet him.

"Could you believe Damon died at the end of the movie?"

"Which movie?"

"The one I have been watching." He rolled his eyes, obviously lost as I fought the urge to laugh. Obviously, he was lost, and I perfectly understood how he could be.

"You have been watching a lot of movies love. I cannot follow."

"Ouch!" I Feign hurt as I take his bag from him and head into the living room. I bounced after hum while still daydreaming about what happened, momentarily forgetting all about Laura.

"You sound tired."

"I am tired. Work has been pretty demanding and I am sure if I don't get a raise and a promotion, I might have to start worrying about going bankrupt in the next couple of years.

"You don't have to worry about that, Dad. I will get a job as soon as I finish studying and make lots of money." It was the only thing I could promise my father. He has given everything to take care of me, and this was the point where I wished Mum never got sick.

My Mum was the daughter of a very wealthy old money family, but as soon as she became sick an in a coma, they withheld all my inheritance because they did not like the idea of my dad being in control of it. I was onl to get the inheritance when I got married.Things begann to get worse because my Dad had relied too much on my M,um and it affected him.

"I know, my child but I need something that would happen soon. You know, my darling, ever since your mum left us, I have wanted to give you the best in life and even you can attest to the fact that I have done my best to give you that."

I have a feeling he had something on his mind but something tells me that I am not going to like it, whatever it is.

My dad is no doubt the best in the world and after all he has done for me, I cannot wish for a better dad. I was only four when Mum got sick. She was sick and she needed to get better. She blamed her dad for everything that happened to her. How she used to be a star before she got pregnant with me and how she got sick right after giving birth and then she could not deal with it and left eventually. It was mental sickness and I hated the fact that there was nothing even the doctors could do about it.

We did not know what kind of sickness she had exactly but she could not be persuaded to say despite that she was about to leave her only daughter alone with a father who knew close to nothing about taking care of a kid. Her family had insisted it was for the best. She was flo out of the country and since then, I haven't heard a word from her.

"What are you thinking about, Dad?"

"If you are worried about money, I will go hunting for a job tomorrow, it would help us make more."

"Oh, my sweet daughter! You are the best thing that has happened to me and I couldn't wish for a better daughter."

I sighed as he ruffled my hair.

"Some men will be coming here soon, let me know as soon as they get here."

He said as he headed to his room.

Just now, he seemed like there was something he wanted to say but he was delaying it for a reason.

I don't like him feeling down, especially for something he cannot help. I know about how he has wanted to be promoted toa muchh higher position at work for a whil,ow and no matter how close he got to it, it always ended up getting taken away fromhim. Itt seemed there was an openingagain,n and he would do anything this time around to get it.

I know my dad. He has put in so much work for the company for a long time and he expected that the position automatically belonged to him.

I sighed as I heard the doorbell ring and then I went to get it. It was an old man and a middle-aged men. The middle-aged man carried a briefcase and as soon as I opened the door, they handed the briefcase to me and left without a word.

I wondered why he asked me to get him if I could receive the message for hi,m but I called him downstairs nevertheles,s and as soon as he saw the briefcase in my hand, he immediately grabbed it from me in a very frightening manner which made me wonder what the content of the bag was.

"Dad, you are acting weird."

He ignored me as he looked at the briefcase with so much pride and smiled to himself.

"Yes, my daughter. We shall never have to worry about poverty again."

"What are you talking about? Just now, you were worried that you would..."

He suddenly grabbed me by my shoulders and made me sir.

"This briefcase contains money and everything I need to become the supervisor but there is a condition that comes with it."

"What do you mean? Why does that briefcase contain money and who is it for?"

"It is for u,s my dea; welll, technicall,y it is for m,e but there is something I need to tell you. I don't know exactly how to say thi,s but you know I love you with all my hear,t and there is nothing in n this world that I won't do for you. You know how much I have suffered to get you to where you are right now and it is only right that I ask you to do something so little for me."

"What are you talking about, Dad?"

"The Blooms have decided that my most desired position is mine if I can give your hand out in marriage to their son."

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
