Sienna Valeria Storm thought her only crime was surviving. As the last Ruby Wolf, she has been hunted, accused of murdering an Alpha, and forced into hiding. But when she stumbles into the path of Kieran Draven Wolfe, the most feared Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack, her fate is sealed. He offers her a choice-stand trial and face execution or become his mate to break his deadly curse. But Kieran isn't the only one drawn to her. Ronan Voss, an assassin from her forgotten past, has been ordered to kill her, yet his heart refuses. Caius Blackthorne, a vampire prince, offers her power in exchange for her loyalty. As the Celestial Trials force her to choose a mate, dark forces rise, and secrets long buried begin to surface. Because the Midnight Syndicate doesn't just want her dead-they want her power. And the truth? If she bonds with the wrong mate, she could doom them all. She was born a legend. She will die a queen-or a monster.

Chapter 1 The Last Ruby Wolf

Sienna's POV

"She went this way!" Someone yelled, running through the woods.

I kept running, ignoring the branches and tall grasses hitting my body. I panted, my feet getting tired.

I was tired, but I couldn't stop. If they caught me, then I was as good as dead. I rested behind a tree, trying to catch my breath.

"I see her!" One of the men shouted.

"Shit!" I groaned and continued running.

Please help me. Moon Goddess. Please. I didn't....I can't anymore. Please.

A sharp thorn from a plant scratched my knee, and I yelped.

"Goddamn it!"

"Find her!" One of the men yelled. They were closing in on me.

I needed more time. I couldn't face them. They would kill me.

"Dear goddess, what do I do?" I murmured, and closed my eyes for a second.

I transformed into my wolf form, it was the best chance I had now and I opened my eyes.

My wolf was a bright red with white undertone fur. My wolf was bigger than the regular teenage wolves and I started to run, howling with the moon.

Half of the men picked on my scent and they transformed also, dashing through the forest like mad animals. They were the Midnight Syndicate assassins. Some were humans, and the others werewolves like myself but they all had one thing in common. To get my head.

I should have never been found this quickly. I had been very careful, making sure to never stay in one place for more than a night. Yet, somehow, they had tracked me and worse I was weaker because of my monthly flow.

Someone must have betrayed me, but who?

I had cut all connections.

Who could have done this to me?

Their howls grew louder, making me shudder as I pushed forward.

I can do this. I just have to make it to the border. Faster Sienna.

They kept gnawing and I was beginning to lose my pace. I noticed them catching up by my side, snarling their teeth ready to dig into my skin.

The other men followed in their bikes.

How did they...?

My heart raced with fear and I charged myself to run faster.

Moon Goddess. I need help. Send me help, please. If you can hear me!

The men laughed, driving their bikes. "We've got you now."

One of them neared me stretching his hand to grab me and I snarled. He chuckled, and aimed again. When he couldn't get me, he brought out his gun, cocking it.

I had to act quickly.

Think, Sienna. Think.

My vision suddenly became blurry from tiredness. My lungs were tired, and I heaved, still pushing on as I ran.

Then I saw it, a crumbling structure hidden within the trees.

I created a diversion, halting immediately and the bikes collided. The wolves chasing behind pounced on me, but I dodged in time, and dashed to the other lane avoiding their claws and teeth.

My wolf tumbled down the grass and I dug my claws into the grass to slow my pace.

I hissed, feeling the pain hit my claw. The moment I stopped, I turned and continued running, grateful I had lost them. I kept running into the ruins of an old pack house.

I felt hopeful. I knew that would catch my scent soon, but I could lose them inside.

I kept moving, stumbling on the old packhouse, and entered. It smelt of decay and dust. The moonlight shone from the collapsed roof, and spread to the shattered furniture and moss-covered stone.

I stopped, resting against the nearest wall standing and breathed. I had less than a minute to rest.

I shifted back into my human form, panting. I was almost naked. Shifting into my wolf form earlier had torn everything. I was left in a shredded underwear.

Just then, I felt it. A presence. It was cold and terrifying.

I wasn't alone. I moved, looking around as quickly as I could trying to catch the strange presence.

Something moved behind me and I turned, but it seemed I was slower and a hand grabbed my throat, throwing me to the ground.

I let out a low growl, struggling against my attacker's chest. His scent was familiar, but he was covered from head to toe and wore a dark mask, just like his clothes.

"Let me go," I said, struggling to free myself.

His amber eyes turned darker yet softer and his gaze moved down my neck.

"You pervert!" I screamed, trying to get him off me.

"You can scream in the grave," he said coldly and pulled out a dagger.

I stared at him in horror, my eyes pleading to live.

"You should have kept running. It's fun watching you," he murmured.

My fingernails dig into his wrist, yet he didn't show any pain. "Go to hell," I cursed.

"Let me take you there first," he answered and raised his finger, his claws growing thicker and longer and he pinned me down, choking me with his other hand.

"Goodbye, Sienna," he said and I struggled under him.

His claws came down. I closed my eyes, but he hesitated.

A different howl came from our side, and we instinctively and slowly turned to where the sound came from.

From the shadows, a huge wolf appeared, clothed in thick dark fur. I felt instant fear, watching the strong beast appear from the door. Its eyes glowing, a strong gold.

"Oh, hell no," the assassin murmured.

We're dead.

It gnarled, baring its teeth and I shivered. If I moved now, I might have a chance of escape.

"Get off," I ordered, but the man wasn't moving his hands. "Please," I begged.

The black wolf took a step and I screamed. "Get the fuck off!"

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
