Ella Johnson had spent so long wishing that the moon goddess mated her to her best friend, Keith Kingston, who was the son of their alpha. But her best friend rejects her on the spot when this happens and sells her to the Kennedy brothers. Feeling like her life couldn't be more surprising, she soon finds out that all three of the brothers are her mates and each of them is ready to turn the earth upside down for her even though they bully her.

Chapter 1 Unexpected Fall

My foot slipped from the side of the chair and I went tumbling to the ground with a loud thud as I landed on my buttocks. I thought I heard something snap in my wrist as I tried to hold myself up with it, and it forced a groan out of me.

"Ella!"

I looked up and noticed Keith rushing towards me. He crouched down beside me, his squinting blue eyes fixed on me with worry buzzing through them.

"I'm fine." I responded with a smile, trying to hide the graze on my wrist.

"I told you to be careful! I don't know what will happen to me if you get hurt like that." His honeyed voice sang with fear and worry.

I found myself smiling. Keith was the son of our reigning alpha, alpha Edwin Kingston, and soon, he would take his father's place. He will turn nineteen today and tomorrow, he will be named alpha of the silver thistle pack.

Luckily for me, I got to grow up with him. After my parents passed away while protecting the Luna, they decided to take me in as a reward for their braveness, and they saw to it that I was comfortable.

It happened when I was seven and that was when I met Keith. Ever since then, we have been glued to the hips alongside Tiara, our third friend who is our beta's daughter.

We shared the same birthdays, Keith and I, and he had insisted on throwing a party to celebrate not just him this time but me as well.

It didn't matter though, because I would forever be a shadow to everyone else. As long as he noticed me, I was fine.

"I'm not hurt, I'm fine, seriously." I responded with a warm smile.

His hand suddenly cupped my cheek and caressed it softly. "You know you are important to me, right?"

I felt my heart skip a beat. Whenever he touched me, I usually lost grip on reality. I could feel Ida-- my wolf-- hopping about inside me, and I was glad to know we shared the same excitement.

All we ever did in our free time was pray to the moon goddess that she let him be our mate. It was impossible to be this attracted to someone without a mate bond holding us together.

His slightly full red lips curved into a smile as if he purposely taunted me, knowing that I would freeze when he touched me like that.

"How will you hang up the decorations if you keep falling off the chair?" Tiara asked as she swayed into the room.

I immediately sprung to my feet and cleared my throat. We weren't doing anything wrong, but her entrance saved me from losing my mind completely.

"Hey," I smiled. "It only happened one time, okay? I can do it."

"I'll do it." He picked up the fallen banner and stretched his long hand to hook it up.

What I had to do on a chair, he had done standing on the ground. But I wasn't surprised because I was the shortest in our friendship group. My head was just as tall as his shoulders and my petite stature made me feel smaller.

"Everything is ready except the celebrants." Tiara noted. "Will you do me the honor of dressing you, princess?" She asked with a soft smile.

I nodded my head and wrapped my arms around hers as we went to my room.

Tiara was the same age as us, but she acted like our older sister. If only I had long cherry hair like she did, they'd find it hard to pick us apart as not being siblings.

She always wore a dark shade of brown eye-shadow around her big pale blue eyes and her small lips were always a shade of deep orange.

A small gold earring pierced her straight pointed nose and a loving smile touched her eyes as we walked to my room.

Rummaging through my pretty clothes, I ended up in a tight-blue dress that almost matched my ocean blue eyes. A long slit preceded from the bottom all the way up to my thigh and the v-neck revealed my bosom.

My light blonde hair was let loose over my shoulders and allowed to fall back all the way to my hips and I applied-- for the first time-- a little make-up.

I was so excited! Ida more than me.

In our pack, we got our wolf when we turned eighteen and then our mate at nineteen. I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen when I walked out there into the party thrown for me and Keith.

I kept imagining a scenario where I walked outside and felt the mate bond stronger than ever with Keith.

Oh, I was so excited!

"Is the woman of the day ready to go out there?" Tiara's loving smile touched her face.

"I keep thinking about Keith and the fact that he could actually be my mate!" I had confided in her about the way I felt about him, since I had no friends or family. "What do you think will happen?"

Her smile wavered or so I thought. She reached out and touched my shoulder. "Let's just hope you find a man who will love you and care properly for you. That doesn't have to be Keith."

I guess she worried about what our friendship would become if Keith and I started dating. A smile curved my lips. With a heavy sigh, I proclaimed, "Let's do this..."

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
