Amber's life changes completely after crossing paths with Oblivion-the mysterious and masked Alpha of the Sypher pack. Earlier, her fated mate, Alpha Cedric denies her pregnancy and rejects her on the eve of their anniversary. As if that wasn't enough, she catches him cheating on her with her best friend that same night. Five years later, Amber crosses paths with Cedric again and this time, as a strong, resilient and powerful Luna. Cedric sees her and her son, and tries to win her back but it's too late. She sneers at him and replies coldly. "I am no longer yours, Cedric-I belong to the masked Alpha!"

Chapter 1 The dark anniversary

AMBER

My hands shuddered as I stared at the pregnancy test strip I was holding. The two pink lines were lucid and accurate, unmistakable as they read positive.

Tears of joy blurred my vision as I shut my eyes and wrapped my arms around my belly tightly.

"I'm going to be a mother." I whispered, letting all the tears flow freely down my cheeks. My wolf purred inside me, equally excited as I leaned backwards on the wall.

A knock on my door forced my eyes open. The knock came a second time, followed by a gentle voice.

"Luna Amber-" the voice called out, "the Alpha is waiting for you downstairs."

"Be there in a minute." I replied, wiping my tear-streaked eyes.

This was going to be the best day of my life. It was the eve of my mating anniversary with Cedric. We were going to celebrate not only our anniversary, but also our pup on the way.

I was planning to tell him on our anniversary tomorrow, but I was too excited and wanted to tell him right away.

I walked out of my room in a gold dress and made my way down the stairs.

The living room was a bit crowded. All the pack officials and high ranked pack members including my mother, were seated at the table which had all kinds of delicacies. They were all prepared because tomorrow was going to be a big day.

I went immediately and cuddled my mother. She was happy for me and I couldn't wait to tell her that she was going to be a grandmother.

"You look gorgeous, my love." she flattered me, causing me to giggle.

"Thanks mother," I nodded, smiling as I looked around but Cedric wasn't at the table yet.

Just when I was about to ask my mother about him, he walked into the room but as soon as he walked in, something felt off.

He stared at me coldly and didn't say a word. I was utterly perplexed at his strange behaviour and as I tried to approach him, he held his phone in front of my face, showing me his screen.

"What is the meaning of this?" he growled, causing everyone at the table to turn their gaze at us.

"W...what are you talking about?" I stuttered, my brows squinted in confusion.

"So you have been sleeping with someone else outside our marriage?" he growled again, this time, causing everyone to gasp.

"What?" I froze in complete shock.

"Here take a look and tell me that isn't you!" he roared, handing his phone to me. I swiped through the pictures and I couldn't believe what I was seeing, A nude picture of myself and another man? How come?

"Babe please-you can't believe this," I pleaded as my voice hitched, "This is not me, it's fake-"

I tried to hold his hand but he swatted it away and turned to the pack officials at the table.

"Look at her!" he yelled, pointing at me. Then he switched his gaze towards my mother.

"Look at your daughter, Lyanna!

I gave her everything! I made her my Luna not because of her father's wish, but because I loved her with all my heart and how did she repay me?!"

I stared at him in distress, still trying to process what was going on-it all happened so fast. I dashed forward and fell at his feet with tears streaming down my cheeks.

"Please," I began, my throat dried as I swallowed hard, "Someone must have done this. I promise those pictures are fake! You have to believe me."

I looked up and saw everyone at the table staring down at me coldly. There was no greater offence in a pack than for Luna to cheat on the Alpha, it was unforgivable.

I held onto Cedric's leg, begging him to believe me but he wasn't listening. He turned his gaze towards me and pushed me away.

"How could you do this to me Amber?!" he roared in a thunderous voice, causing me to flinch. "We had been married for barely one year and you're already cheating on me? You couldn't even give me an heir!"

But he was wrong, I was carrying his child. If only he would listen to me. But there was no way to prove my innocence. The evidence was there.

"Mother please-" I ran to where my mother was as tears dripped from her eyes.

"Please tell his mother-tell them I would never do such a thing please-" I cried but she didn't say a word. She gave me the coldest stare I had ever received in my life, then she stood up and left.

"Mother please!" I sobbed out loud, "I didn't do it." but she didn't turn back.

"Babe please, don't do this to me-" I turned to Cedric, still crying. I tried to reach him but he pushed me away again.

"It's too late, Amber," he whispered, staring deeply into my soul.

"Let everyone here bear me witness that my mate has committed atrocity against me by sleeping with another man, the evidence is here!" Cedric yelled to the hearing of everyone in the room.

That moment, I knew what was coming. Even if he was going to reject me, not this way. Not In front of the entire pack, not the night before our mating anniversary and especially not now when I'm carrying his child.

"Amber Lucent, on this very night, I reject you as my mate and Luna. I will let you stay in the pack for the sake of your father Alpha Bernard, but you will no longer be my Luna

You will be considered an omega from now henceforth!" Cedric declared, glaring deeply into my eyes as the pack officials sat there still puzzled.

Those words from Cedric sent cold dreads down my spine. One moment I was excited for my anniversary and the next, I was being rejected. But Cedric wasn't done yet.

"Now grab your stuff and get the fuck out of my house! I don't want to see you when I get back!" he growled.

As soon as he said this, he walked out of the house and drove off. I sprawled on the ground, crying. None of the pack officials said a word to me-they all left me there on the ground.

Cedric's words pierced my heart like a double edged sword as I contemplated them. I couldn't believe what just happened.

In a split second, I took my phone out and dialed Astrid's number. She was my best friend and the only one I could turn to at that moment.

"Hey babe," Astrid's voice carried through the phone, "how's the celebrations going-?"

"Astrid," I caught her in the middle of her words. "Astrid, I'm in big trouble."

"What happened?" she asked, her voice raised in curiosity.

"Astrid, I need your help."

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
