Chapter 1 One

Liz's POV

The nice scents of the flowers that surrounded me, and the beautiful sight of the hall coupled with wonderful people. Gracious sights, dropping fountains in the middle of the room, the chandeliers were giving.

I watched how the whole room was dignified with love and excitement, there, my friend, Sarah was with me. Smiling and giggling.

"You're getting married, beautiful."

Her eyes spoke excitement and her smile, I couldn't help but be grateful for having a good friend like her.

"Thank you, Sarah." I hugged her after dressing me up, looked straight at the mirror and felt at ease.

"I should go call your mum?" She said cutting away from the hug,

"And, that'll be for what?"

"To rate your dress up. You know I love compliments."

"Well, don't you think the compliments should come from me?"

"That's right, but your mum, she definitely knows how to give compliments better than you," I nodded and smiled.

"......a few minutes please."

She dropped her small mirror and dashed out of the room in a haste. I took a deep breath, I didn't even know who I was getting married to. Father said it was for the company's good and I believed him. He'll never let me unto a man that doesn't love me.

I kept looking straight at the mirror, wondering what would be next after that young lady got married. Will it be a child soon? Or just his love all over me? I really couldn't wait to figure it out.

"Hey, sweetheart. What are you doing there?"

I was sitting on the stool with my eyes straight at the wall. Silent and shivering softly, I didn't notice my mum came in and I must have walked down to the wall unconsciously. Damn! I was really scared. I just couldn't figure out what to do.

"Sweetheart?"

"Yes, mum." I smiled, dusting my dress and standing up to move closer to her. She held my face and smiled.

"You'll be fine, darling. I know what you're going through."

No, no, I didn't want her to know I was scared, I've tried pulling on a smiling face the whole time. I smiled widely again.

"I'm fine, mum. I'm just so excited that I'm getting married, and quickly "

"Yeah, I got you. You'll do great, trust me. You just need to listen to your husband, and you'll make a good wife and a lovable mother." She assured me.

I felt like I was making the right choice and it would work out well for the company. I have to take up my family's business.

"Thanks mum." The door opened again.

"Sarah, there you are."

"Here I am, so has she told you how beautiful you look?"

"Yeah, she has and she told me a lot more than that. Thanks to you."

She smiled and waved her hand giving the ' I didn't do anything' face. I turned away from her face.

" I don't know what to do, Sarah."

"And that's why I'm here for you."

A drop of tear fell from my eye and I couldn't hold it back but poured it all out.

"Hey, hey. You shouldn't wear out your pretty face." Sarah hugged me and cleaned off my wet face.

"Like your mum said, you'll do great. You have never let us down and you won't. I trust you."

She gave me a kiss on my forehead and held my hand.

"It's time to go now, everyone's waiting."

I followed her quietly and every voice in the room went silent. I was really nervous but I held it together. Walking down the stairs, I saw him, standing right beside his father, I guessed.

He smiled and I looked away, my heart started to beat fast, I didn't know what to do. Then I felt a hand, held me real tight and I pulled myself together.

"Just smile, okay?" Her tiny and comforting voice I remembered, my mother always had this stillness in her voice that made me feel safe. I accepted it and walked confidently to the man that caught my heart when I looked at him.

He stepped forward in the process and took my hands, progressed in looking straight at my eyes, his hands felt so soft on mine, as he held me and said the vows. Our eyes pointed straight at each other. It was blissful. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and claps as our lips melted into each other.

How did I do that? How could I kiss a man I just met passionately? I don't even know him well.

I kept the smile on my face avoiding awkward looks over me.

"Congratulations, Mrs Rashford, welcome to the house."

"Mrs Rashford?" I smiled back at the man smiling at me, he stood beside him, the man I was married to a few minutes ago.

The man I'll spend the rest of my life with.

We left the altar right before anyone. My mum hid her face from me after she gave a kiss on my forehead.

"We'll come visit," she said as she went away. My father came close,

"Go make us proud, baby."

I smiled and cried finally. The tears I've been keeping together all this time, it dropped without giving a warning.

"We should go now." My newly wedded husband took my hands and walked me to the car.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."
