Too Late, Mr. CEO: Watch Me Shine

Too Late, Mr. CEO: Watch Me Shine

Nieves Gómez
Kayla stood outside the CEO suite, holding a custom suit for her fiancé, Brennon. They had spent seven years building a tech company from a freezing garage into a billion-dollar empire. But through the cracked door, she heard the breathy laugh of Evelin, the newly hired director. Then came Brennon's low, careless voice. "The wedding's a PR milestone for the IPO, nothing more." Kayla's blood turned to ice. "She's comfortable. Makes sense on paper," Brennon continued. "But you, Evelin. You understand ambition." The betrayal hit her like a physical blow. She had written the core code that made him a billionaire. She had stayed up until 4 AM debugging while he slept on a futon. Now, he was mocking their relationship to his mistress and handing over her life's work to a woman who couldn't even read a data log. Seven years of loyalty, reduced to a PR stunt. She didn't cry. Instead, a cold, violent clarity washed over her. Why should she let him keep the crown she forged? Without a word, she pulled the three-carat diamond off her finger and dropped it into her bag. She walked out of the building, drafted her resignation, and accepted a VP position at his biggest Wall Street rival. It was time to show Brennon what happened when the real genius behind his empire decided to tear it down.

"yes I made it " I said I was in walked into the library.

It has been long I have visited the library. The library has always been my sanctuary. A place where I escape the reality of life.A place where the world's chaos faded into the background, leaving only the comforting scent of old books and the promise of new adventures. Library is my temporary home because that's the only place I feel alive.

Rows of dusty volumes of books lined the shelves, each one a treasure waiting to be discovered. As much as I love books , I have always had one secret that I have kept to my self. Yes I can talk to books and make every word in it feel alive. I have discovered this at a tender age when I get abused I always go to library to cry out my grief. Till a day I heard a voice from someone I never knew where the voices were coming from till I heard a voice that said "pick me" when I picked the books , I discovered that every pages in book felt alive.

Walking down the aisles, my fingers lightly traced the spines of the books as I passed. "Hello, old friends," I whispered with a smile, feeling a sense of familiarity and warmth. It was as if the books were alive, each one holding stories and secrets just waiting to be shared.

At the end of the aisle, a particular book caught my eye. Its cover was worn and faded, but there was something about it that drew me in. I picked it up, flipping through the pages and feeling a connection with the words and stories within.

"Ah, you have a story to tell, don't you?" I said softly, holding the book close to my chest. "I can't wait to hear it."

Finding a cozy corner, I settled down with the book, opening it to the first page. As I read, the words seemed to come alive, as if the book itself was speaking directly to me.

"Why are you this worn out and torn" I said as I observed the pages of each book but the book seems to ignore my question.

"Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom..." the book began, immersing me in a tale of adventure, love, and magic. The characters were vivid, their emotions palpable, and I found myself completely engrossed in their world.

One more secret I have when ever I'm reading story book is I find myself in the world of the book feeling every character and all it seem is like I'm sitted in the story while i watch a live cinema in front of me.

Hours seemed to fly by as I lost myself in the story, the outside world fading away until there was only me and the book. Every twist and turn, every moment of joy and sorrow, resonated with me on a deep level.

"Wow, that's quite a twist!" I exclaimed at one point, turning the page eagerly. "I never saw that coming!"

The book seemed to respond, the words resonating with a warmth and understanding that made me smile.

"I know, right?" I replied, feeling a sense of camaraderie with the book. "Life is full of surprises."

As I continued to read, I found myself talking back to the book more and more, asking questions, sharing my thoughts and feelings, and feeling as though the book was answering me in its own special way. The only thing I know is I'm the only that can hear the voice of the book but I don't know if I'm the only one who can talk to books.

Eventually, I reached the end of the book, and a sense of satisfaction washed over me. "Thank you for sharing your story with me," I said, closing the book gently. "It was a pleasure to read."

"Take me home and repair my pages" I heard the book said that to me

"No... No, I can't do that but I promise I will help you bring new covers and everything needed to get you repaired when next I come"I promised and I realized that a light that was coming out of the got off. Anytime a book does this to me, it only means two things, the book is angry with me or a page has been ripped off but now it only means one thing . The book is definitely angry with me .

"Hey... I can't take you out of this place , it's a library I cant take you out"i pleaded and the light came up , i guess the book has forgiven me .

I looked around and realized that the library was nearly empty, the sun beginning to set outside. I reluctantly stood up, feeling a sense of contentment and fulfillment then I returned the book back to where I took it from and I walked towards the door.

"Bye little friend"

As I walked out of the library, the setting sun cast a warm golden glow over the world. I felt grateful for the time I'd spent with my books, and I looked forward to the many stories and adventures that awaits me and i walked back home.
