Miranda's POV
I sat outside the Torres in my father's massive house. My name is Miranda and I have two siblings.
"Miranda, dinner is ready" my younger brother James said from my bedroom door.
"Ok" I replied looking back at the beauty of the city.
After watching for sometime, I went downstairs to have dinner. I noticed everyone was quiet as I reached the dining table.
"Miranda take your seat" dad said as I looked at everyone suspiciously. I nodded at him in reply.
"Miranda"
"Yes dad"
"You know you're 21 years old and your already matured for an adult life"
"Yeah dad, but why are you saying all these?" I asked him dropping my fork.
"Well my friend, Mr Brown came to my office this morning with a marriage proposal for you" I stopped in my track as he finished talking.
"What?"
"Yes and he said they will be coming tomorrow to see you, so get ready"
"Really? But dad am not ready for marriage yet" I told him sternly.
"And Andrew Brown is a good man for you because he's intelligent, smart, well
behaved, sensible and also wealthy so there would be no need to worry about him"
"But am n......"
"Look Miranda, am not ready for this argument right now because this marriage is going to take place" he said and left.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. I raised my head, my eyes meeting Mom's.
"Miranda darling, don't be sad about this, okay? He's a good man, though I didn't want you to get married to him not until I saw him and how he behaved" she said assuringly.
"But mom am not yet ready for marriage and I've never seen or spoken to him before."
"Don't worry about that dear, you will like him, now smile and eat your dinner" she said going back upstairs.
I looked at my food as tears began running down my cheeks, I've already lost appetite. I ran upstairs to my room, closing the door and resting my back on the door. Everything dad said began running back to my mind. I started having shortness of breath. Oh!!! God I didn't take my pills and my inhaler, fuck!!!. I grasped holding the wall to find balance.
I rolled on the ground trying to reach my inhaler in my cupboard. I felt hot tears rush down my eyes.
"Miranda!!!!" I heard mom yell my name from my bedroom doorstep.
"Where's your inhaler?" She asked looking around my room. I tried pointing at the cupboard close to my bed but I felt weak. She understood quickly and brought it to me. I inhaled as much as I could as I panted heavily.
"Come on, come to bed and rest you must be tired" mum said helping me to my bed. She patted my head for a while before I fell asleep.

The early morning sun shone directly on my eyes making me rub my eyes. I got up from the bed and did my morning exercises.
After taking a cool shower, I took my drugs and put on a big pink hoodie with a light blue jean trouser. I went downstairs to have breakfast.
"Miranda, hope you've taken your pills?" Mum asked me concernly.
"Yes mom, I took it"
"Ok come and have your breakfast dear" she made us pancakes with fried eggs, bacon and tea.
"Mom, dad am off to work" I told them both after having my breakfast.
"Be back early, remember Andrew and his family will be coming tonight" dad said, eyes still on his newspapers.
"Yeah" I responded.
