The night was quiet, yet Sebastian Hale could never find peace. Sebastian took the folder, his fingers brushing hers briefly. He noticed the hesitation in her gaze, the unspoken thoughts lingering between them. Jennifer had worked for him for years, but she knew better than to expect anything more than his indifference.
