Sometimes life smiles at us, and at other times, it frowns. Authoress POV Meet Cali Rillion, a 22-year-old young woman struggling to make ends meet. After the tragic death of her parents in a fatal car accident, Cali is left with the responsibility of caring for herself and her younger brother. Cali's parents were wealthy business tycoons-successful and respected. Unfortunately, envy followed their success. Two years ago, they were ambushed by jealous rivals, an attack that resulted in their deaths disguised as a fatal car crash. At just 20 years old, Cali was forced to grow up fast. She took on the responsibility of caring for herself and her little brother, Edward, after their aunt, Rita, seized all their parents' properties. Left with no other choice, Cali began searching for a job. Sadly, for years, most employers were more interested in exploiting her than helping her survive. Eventually, she settles for a secretary position at B&S Incorporated, a company owned by the famous billionaire, Bryan Smith. Bryan Smith, 25 years old, is a wealthy playboy who has no interest in settling down, despite constant pressure from his mother, Rachel Smith. Now, Bryan finds himself in need of a woman who can pretend to be his fiancée during his mother's stay at his mansion. As for Cali, her life is a complete mess, and she desperately needs $200,000 to solve her problems. Extract from the story "Do you really need this job?" he asked. What is wrong with this billionaire? If I didn't need this job, would I even be here? I thought angrily, hissing inwardly. I nodded and muttered a quiet yes. "So, how desperate are you?" he asked, leaning back in his chair as he waited my reply

TRAPPED BY MR CEO TO BE HIS FIANCÉE Chapter 1 THE INTERVIEW

CALI

Drrrhhhhh! My alarm rang, jolting me awake. Gosh-today is my interview at B&S Incorporate. I sprang out of bed and rushed into the bathroom. I couldn't afford to be late. Not today.

When I was done in the bathroom, I cleaned up quickly and slipped into a white gown. I paired it with red slippers and tied my hair into a neat ponytail using a red ribbon. Opening my file, I took out my CV and other important documents I'd need for the interview and placed them carefully into my red bag.

I rushed into the kitchen and prepared cheese and macaroni. I served my portion and poured the rest into a flask for my brother. I ate quickly and was done in no time, then headed to Edward's room to wake him up.

"Edward," I called softly, tapping him lightly as he rolled over on the bed.

"Huuhh," he muttered sleepily.

I smiled, then tapped him harder. He jerked upright, rubbing his eyes.

"We are on holidays, sis, for crying out loud!" he yelled, then covered his mouth when he realized what he had done. If I wasn't in a hurry, I would have hit him.

"Cali," he called, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Don't you know you have an appointment with the doctor?" I asked, yelling at him.

"Okay," he replied, bowing his head.

"Sorry," I said softly.

He raised his head and laughed. Gosh-he had played a prank on me. He ran back into the bedroom and locked the door behind him. I scurried out of the house. Luckily, I found a cab that took me straight to the company.

After paying the cab driver, I stepped out and stared at the massive building before me. Inside, the receptionist was kind enough to direct me to the interview room. When I got there, I counted over fifteen ladies waiting.

Thank goodness I wasn't late.

Most of them were dressed in revealing outfits with heavy makeup. I took the only available seat and clutched my bag tightly to myself.

After a while, a girl rushed out of the interview room. She was wearing a very tight, short gown-one would think she came to seduce someone rather than attend an interview. Her makeup was smeared from crying, which meant she hadn't gotten the job.

I eyed her briefly, but my thoughts were interrupted when I heard my name called from the interview room. I stood up and hurried inside.

As I entered the office, my gaze collided with Smith Bryan.

Gosh. He was incredibly handsome.

I tried to hide my blush and quickly looked away. I could admire him later-if I got this job. For now, I had to focus.

First things first.

Sit he said and I sat down and brought out my CV and handed it to him trust me I was super scared I've never been scared for an interview but Bryan Smith is not an easy boss and with the numerous competitions involved in this post I don't know what to expect.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
