No one can believe it when the runt of the pack, the wolfless kitchen slave, is pregnant by the alpha. She is hated, she is unfit to be Luna, undeserving to be the alpha's mate, but Draka has decided to become brave for the first time for herself and for her unborn child. She decides to run to save herself and her young pup, but what's waiting for her in the outside world? What has the seemingly cold Alpha been protecting her from when he kept her under lock and key?

The Alpha's Mate Is The Kitchen Girl Chapter 1 1

Draka's pov

"Faster, dummy! Wash all my clothes and make sure that my shoes are sparkling like diamonds!" Claire yells as she drives her knee into my stomach.

I fall into the stream, the throbbing pain from her kick causes my eyes to sting with tears. She is the lowest member of this pack, but even she has more power than I can ever imagine.

She was a mere human until one year ago, but she is bullying me, even though I was born a pure breed.

The difference between her and I is the fact that she has a wolf now, and I don't. I never got my wolf, even after my sixteenth birthday.

That's why I'm the laughingstock of the pack. I cook and clean for all of them in exchange for the protection of the Alpha and Luna of my pack.

I know that it's dangerous out in the thick woods. I will not last a day if those notorious hunters get me...

I pick myself out of the water, not minding that Claire and her friends are laughing at me as they happily stroll back to the pack house.

I am working as far as I can, because I want to be done before the sun goes down. I know that a wolfless girl won't be able to survive when the bad creatures comes out with the darkness...

I also need to cook for the pack, Luna Denise will have my head if food isn't made in time.

"Wash faster, slave! That's all you are good for!" someone yells from a distance.

"She doesn't have a family, a mate, or even a wolf. She must be cursed to be this unfortunate."

I scrub even harder till I'm done with the clothes. I run all the way back to the pack house and set to cooking immediately.

My hands are shaking with fatigue, but that doesn't stop me from cutting up the mushrooms and vegetables at a great speed. The pot of soup is boiling now, and only then do I let myself slide to the floor and take a deep breath of relief.

Luna Denise walks into the kitchen, her clicking shoes sends me into panic mode.

I quickly get on my feet and bow deeply to her. I avoid eye contact because I know that she dislike people holding her gaze. I found out the hard way, and at the ripe age of ten.

"Good evening, Luna." I greet her.

She doesn't bother to answer, but that's not what's on my mind right now. I hand her a spoon and stand a few distance from her as she takes a taste.

I am a great cook, but each time she tastes my food, I am holding my breath. I remember when I slept off and forgot that I added salt already to my soup. It was too salty and she threw the whole pot of boiling soup at me.

She clicks her tongue a few times. I feel relief washing over me, her reaction is a good sign.

"Not bad. Add some tomato paste and serve it. The boys are hungry, and don't keep my husband waiting."

"Yes, Luna."

I immediately get to work. There are hundreds of people in this pack, but I am the only one who cooks for them all.

I also wash their clothes, get slapped and beaten by them, but I have to take it all because it's better than the outside world.

The bones of people like me that I see on my trips to the stream reminds me of how grateful I should be that I was taken in.

The outside world is filled with vampires, hunters, and those good-for-nothing humans. I just have to continue to accept the maltreatment till my wolf comes one day. Or maybe I will find my mate... how am I supposed to find my mate when my wolf hasn't come?...

I work like a robot. I stack the food tray as high as a tower and then I walk out towards the bonfire, where the members are laughing and catching up about the day.

Alpha Kaleb and Luna Denise are sitting at a corner. They are making out in front of everyone, she is even saddling him, but no one even bats their eyes.

I'm not allowed to sit here, not when I don't have a wolf, not when I am just as worthy as a human carcass.

It takes a few trips, but I am finally able to get everyone their plates. I return to the kitchen to see Stella washing the plates. She is the only one who helps me, but she doesn't even speak to me, not until today.

As soon as I walk into the kitchen, she looks over her shoulder and says to me, "Rowan asked you to make him a fresh pot of soup."

"What?!" My heart sinks into my stomach.

Rowan is the son of Alpha Kaleb and Luna Denise. He is the most feared wolf around these areas and more scary because he is going to be alpha in a few months. His father is soon going to retire...

I walk over to the pot and yes, the soup is very fresh.

"I just made these, they are fresh and still steaming." I say to her, "Why does he want another fresh soup?"

"Why don't you ask him yourself and leave me alone?" She snaps. "Am I not just a messenger?"

I suck my tongue as I silently go around and make another small pot of soup. By the time I'm done, Stella is gone and everyone has probably retired to their quarters.

With no werewolf ability to aid my eyes in the dark, I feel my way around with Rowan's plate of soup in my hand.

I get to his quarters and knock on the door. I have never had a personal encounter with Rowan, I've seen him only from a distance.

He is one of the finest men I've ever seen. I have watched him eat with the tail of my eyes many times. I'm sure he doesn't know my name, he surely has never and will never notice me.

The door pulls open and my face immediately turns red as his chest gets so close to my head. That's how tall he is.

I know that I'm not supposed to look them in the eyes, but I raise my eyes to see the coldest blue eyes ever.

His jaw is so finely chiseled, his bare chest and abs are making me feel sweaty.

That's when I hear the wolf I thought I never had, that's when she wakes up after years of deep slumber and whispers to my conscious...

"Mate.... Mate...."

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.
