Chapter 1 Met the rude jerk

-----------------------------------------------------------

(Aubrey's pov)

"Rey, wake up. "

I heard a voice whispering into my ear. I knew who the voice belonged to." Isla"

My best friend.

"What do you want?" I asked grumpily.

"Are you serious?, still on bed by 7am" She yelled and her voice was loud enough to make my sleep disappear.

"What?, 7.am, f**k" I pushed her away and ran into the bathroom.

7.00 in the morning. Like what was I thinking?, sleeping so late.

~

I wore my snickers and combed my long hair not forgetting to put on my face cap. As I walked out of my small room, the aroma of mom's tossed bread filled the air. Too bad, I wasn't going to stay for breakfast.

"Mom, I'm off" I shouted.

"Stay for breakfast, hun"

"I'll come by, later in the day"

With that, I scurried off to my bike.

~

I'm Aubrey Cox. My mom's name is Rena Cox and i'm the only child. Well, f**k dad. I don't wanna talk about him. My best friend's name is Isla Gomez.

I don't have any particular job, I do many jobs depending on my time.

Here are my daily routine.

From 6 to 9 am, i work for Mrs maria at her home, preparing the kids for school and doing some house chores. From 10am to 1pm, i work at Mason 's restaurant. I just cook and wash the dishes. At 2 to 5pm, I work at Mr grumpy 's gallery shop.

At 6, i help mom at her small restaurant down the street. I'm a very busy person.

Apart from working so hard, i have a part time classes.

"Slow down, Rey" Isla warns.

"I'm late and I'm gonna loose my pay today if I don't get on .... "

I quietly shut my mouth up and continued riding.

I knew it was useless talking to her at this point.

In not less than 20 minutes, I parked my ride behind her house and jumped the stairs to Mrs Maria 's door. I knocked lightly on her door and Mrs Maria opened almost immediately.

"You came late, Aubrey" She started.

"I'm so sorry, Mrs Maria. I overslept and..."

"Cut the crap and get to work"

with that being said, she left leaving i and Isla alone.

"Bye Rey " I said and she smiled before walking up the street.

(Rowan's POV)

My eyes were glued on my laptop when my best friend came in.

"Manny, you're not going for lunch, are you?" He asked as if he doesn't know the answer to it.

I kept quiet still working on some documents.

"Your mom called me"

I rolled my eyes.

"I know, she calls everyday" I answered nonchalantly.

"When do you intend to answer her?"

"When I get a wi...fe"

I replied stressing the wifey word. At the thought of calling some lady my wife made me angry and sick. F**k women...

"You're kidding, right?"

I looked up at him and closed my laptop.

"Let's go for lunch"

I stood up and walk out.

~

"What do you mean?" He asked as we got out of the elevator together.

"Can we change the topic already?" I growled. He stared at me for awhile and nodded.

I ignited the car engine and zoomed off.

~

"Stop playing hard to get, Rowan" Mom was speaking so loud on the phone that i had to drop my phone on one of Zack 's lap.

"Mom, I can't make it home, i've a lot to do at the office" I said.

"I don't care if you have loads of work to do at the office, I want you here this evening"

She barked and ended the call.

"She can't be serious". I mumbled angrily.

"Best mom in the world".

Zack complimented her. He seemed to enjoy mom's taunting and a quest for a wife. I screeched my car abruptly in a halt to look at him.

"She won't stop til i get one. I mean women sucks, they have nothing to offer" I stated dryly.

"Women are wonderful creatures, Rowan. They might be crazy at some point but believe me, anyone who understands them, enjoys them. "

He's right in his own way. He's expecting a second child from Zoe, his wife. I can't date any other lady, not after what Anna had done 2 years ago.

We both heard a hard knock on my car window and that got our attention.

"Let's hear her" Zack said and I shrugged. I reluctantly wind down the car window and stared at the lady.

"Come out'

"What?"

~

~Aubrey's POV~

As I made out of MR. Mason 's restaurant, I went over to where i had packed my ride and saw them damaged. Like all parts were tittled all over the floor.

This is my life savings . This bike takes me round the city and helps me a lot at work. With rage, i walked to the car parked infront of it and knocked so hard on the window. I can't see the driver because the car was tinted.

Not so long, the car window was wind down revealing a young handsome man, blue eyeballs, pink lips, bla bla bla.

"Come down"

"Did I do something wrong?" He asked, biting his lower lip. Gosh!!. Is he a god or something?.

'Focus young Lady'. I told myself.

"You damaged my bike. Don't tell me you had no idea?"I asked suddenly feeling the rage again.

"So."

I stared at his cute lovely eyes. I gulped down nothing and looked away.

"Get a new one, b**ch" He cussed.

"What?"

B**ch?.

I angrily stomped my foot, opened his back seat and sat down.

"What in God's name are you doing?" He roared.

"We're purchasing a new one together. Take me to the bike store" I rested my back on the seat. The car was nice and cooler than I thought. That's why he lacked sense.

"I think it's not necessary, I mean give me your account number and I'll send the cash" The other man said. And he groaned loudly.

"Not after calling me a bitch. The earlier, the better"

I was enjoying the air conditioner and the car smelt nice. After working for hours,i think I've found what I needed.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

Marrying My Runaway Groom's Powerful Father

Marrying My Runaway Groom's Powerful Father

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."

Jilted Bride's Revenge: The Valkyrie Awakens

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

One Night With My Billionaire Boss

One Night With My Billionaire Boss

Nathaniel Stone

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.
