Mia had a younger brother named Oscar Jones. Her brother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She worked as a busgirl in the restaurant just for his younger brother’s treatment. The restaurant owner was a kind lady. Her name was Adele Smith. Adele lost her family in a car crash and so she considered them as her family and she let them live in her house for free. She had a greedy husband. She married another man after the death of her family. His name was Juan. One day she saw Juan slapping Mia. She saved both the kids and immediately demanded a divorce. But Juan was like deaf eared. Mia had a teeny weeny crush on a guy. He was the most popular student of the college and every girl had a crush on him. Hell did she know a normal crush would change her life and break her completely. Juan came again into their lives after 4 years. He was still the same, he came here to ask for money because he had to pay debts he took. But Adele refused him. Juan was enraged and shot Adele in the head and soon her corpse was lying on the floor. Mia wasted no time in reacting and called 911. The police were soon here and carried her body away. Her only family left was now Amanda and Lora and they took good care of both of them. Adele’s lawyer showed Mia her will papers which clearly said that Mia now owned the restaurant and her home. Now that they had a good source of income so Mia took responsibility for Lora’s education as well. One day Adele’s manager who now worked with her called her and said that a well-known businessman's son wanted to buy her restaurant. She was reluctant but still agreed upon meeting them. His secretary told Mia his name which was Ethan Davies, she didn't expect it to be him after all that happened 4 years ago. Mix of past and what would happen in future. Chapter 1 Max's Birthday Party
~Mia’s POV~
It was a windy night and I was sitting on the couch feeding Oscar, my little brother who was nearly 6 years old. Life was getting tougher and tougher day by day.
It was getting difficult for me to pay for Oscar’s treatment bills. It was about two and a half years ago when I came across the news that Oscar was diagnosed with lung cancer and needed treatment right away.
My studies and Oscar’s treatment was the only reason I was working as a busgirl in a restaurant at the age of 14. “Sis, what are u thinking” suddenly I heard Oscar’s childish voice. “Nothing baby, finish up your dinner, you have to take your medicines”.
I said while feeding him. “I know, I know, you don’t have to tell me that every single time. I am not a kid anymore; I am going to be 6 next month”.
I sighed while chuckling at what he said just now, “I know you are going to be 6 next month so you should act more mature and from now on you would sleep on time”.
He looked at me with nervous eyes “Why sis, I always sleep at 11:30 after watching my favorite cartoon” he said with a shaky voice and looked at me with innocent tear-filled eyes. “Why are you crying honey, aren’t you happy that you’ll be going to kindergarten tomorrow, hmm?” I know it’s difficult for a kid to adjust to a new atmosphere but still, he needs to go to kindergarten. I know he’ll enjoy it when he finally goes there and make friends over there.
“Okay sweetheart now go to sleep, you have to wake up early tomorrow,” I said while giving him an encouraging smile. He nodded and went straight to his room. I followed him and prepared him for bed.
After doing so I went back to my room and sat on the edge of my bed. I was thinking that I would be nothing if I didn’t have Oscar by my side. I would be so broken and alone without him. I didn’t realize that when I fell asleep.
I was woken up by the alarm. When I opened my eyes the sun was shining right on my face and so I had to cover my face with my hands. I went to the bathroom and took a shower.
When I came out of my room Oscar was already sitting on the sofa with wet hair, “Did you wash yourself sweetie? you should have told me.” I said while heading towards the kitchen.
It was still early in the morning so I went to make some breakfast. “Well you were sleeping like a sleepy head so I thought better not to wake you up so early” I let out a small chuckle after hearing that. Well, it was awkward. “Well that’s because I couldn’t sleep well last night”
I told him the truth. Indeed, I wasn’t able to sleep well last night. “Well it's okay you know, it’s not a big deal. I am grown up now so I can wash up myself from now onwards.”
I was so happy seeing him like that and so I smiled unintentionally while looking at him. “Stop smiling sis and make me breakfast, I’m hungry”. I was dumbfounded and so I quickly came out of the kitchen with the breakfast and placed it over the table. “It’s ready, look.” He came running towards the table and sat beside me.
“Oscar, can you finish up your breakfast yourself? I have to go and get ready?” it was already 6:30 so I wanted to get ready as soon as possible. I can’t afford to be late for school. “Yeah, I told you I am grown up so I can have my breakfast all by myself”.
I rushed to my room and knocked on a chair on the way. I was in a hurry. I could be late if I don’t hurry up. I changed into a simple white knee-length skirt and a pink tank top. My hair were open with a dutch braid on both sides.
“Sis it’s 7:00 am, hurry up we’re going to be late for school” I heard Oscar shouting, “Coming honey!” I replied as I came out of my room. I grabbed my bag pack and took Oscar’s hand and led him to the front door.
I grabbed a taxi and first dropped Oscar at Baranoff Elementary school. It was near our home so I chose this kindergarten school for Oscar.
He waved at me and then the principal led him into the school. I sighed and headed towards my school. I studied at Akins High school. It was a very good school although we didn’t have this much money to pay the fees the school had compensation offers for kids like me.
Students who were orphanand poor and good at studies used to get compensation in fees, not everyone. And so I was lucky. I am the topper of my class and everyone admires me.
After getting off the school, I went to pick Oscar from kindergarten. When I reached there he was already at the door waiting for me with his friends. I marched towards them, “Max this is my sister Mia, Mia Max my best friend.”
I was so happy that he was getting used to it and even made friends. “Hi Max, it's nice meeting you,” I said with a huge satisfied smile on my face. “Hi Mia nice to meet you too” he greeted me while shaking hands with me.
I saw a woman in her late twenties approaching me and realized that she was Max’s mother, “hey there dear, you must be Oscar’s sister aren’t you” she with a smile on her face. “Yeah, I am Oscar’s sister it’s a pleasure meeting you,” I said while shaking hands with her. “It’s a pleasure meeting you too,” she said while smiling.
She was indeed a very beautiful woman. She had brunette hair and a slim figure. She looked young yet very beautiful. “Mia next week is Max’s birthday; it would be a pleasure if you both come to the birthday party.”
“I am sure Oscar will love to come to his best friend’s birthday party, we sure will come. Thank you, madam.” I said while smiling at Max and Oscar. “I’d love to see both of you. Okay, Max honey let’s go say goodbye to them” she said while smiling at me one last time.
They went out and sat in a black Rolls-Royce Cullinan. I was shocked and dumbfounded. No doubt they looked like a good family. “Sis what are you looking at, they are gone, let’s go,” he said while pinching me.
I was so ready to go to the party. After all, I was a teenager and liked to go to luxurious parties like that.
~Author’s POV~
Mia was excited to go to the party after all she was an immature teenager. What she didn’t know was that something big was waiting for her.
Her life was going to be changed in a nick of time. She didn’t know she would have to pay such a big amount for just meeting a stranger she didn’t know.
Like every other story, a female picks up a fight with a guy she doesn’t know at all and the guy destroys her by messing with her life and playing with her feelings.
It turns out that this going to be different. Sure Mia is going to mess up with the wrong guy but her little action makes the guy fall for her.
Will Mia be able to hide from her destined fate that is waiting for her?
