Chapter 1 Prologue

They said blood is thicker than water, but what if the water is deadly, vile, manipulative and consuming?

(City of Tusca)

The disco lights made her dizzy, or maybe, it was due to the amount of alcohol running in her blood stream. She staggered across the dance floor, unaware of the two sets of eyes that locked in on her wake.

Why did she even agree to attend such a ridiculous party? Avery Mendez is a straight A student. She comes from a prestigious family of neuro surgeons. She herself aims to be one, and had worked herself to the core in order to achieve her dream. Unfortunately, her constant studying murdered her social life.

So, she decided to agree for a night out, upon her room mate's request.

(Tusca General Hospital)

The speaker announced his name once more, Dr. Falco Mendez grunted and waltz towards the operating room. His shift has ended hours ago, but due to their hospital's lack of competent staff, he decided to extend his working hours-probono, to assist in any emergency concerning his field.

"Doctor, Thank God you're here!" screamed one of the nurses. Mendez acknowledged her greeting with a nod.

"What's the situation?" the doctor asked.

One of the nurses walked up to him and said "Rape victim, severe head trauma, and multiple lacerations to the muscles of her lower lumbar region. Her coccyx also has a stab wound."

"Alright, prep me up." Dr. Mendez murmured.

After a few minutes, the doctor, equipped with all the knowledge that gained him a huge and respected reputation throughout the city, entered the emergency room.

"Her head keeps bleeding doctor!" yelled a young man, wearing a doctor's robe-same as himself.

Dr Mendez can only shake his head. The young man lacks experience, and that is evident by the shaking of his hand along with the high pitched tone that glazed his words

"Calm yourself, before you drop that scalpel inside your patient's wound." Mendez murmured.

The veteran doctor walked up to the young one and motioned to take his place, but before he could, his heart hammered, his eyes almost fell out of their sockets, as his sight fell on the body of his daughter.

"Avery!" the doctor screamed, his heart shattering at the disheveled image of his precious girl

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ “I want to get a divorce, Mark,” I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time—even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
