PROLOGUE

"SIR, I'm sorry for the inconvenience! But Ma'am Maze is here and she's trying to get inside your office." my secretary said while her voice, still rasping.

I suddenly looked up and frowned when I saw the woman standing in front of me right now.

"All right, kindly leave us now." I shooed away my secretary who immediately complied.

Again I turned to Maze and I was shocked to see her tears. It is streaming down her face as she slowly laid the three pregnancy test kits on my desk. I even stumbled when I peeked at the two red lines in the result window of PT.

I don't know what exactly I should be reacting that time.

I want to rejoice because I am going to become a daddy now but the fear and apprehension is currently etching in my chest, the one that continues to dominate.

I was scared that Maze could not give me another chance and she won’t forgive me anymore. I’m also scared that time will come and she won’t be able to tell to our child that I am his/her father.

Though I have a lot of doubts I still approached her. I hugged her tightly so that she could feel that somehow I also felt a little pleasure in what she said. I thought she would respond to my hug but that i was felt embarrassed. Because I felt that she is slowly breaking away from my embrace and then after a while, she speaks sadly.

"I'm not asking you to marry me Nicolo. All i wanted right now, is for you to support and take care of our child. I'm happy and at peace with that." I felt like i was blown away by the wind after hearing those words.

"Hell no!" I shouted at her.

During that time, I felt like there is a sharp knife nailed in my chest. And it seems like fate once bestowed upon me will be repeated again.

"You don't have any idea regarding on my decisions! You know, even if you don't say, or even beg, I'm always ready to marry you, Maze. I am willing to marry you even in all the churches in the world! I'm also ready to be a father even if we had dozen of childrens!" I said loudly.

"But, how about Maverick?" She asked reluctantly.

I was stunned by the last question she posed. My stubbornness was suddenly replaced by confusion.
