Chapter 1 Bullied

"Wake up..you dummy!" My Mom shouted smacking my legs.

"Ahh..is it morning already? I want to get more sleep" I yawned reaching out to my phone.

"Whatever, help me out let's pack this bags before the driver comes" My Mum sighed.

"Are we moving out already? I mean again?" I asked my Mum.

"Aren't you tired of getting bullied by your peers"? My Mum asked packing my clothes into a bag.

I can still remember, the day I entered the class for the first time. I made my school uniform look very outstanding.

"We have a new student" The teacher announced to the class.

"Come In" She bellowed to me.

I entered the class. Everyone was silent.

"Introduce yourself" The teacher said to me.

"Hi everyone, My name is Mia" I said to the class.

The look on their face was very awkward.

"Mia? what kind of name is that?" The kids asked laughing loudly. I felt uncomfortable. I rumpled my skirts with my hands.

One of the students, was not laughing. She was looking through the window. I sat beside her.

"Hi am Mia" I introduced myself.

"Hi my name is Alison" She said giving me a handshake. She smiled at me earnestly.

During break time, I went to the cafeteria. I was the only dark skinned girl in the school. I went to the table to eat but they kept chasing me out of the chairs.

"Mia!" Alison called me.

I sat on the same seat with her. We talked a little. Alison is actually an introvert. She's popular on social media but in school, she doesn't associate with people alot.

Alison and I became great friends but it didn't last long.

"Dark skin Mia, Dark Skin Mia!"

The kids started calling me.

I've been living in hell since we moved into the town. I thought since my Mum is white, the racism will reduced but it didn't. The kids made fun of my skin colour.

"Go back to where you came from, you Nigga!" That one hurts.

I always sat in the sports room crying.

"I didn't make my skin dark, why are they treating me this way" I always cried out.

I had to stand against the way they treated me, I can't let people turn me into a puppet. They love sending me on errands alot, even when I refused, they made me to be submissive to them.

"If you go to the canteen, we'll make sure no one bullies you" A girl said to me.

"You even know that you're a bully!" I shouted at the girl as I stood up and hitting my book on the desk.

"Wow...you've grown alot" She said patting my head. I knew the girl was trying to cause a fight.

I ran away from the class immediately.

Soon, Alison became the school Model. She doesn't talk to me again, she associated with the popular girls in the school, I felt broken.

"Are you thirsty?" She asked me after our sports activities in the morning.

"Do you want to give the water to me?" I asked her.

She gave the water to me. I gulped down the water very fast.

"Thank you" I said to her giving her back her water bottle. She kept standing beside me. I stood up to leave. She grabbed my hands.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Alison asked.

"Okay then" I replied to her.

"So...what do you Want to say to me" I asked Her.

"How have you been doing"? She asked me.

"Looks like Karma is striking back at you" I sneered.

"I know we ain't friends again but I feel very sorry" She begged.

"You think I'll trust you"? I asked her. "I've forgotten about the incident..okay. I hope you live a happy life. Besides, you have about hundred and twenty seven thousand (127k) followers on Instagram. You make sure that everyone loves everything you do. But, you betrayed you own friend, just in the name of popularity." I yelled at her.

"Have you forgiven me?"Alison asked me.

"You think I forgive easily? I know you're just pretending. Why will I" I sighed running down the stairs.

"We have new students in our class today" The Teacher announced.

"Please come in" She said to the new students. Four students entered the class, Two boys and Two girls.

"Woahh...!" I shouted in disbelief.

It was the happiest day of my life. One of the girls, and boys are dark skinned.

"Introduce yourselves please" The Teacher said to them.

"Hi, Nice to meet you. My name is Alisha. I hope we could be friends" The dark girl introduced.

She sat behind me. She waved at me smiling.

"My name is Ruby. Nice to meet you" The white girl said. She smiled at me. That was the moment we became friends.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Jamie" The dark guy smiled. He's so cute.. I love his curly hairs" The girls in the class said. "Is it because he's a boy or what? I have curly hairs too" I said smirking.

"Hi my name is Leo. Nice to meet you" The white guy introduced himself. I felt my heart hurt. My heart beat increased. "What's wrong with me? This is not normal" I said to myself. He looked very cheerful. He has a brown eyes that shone brightly. He loves touching he's hair alot. The girls in the class couldn't stop talking about him. "He's so hot"! They continued saying.

"So sad, only one seat left, you'll have to seat beside Mia" The teacher said to Leo.

"Okay" he replied to her.

"Why beside me"? I asked in my mind. I felt uncomfortable. This is my first time of falling in love. "No...this is infatuation" I said to myself. "How can I love someone I just saw this moment" ? I asked myself. Leo sat beside me.

"Hey!" he said to me. I felt nervous.

"hi" I replied to him.

After Lessons, the teacher left the class.

"Can I get your contact?" Leo asked me as he gave me his phone.

"You mean my number"? I pointed at myself.

"...or are you asking the girl beside me"? I asked him pointing at Alison.

"You're Mia right?" Leo asked me.

"Yes!" I replied. I collected his phone from him and typed my number in it.

"Thank you. Mia" he said to me smiling.

"Now..." Jamie said putting his hands on Leo's shoulder and mine.

"... Let's go to the cafeteria together!" Jamie exclaimed happily.

I, Jamie, Ruby, Leo and Alisha became very close friends. It's my first time of having friends since I moved into the town. We talked alot about ourselves.

"Do you want to play basketball with me?" Leo asked me.

" Yes!"I replied to him.

"Let's go then" he said to me.

"I don't know how to play it" I groaned. he held my hands. I cringed. He helped me.

"I won!"I shouted immediately I scored for the first time.

"I allowed you to do so" Leo said to me.

"Whatever" I blurted smiling.

"You look very pretty when you smile" blurted.

"Do you love me that much?" I asked him laughing. I knew he was joking. He loves saying alot of cringy things.

Alison hated me more now. her behavior changed entirely, immediately she realized that Leo and I are close friends. Alison entered the sports room. I looked at her but couldn't say anything to her. She came straight to my face and slapped me.

"Have you gone nuts?"!Leo asked her.

"Yes. I am! I've gone nuts for you!" Alison shouted.

"Mia keeps getting in my way. Am more pretty than her. Leo please notice me!" Alison begged Leo.

"Are you a psycho"?! Leo asked her.

"Yes. I am!" Alison shouted.

I made an attempt to stand up, Alison tried to push me but ended up pushing Leo. Leo fell to the ground and fainted. That was a very unfortunate day for me.

Since then, Leo hasn't come back to the school. I cried alot because he lost his phone. I went to his house several times to see him. Just to find out that he has relocated to another town. I almost committed suicide. I kept blaming myself for what happened that day. But I'll have to move on with my life without him..ಥ_ಥ

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.
