Chapter 1 The life

Maria had, what she personally considered to be, a rather perfect life. She had found her fairytale romance eleven years ago when she was only eighteen. She had what so many people could only dream of having: the perfect love story. Right out of high school, she had married her high school sweetheart. Thomas was the perfect man too. He was a kind, caring, and gentle soul. It was as if he had made it his life's ambition to always shower her with affection and love. She couldn't possibly ask for more. She had it all.

A wonderful and loving husband who worked all day while making sure she could relax at home, a marvelous house that had everything she dreamed of having when she was a child, he even understood her wishes not to have children and had gotten a vasectomy when he was only 22. She knew then that Thomas was serious about spending his entire life with her and only her.

So it made it so much more difficult for her when she started to realize that she was feeling unhappy.

Why?

Am I just being ungrateful?

Or just full of shit?

She would constantly ask herself that over and over again, and each time she would hope the conclusion she came to was wrong.

"Hey, love, I'm home," she heard Thomas call out as he entered the house, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Oh, hey, babe, how was work?" she asked him. She shook all the doubt out of her mind and buried it as best she could.

"Oh, you know, same old, same old. We may have possibly landed a brand new client," Thomas answered as he dropped his bag down on the table and fell onto the couch.

Thomas was a software developer for a global tech empire. He absolutely loved his job and was able to have utilized his incredible intelligence to have his dream turned into a reality. However, his job was also very demanding and often left him drained mentally. Sometimes he would have to work fifteen or more hours per day, and that had begun to tear a rift in the relationship between him and Maria.

More and more, Thomas found himself coming home later. More and more, he found himself unable to hold the long, all-night conversations that he and Maria used to have when they were younger. Worst of all, he had found himself way too drained and exhausted for sex.

Maria would always try her best, but sometimes Thomas couldn't even get it up. Thomas knew the impact that his low sex drive must have been having on Maria, as he had often heard the vibrations in the middle of the night and he had caught her in the act quite a few times. He truly missed those days when they were indulging in toys together. Those where, if he found her pleasuring herself, his head would have been between her thighs in a manner of seconds. However, at that point, he found himself feeling relieved rather, because he knew that he wouldn't have to participate.

"Oh, really? May I ask who it is?" Maria sat herself down next to her husband and handed him a warm plate. She had made his favorite for dinner, hoping to at least spark some joy in him.

"Oh, thank you, love." He smiled and pecked her cheek softly. Maria felt so deprived at that point that the little bit of physical intimacy she received from his kiss had her knees feeling weak.

"Unfortunately, we had to sign a non-disclosure as it is a rather prominent and influential business. It involves some patents for some extremely futuristic ideas involving AI," Thomas said in between bites. Maria watched and listened carefully. She felt herself becoming envious of the lines of code he would get so excited about.

Why can't he get that excited about me? Maybe if I painted a bunch of 1s and 0s on my body, maybe he'd fuck me then.

"I'm going to pretend to understand what you're saying." Maria giggled softly and traced her soft fingertips along the skin of his arm in hopes of eliciting some kind of reaction. Unfortunately, it was as if he had gone numb. He either didn't notice her efforts or he simply didn't care. At least, that's how she felt.

"Oh, it's actually pretty interesting. See, Artificial Intelligence has come a really long way in recent years. And, without spilling the beans too much, what this company wants is a self-learning AI that can analyze any user's talking patterns and will be able to figure out if something is off if they start texting or typing differently. You see, what they want is-" Thomas started to drone on, but all his words became white noise in the background as Maria faded into the depths of her mind.

Why was the sex such an issue for her? So many people had gone much longer than a few months without it, yet the fact that her husband wasn't willing to sleep with her anymore caused her such feelings of grief. She felt so unwated, she felt so ugly.

Why, Thomas? Why?

She remembered when they first started sleeping together. She was eighteen, he was nineteen. At first, they were both incredibly nervous and it ended up being more awkward than pleasurable, yet she still loved it. And once they became more experienced with each other's bodies, the sex became the greatest thing that she had ever discovered. Thomas was always a really shy person, very withdrawn from everything else that was happening around him. So when she discovered that he had a sex drive that matched her's, she was ecstatic. She remembered how some nights they didn't even sleep or talk, just fucked each other senseless. For years, everything was perfect.

She remembered how Thomas usually came home from work, and the very moment the door closed, she was on her knees right in front of him. It was a daily ritual for them. There wouldn't even be any exchange of formalities or greetings, no "Hey, honey, I'm home," nothing. He would walk in, and before he could even set his bag down, she would have him in her mouth. Yet, when she tried it again a few weeks prior, all that she got was, "I'm sorry, love, I've just really had an incredibly long day."

When he first told her about his promotion, she was through the roof with joy for him. Thomas had been working harder than anyone else at the firm and deserved it. However, if she knew then what she had come to realize at the point of her life she was at now, she would've begged for him to decline the offer. Silently, in the back of her mind, she selfishly cursed Thomas' dreams for outweighing her in terms of importance. She hated that she felt that way, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to be his priority again for once.

"Thanks for the delicious dinner, hon. Amazing as ever." Thomas smiled and gave her a soft peck on the lips, bringing her back to reality.

"Oh. Right. It's a pleasure, babe. I'm really glad you enjoyed it." She smiled, feeling herself tingle from his kiss.

Thomas stood up to go wash his plate out. After some soul searching, Maria stood up and followed him.

I still know how to seduce. Thomas Carling, I'm having you tonight.

Maria approached her husband from behind and wrapped her arms around him, her hand immediately going to his groin. She started to fondle his manhood through the fabric of his jeans.

"Oh, don't be so quick, Tommy. You haven't had you desert yet, baby," she said, unzipping his jeans. She thought Thomas seemed better that day than others, and what kind of man would say no to a blowjob? Unfortunately for her, her guesses were wrong.

She felt her hand being moved away from his pants with a sigh escaping his lips.

"Not tonight, honey. I'm honestly too tired," he told her softly.

"Oh. All right then. Well, I'm done embarressing myself for the night. I'm gonna go to bed. Goodnight," she coldly stated before making her way to their bedroom.

"Oh, come on, Maria, don't be like that," Thomas shouted out at her.

"Save it," she replied, a cold tinge to her voice. She didn't want to seem harsh or not understanding, but she had needs too and those needs weren't beIng met. She felt fuming with an anger at herself, mostly because of the anger she felt towards her unwilling husband.

Thomas just softly sighed and watched his wife walk up the stairs.
