Chapter 1 MARRYNG OF CONVENIENCE

CHAPTER 01

Mia was in the company's pantry, facing the heavy start of another Monday at work. Leaning on the column next to the coffee machine, she watched the people taking their places in the office, while she drank her coffee and, distracted, looked at the cell phone that vibrated insistently, ignoring the calls from Ava, her younger sister.

Although she was aware of the importance of being attentive to the entry of CEO Oliver, responsible for almost all of the family companies, her rich, influential and attractive boss, Mia never harbored feelings for him. In fact, she didn't even have the opportunity to get close, being just one secretary among many in the vast network of companies. However, Mia enjoyed watching his daily arrival, punctual as clockwork. While the men hid and the women offered themselves, the serious Oliver passed without greeting anyone, surrounded by his security guards, and entered his office, a place restricted to a few people, only the most important and powerful in the city.

Amidst the sighs and whispers of co-workers hoping to get Oliver's attention, Mia kept to the sidelines, focused on her professional responsibilities. However, that day, something unexpected happened. As Mia fixed her gaze on the path taken by Oliver, he did something unusual: their gazes met for a brief moment. A shiver ran through Mia's body, who felt disconcerted and blushed slightly.

"It must be in my head" Mia thought, ignoring the shudder she felt with the exchange of glances as she returned to the work environment listening to the women's comments about Oliver.

Again Mia was forced to hold the cell phone, ignoring her sister's call and noting that she had left some messages. Following the work day, starting with filing some documents, having to stop after being called to the floor boss's office, waiting to receive a new task.

“Good morning dear” said Mia's boss smiling, “I have news, from today you will change sectors”.

“What happened?” he asked in a soft voice believing that he had made mistakes.

“Oliver's secretary was fired, his work had to be restricted and he needed a discreet person with few friends in the company and he has to be smart and efficient, you fit that profile perfectly, we don't have another person with the structure and patience you have”.

“It feels like a sacrifice and not a job.”

“Oliver is a rich person like the others, demanding and eccentric, but I believe in his potential, it will work”.

“Start when?”

"Now".

Mia took a large cardboard box leaving her colleagues curious, put her things and without delay went up to the roof of the building to meet her new place of work. The penthouse was different, it didn't have offices, not a lot of people, it was just the huge desk of the secretariat, inside a beautiful waiting room and behind it the door of Oliver's office closed.

Mia took a deep breath, noticing that the old secretary hadn't taken her personal effects and that the table had piles of papers, sticking the box she carried in the swivel chair while removing the old secretary's things from the table.

"There was a mistake" said Oliver to his assistant while measuring Mia with a firm look making her stop "I didn't ask to change Maria from cleaning but the secretary".

"I'll see what happened sir."

“I'm sorry” Mia said entering the conversation of the two embarrassed and with a trembling voice “I'm a secretary”.

The two measured her and looked at each other, Oliver entered the room Lucas said:

“If you are a secretary, sit in that chair and work like one, leave the cleaning to Maria, there is a lot of work to be done, be focused” he took a cell phone out of his pocket and gave it to her “This is your number with us, just answer our calls and if you have an emergency call me and never Oliver.”

Mia thought about asking what the urgency was at that moment, but Lucas went into Oliver's office and left her alone, quickly took the box from his chair, sitting down and picking up the stack of papers, reading and organizing by date, then creating spreadsheets On the computer and starting to get in touch with the emails that were noted in the spreadsheets, Mia also remade a new agenda, because the former secretary had angrily deleted the last one.

The cell phone that Mia had won started ringing, being answered without delay, it was Lucas informing them what they would have for lunch and which restaurant they wanted the food from, informing that she could order from the same place on the company account and passing a meal for three, to not going out to lunch with the other employees, from that day on, the time she spent at the company would have to be isolated.

Mia organized the agenda by emailing it to Lucas with a copy to Oliver, surprising her speed and organization.

When lunch arrived Mia sent a message to Lucas warning him and he was allowed to enter the place, discreetly observing the boss's beautiful room, the walls were made of glass and the view to the city, there were all the chairs were in burgundy leather, the table was rustic it had an old-fashioned look like the rest of the furniture, the smell was wonderful, but the old-fashioned appearance gave the place a sober air.

“Set it up there” Lucas pointed to a cup inside the room.

“ Fit?” wondered _

"Come on" whispered Maria softly "Set the table before it gets cold".

“What do I do with the third order?” asked Mia, relieved to find the cleaning lady.

“ Give me ”.

The two left the room, while Oliver watched Mia's curves as she left, paying attention to how she had an attractive walk and a beautiful body, feeling a slight attraction and excitement with the movement of her ass in the clingy gray skirt she wore. Thinking that he was physically vulnerable because of the time he had not slept with a woman, with the intention of passing on a serious image to the media and his father of his respect.
