Chapter one Liam The night was quiet, it was a night like this that made me appreciate humanity and its contents. My day was an absolute shit show and I just needed something calm to ease my mind. Maybe drinking was not the best thing to do right now but the bottle of brandy was impossible to ignore. Brandy did it for me as coffee did it for people, it helped me stay sane and I needed to stay sane right now. I drank the liquor directly from the bottle, I was not planning on getting drunk or wasted but I wanted to get out of my head and think like I am supposed to.

“You know drinking and moping around would not help him get better right?” Daniel said, walking in on me and taking a seat just beside me. “Don't come to me with all those bullshit and inspiring words that you liked to throw around, I don't need it and like I always say, you should drop that inspirational act, it doesn't suit you,” I let out, then I took another gulp of my liquor. “Well, it is satisfying to see that you still have the ability to speak rudely like you always do brother, and I wasn't going to tell you to feel better or make you feel better, I was going to tell you to get your head straight, think like a soldier and get your *ss up,” Daniel spoke out and lit up his cigarettes. Daniel is my best friend, he has been with me ever since I could remember, we grew up together and ever since then we just became inseparable. He was loyal and he would do anything for me, I would do anything for him too and I was sure he knew that. His mother was our cook, ever since I was a baby and my grandad said his mother gave birth to him four months after I was born but unfortunately, Daniel’s mom passed away of cancer, and my Grandad adopted him. He has been with us ever since then and I was always thankful that Alex took Vic in. “You forget I am your boss brother and that would get you in trouble one of these days,” I tell him, letting a little smirk appear on my face. “You are my boss Liam but you need to be put right sometimes, like now,” Daniel let out, smiling a little and then he passed his cigarette to me. Daniel was my right hand man in the business Alex left me to deal with, he was the only one, apart from Alex that saw me past my inability to make use of my wolf side. The Rome family was held together by Alex so seeing him sick and down took a toll on me. Alex was my grandad and the leader of the top most pack family in the city. All the New York pack families were answerable to my grandad. He was literally my role model and the most badass fighter I have ever known and he always knew what to do and how to go about it all the time. Alex was just unlucky with his family and his children, his first son who was my dad was a man whore and he did not end well because he got himself killed by his stupid ways but Alex would always say that he was his best child, unlike her second child who became a drug addict and ended up in a rehabilitation center, as far as I knew, he could die anytime from now, he was gone, his body was in rehab but his soul was long gone. He also had a son, Jalen who was my cousin but he didn't really stick around much. His mom took him out of the pack and raised him so the only person I had that was my family was Alex and it would break me if I lost him now. Jalen and I were not on good terms and that was because he says that Alex should have never put me in charge if I couldn't even form into a full wolf. He believes Alex was being unfair to him and if I am being honest, I have no idea why Alex picked me but he did. He never mentioned my inabilities and I am still the Alpha. Well, I and Jalen are both an Alpha in the pack but I know at the end of the day, they can only be one Alpha and I don't see myself capable. Alex was tough though, he would fight it off I thought, trying to make myself get at ease and focus on business because it would be very dangerous for me if I mislay my head and let my mind get blurry, there would be no comeback from that. “So are we going to sit around like some sad filled humans or we would get things done?” I let out, finally getting my shit together and getting up to get things done. “Now that's the spirit, I started feeling a little off just sitting here you know,” Daniel said, standing up too and taking his position just behind me as we walked out of the balcony area. “Are you going to see Alex before we leave? We might head to the hotel after the club,” Daniel added. “We would see him after we are done with the sorting,” I let out, disregarding his suggestion. I wanted to see Alex badly because he was my muse and seeing him smile at me could just guarantee me that we would have a good business deal but I would not be able to take it if I saw him lying unconscious once more. The car was ready for us once we got out, and the doors were opened by the guards so we got in and left the villa in no time. The business deal we were attending was with the Tynan pack, they called for the meeting. They wanted in on our product but I was doubting bringing them on because the Tynan pack always seemed to be corny and I could not deal with any distributor that I was not sure about. We arrived at the club and we alighted from the car and walked into the club, getting set for the shitshow to begin. “Have you decided what to tell the Tynan pack? I feel We should be clear about that before sitting for the meeting,” Daniel let out, walking closer to me so I could hear him better. The club was not crowded like it always was and we were on the weekend, that was strange I thought. I already feel some kind of way and I haven't even sat down yet. “I feel we should hear them talk their shit first then we can decide after. We don't need those clowns but you insisted I show up to this meeting and I am here but I need to be convinced deeply before making a decision of adding them to the distribution but I need to tell you, I am surprised they reached out to us and I want to hear what does fuckers have to say,” I spoke out, finally letting Daniel know what I thought about this whole situation from my perspective but something in me could help but doubt the Tynan pack. I did not want to conclude before I hear them out but it all looked fishy. I knew Daniel was only trying to make our business wider by suggesting we bring them in but I still couldn't place my head around the fact that they asked for a meeting when rumors were spreading around that Lola was dying and that our family was getting unstable. For all I knew, they may be trying to get closer now because they see that we are going through some crisis and then try to take us out of the game when they see fit. Taking us out of the game was almost impossible but the Tynan pack might have a way to arrange their pack members and that could be threatening to us a little. Everything I thought about just caused me to make up my mind and be extremely cautious and attentive today. My decision could make us more powerful and rich or it could make us dead. The odds were in our favor though so there was no need to get beat up about all of it. “So the place is less crowded today, should we sit at the far end of the club or go to our VIP section?” maybe staying down here would be better though, I mean we could be in the moment and still be in the meeting,” Daniel let out, trying to get me to sit at the stripper's end. “I know what you are trying to do and no, I am not going to be the reason you get to cheat on your wife here, I won't watch you do that. I have to look out for the females and I am looking out for Gloria,” I spoke out, closing off his desire to watch women shake their asses while his wife stayed at home, pregnant and tired. “You are such a killer of fun,” he let out, walking with me as we headed up the stairs so we could get to the VIP section. “And watching them show off their beauty isn't cheating, it's more like just appreciating their beauty and enjoying the time,” Daniel added. “You can tell yourself that but we are not sitting there,” I said, somehow happy that Daniel was not able to convince me like he always does. We were both twenty five and if I was being completely real, twenty five was a little bit young to be married and have a kid on the way but what can I say, Daniel was a loving man and obviously a husband too. He met Glo at this very club and a week later they got engaged. They were both so eager to be married that they got married exactly four hours after they got engaged. Alex supported his decision and I could not help but find the whole situation funny. I was twenty five and I could not get myself into a stable relationship because I was emotionally inaccessible, talk more about getting married. I did not see myself getting married at all but I doubt Alex would let me live if he found out I was not interested in getting married. He would probably leave us on this earth completely by passing out if he found out. “Why are this fuckers smiling and grinning from ear to ear?” I let out to Daniel immediately after I caught sight of the Tynan pack and I was immediately over it all but I already told Daniel that I would hear them out so I had to give them a listening ear. “They must be very happy to cut this deal I guess,” Daniel gave an answer to me and I did not look at him but I could sense the confusion in the way he sounded. We had top guards in our front and two at our back also so I could barely notice my surroundings because they were obstructing my view but I did not even care to look around. It was when we got closer that I was able to see the Tynan pack clearly and they were not four as they should be, they were only two here and that was very strange because for as long as have known them, they were like the powerful four or some shit like that because they were always together and sometimes they even wore matching color outfits but right now, they were just two. I turned to Daniel instantly after I noticed this meeting might not be what we had planned and he spoke up immediately. “They didn't mention anything about coming in half or not coming as a whole even,” Daniel said, clarifying the information he got when the meeting was being set. Something must be off with the fuckers and whatever it is, I already had enough on my own plate, and I was definitely not ready to add whatever their problems were to mine but I was already here, in their presence so that means I would need to listen to whatever bullshit they had to say. “Fuck man,” I let out and we proceeded to the table.
