You would agree with me that the wedding day of every bride ought to be the most amazing and joyous day of their lives with butterflies in their belly and tears of joy flowing down their cheeks. But mine was different, instead of the normal butterflies, I felt lavas in my belly, tears of anguish, pain, despair, which ruined my perfect makeover. The curtains opened and everyone stood up as they watch me walk down the aisle with tears in my eyes, they needed no soothsayer to tell them that these were not tears of joy, as I looked up at the man I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with, smiling and grinning from ear to ear. If only he knew what was going on in my head at that moment, it would remove those smiles from his face with the speed of light. I moved closer to him, immediately his expression changed into a confused one, the smiles disappeared in an instant when he saw my face which now has black teary lines on them. He wondered what would have caused the expression I was wearing. Well, I'll save you the stress of pondering on that. Just this morning I was getting set for my big day when a message popped in on my phone. [ding]

Chapter 1 001

[ding]

It was a message from an unknown number. I opened it to see its content, and to my surprise it was a series of pictures of my fiancé with my best friend in bed naked.

With wide eyes, I stared intensely at my phone hoping this was untrue, I mean, this is supposed to be my betrothed, the man whom I adored and counted myself lucky to have in my life.

I still couldn't accept what I was seeing, I pinched myself several times hoping it was a dream but it wasn't. Just when I was still trying to digest what I just saw another message popped into my phone yet again.

[Ding]

This time it was from my best friend Sasha, it reads thus:

Sorry for not telling you this earlier, but I can't stand you getting married to the man I love. You of all people should know that love was not fair to me all this while, but with Peter, I've never felt this lucky.

I'm sorry it had to end this way, and mind you those pictures were taken yesterday, you can check the date to confirm.

I staggered and fell on the floor with my wedding gown still on, as my legs couldn't take me through this shocking moment. No wonder she gave excuses of not feeling well, so she won't be able to come to the wedding. She was supposed to be my maid of honor, but after her filthy excuse I had to find someone else.

My maid of honor asked me what was wrong, being short of words as I couldn't fathom any word out to say I showed her my phone as the expression on her face showed she understood it all.

How could she do something like this? Someone you called your best friend?

I guess that saying is true, then, ' the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know' I manage to speak with tears freely flowing down my cheeks.

So what would you do now? Are you going to cancel the wedding?

Cancel what wedding? This was meant to be my big day and I won't ruin it because of these two pests.

All my life I have always acted with my thinking and reasoning but now I'm going to act without even thinking at all.

What do you mean by that?

I don't know because I'm basically not thinking right now. Get ready, we are going to the church.

What about your makeup? It's ruined.

There's no time to fix it, let's go. I said as I urged her for us to come to the church, and here I am now looking at the bastard right in front of me.

He gave me the ' what's the matter look' but I just ignored it.

It's time to take your vows, the priest said. As everyone sat down still with a confused expression, wondering if everything was fine.

Do you, Peter Williams, solemnly swear to take Mia Miller as your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish her, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health till death do you part?

Yes, I do. He said in a round of applause followed from the congregation with screams and happy cheers. If only they knew what those applause did to me inside.

To the bride. Do you, Mia Miller, solemnly swear to take Peter Williams as your lawfully wedded husband, to love and cherish him, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health till death do you part?

Everywhere was dead silent for a while as the sound of a pin could be heard if dropped to the ground. Everyone watched and listened closely anticipating my reply.

I looked around to examine the faces of the people, everywhere was crowded, with friends and well wishers, family members, business partners and the media who flashed light taking photos of this moment.

I really hope they take and keep a record of the expression on Peter's face of what I'm about to say next.

On their faces were confused, wondering why I was taking long to respond, I looked at my maid of honor behind me and she gave me a thumbs up with a whisper in my ear

You've got this, whatever decision you make I'll advise you don't just think of the 'now' think of tomorrow and the future.

I nodded in agreement as I looked up at the priest, then to the congregation again and back to Peter, I could sense he was already shaking from his looks. He said, Please say yes, I looked at him, I could see the despair in his eyes, but I feigned to smile at him and I said.........
