Brenda's POV
Chapter 1 - Brenda
The sun was out early that morning, and as a result the room was bright.
I had literally dragged myself out of bed and was now sitting on a wooden chair next to it, still
half-asleep.
All of a sudden, my alarm went off. "Oh no," I mumbled under my breath.
My alarm was the worst kind. If it weren't already impossible, I would wager that it could bring
a dead person back to life.
I got to my feet and fell back onto the chair. "Ouch," I moaned. That was what woke me up -
the chair.
I had no idea what kind of wood it was, but sometimes, I wasn't even sure it was wood. It was
so hard, I doubt an axe would have any effect.
I was awake now. The chair had done its job.
I was idly sweeping the room with my eyes when I remembered. Then I leapt to my feet, my
mind racing over the things I had to do that day.
There was actually only one thing. The club party that evening was the headline of my day.
Every other thing I had to do was in preparation for it. Oh my God it's gonna be rock breaking,
I thought to myself. I had planned to attend the club party to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday.
It was the first party I was attending in a while and I couldn't wait to get on with it.
I smiled. "It's gonna be a lit night, B," I said to myself. At the same time, I heard a knock on
the door.
I had no idea who it was but I invited the person in anyway.
A man walked in, or should I say a boy? I had known Jerry for a long time, and we had spent
many years living together. His dad and mine used to be very close friends, and so after he lost
his dad, he moved in with us. He had been living in our house since then.
Sometimes I thought he was a man. Other times, I didn't think so. There was this one time I
saw him shirtless and oh my God! What abs he had. He was tall, attractive and had one of the
finest faces I'd ever seen. He was however not my type. I remember when I told him that, he
had replied that he was everybody's type.
I'd simply laughed it off and changed the subject. I knew he wasn't going to give up, but I didn't
care. He just wasn't the one for me and I knew it. As in, he was not my spec. I mean; he wasn't
even in my category.
I've always wanted a tall, cute, rich and funny guy, with long curly hair resting on his shoulders.
I know it was a tad too excessive but who cares? I could get anything I wanted!
Anyway, I found all of that in Romo, my boyfriend. He was the proper boyfriend material. You
know what I mean. The only thing he lacked was the long curly hair, and I hoped he would get
it someday.
I spotted Jerry and Romo in a corner as we walked out of the detention room. They were about
getting into a fight when I saw them, and I had to move quickly to get between them.
"What is it this time?" I questioned.
"You know what it is," Romo said.
"He started it," Jerry protested.
"You're both unbelievable," I said, then moved to introduce Max to them but I reconsidered. It
wasn't going to do me any good, and neither was it going to help Max in any way.
Max waved goodbye and left.
"What's wrong with you guys?" I asked, referring to Jerry and Romo.
"What were you doing with that lowlife?" Romo asked.
"Really?" I rolled my eyes as I asked. "First of all, he is not a lowlife and his name is Max.
He's my new friend," I added, walking away.
