Even though Julie has a boyfriend, her parents want her to get married to Harry Michaelson the senator's son. Seeing that Julie didn't like him, Harry decides that they go on with the wedding and get divorced after a week. Julie bought the idea happily. But as they both get to France for their honeymoon, they come to find themselves in a situation where they have to run around together for their safety as Julie's misunderstanding boyfriend tries hunting Harry down for marrying his girl.
"Julie!... Julie!!... Julie!!!"
I heard my name as I opened the front door but I decided not to answer as I was fully attentive to my phone which I held in both hands as my fingers tapped over my keyboard.
"Julie!" The piercing, shrieky approaching voice of my 11 year old sister called again. This time, it was louder as she caught up with me just as I walked into the living room.
"Julie!" She held my arm.
"What?" I asked smoothly as I looked down at her beside me and realized she was growing taller as her head was almost at the same length as my shoulder.
"You have to come help unpack." She points her thumb back at the taxi outside the house, catching her breath at the same time.
"Where's Derek?"
"I don't know." She turns to go. "Vera said I come get you. Come on!."
I groaned. "Derek!!" I yelled into the house and then went back out. Derek is the house help and he was supposed to be carrying our bags in.
The taxi had just dropped us after our trip from Kansas where we had been for a week for our summer vacation. It's been a tiring trip for goodness sake!
As I walked back to the walkway where the taxi had dropped us, Vera was standing beside our luggages with folded arms and a frown.
As I came closer, she unfold her arms revealing her bellybutton below the rainbow coloured crop top she had on over fitted carton brown crazy jeans.
"Where's Derek?" I asked her.
"How would I know that?" She shot back. Vera, 19 years, is my immediate younger sister yet that's how she always shot answers at me. She was very cold and stubborn and disrespectful and get on my nerves six days in a week.
Although I was three years older than she was, she was taller. She tucked her straight neck length ebony black hair behind her ears and placed her fingers which were full of knuckle rings on the biggest box waiting for me to join in.
Tonia was already making to lift the smallest box.
"God! I'm so famished yet I have to carry this bag again?" I made for my own bag which was smaller than the biggest.
"You know I can't lift this alone." She said with her hand still on top of it.
I sighed and held the other side of the bag. Both her clothes and that of Tonia were in the bag. After carrying it with her into the living room, I left her to pull it to her room while I went back to get my own bag.
While I pulled the luggage in through the door I texted my boyfriend, Boyd.
'Hey, honey. I'm back!' with winking and kissing emojis.
I shut the door and headed upstairs to my room waiting for him to come online to reply my message.
Placing my bag beside my closet, I logged into my Instagram account to look at the picture of me which I had posted an hour ago already flooded with numerous views, likes and sweet comments.
It was a picture I took while I was still in Kansas this morning, at the beach; Standing under the Cocoanut tree, I struck a beautiful pose in the orange coloured singlet I wore over a navy blue bum-short jeans and an unbottoned black woolen sweater that hung loosely to the sides of my knees. With my left hand dug deep into my hair, the sun in it's perfect timing radiance shone through my honey brown straight hair causing it to glow down my shoulders.
Not to mention my captivating green eyes, Vera took the perfect shot for me.
Vera was our photographer for she was good at it.
Aside the numerous selfies and photos of me which I took myself during our travel and stay in Kansas, and out of the ones Vera took for me, this one was the best and my followers affirmed it with the continuous growth of my likes and comments.
I took off the black sweater and hung it before throwing myself on the bed.
Before going back to my post, Boyd's message popped up and I clicked on it quickly.
'I don't like that photo you posted. Delete it ASAP.'
I scrolled up to see if he had replied my 'Hey, honey, I'm back!' without me seeing it. But the message that came right after it was this; asking me to delete my picture.
The picture that even I was so proud of? I went back to the post, this time, ignoring all the reaction that was still pouring in. I got annoyed and threw my phone beside me on the bed.
What the hell was wrong with this picture? I asked myself. I sighed angrily and went back to view my own post again.
That's when I saw that my right hand which I placed on my knee wasn't positioned so attractively after all. And the way I posed, I hadn't even pushed my behind out like I should. I stared at the picture again. My smile isn't even pretty here like it is in real life.
This picture isn't so perfect after all. I convinced myself and I was truly convinced. All these likes and comments may not even be heartfelt and sincere. What did I expect? I groaned as the picture I admired some minutes ago began to appear faulty and imperfect before I finally deleted it.
Tonia walked in as if on cue.
"Julie, I'm hungry!"
"Go have your Ice cream." I advised, going back to my phone.
"I already ate my Ice cream. I'm hungry again. Nana isn't in the kitchen. It's like she and Derek disappeared."
"Well, Vera would have to cook for you today. Go on and meet her."
I guess Tonia knew going to Tonia was the same as remaining hungry.
"Ever since those people came to visit mum and dad they've been going out so much."
"What people?" I asked without much actual interest.
"The parents of the man that's going to marry you."
