Little Luna

Melissa’s POV

“Now I know you don’t like him but your 18th birthday is coming up in three months and there is no escaping your fate”mum put her hand on my shoulder and squeezed lightly, “look, as far as he’s your mate, you will learn to love him plus the mate bond will pull you closer together”

“Mum, I know” I muttered under my breath

“That’s all you have to say? You should learn to speak your mind more often, let me know your thoughts” she had a worried look on her face as she cupped my face in her hands.

How could I say it? I don’t want to be mated to that arrogant prick, Damian. I would rather be mated to his kid bro even though he is like ten years younger than me. We could make it work...I think . I was prophesied to be the Luna, that doesn’t mean I am mated to Damian...right? Yeah, who am I kidding?

Everyone who knows Damian must feel really bad for me since I am the unfortunate she-wolf who is going to be his mate, that’s why my mum is really nervous since my 18th birthday is coming up pretty soon. She along everyone else is hoping that when we are officially mated, I could change Damian for the better. I roll my eyes at that thought, that’s mission impossible

“You’ve zoned out on me” my mum pulled me out of my train of thoughts pulling my attention back to her. I could see the worry in her hazel nut eyes, my mum was in her late thirties but she could pass as my sister anytime. Her ebony black hair fell in wavy lengths and rested on her back, she had high cheek bones with a well sculpted nose resting proudly on her face. She could easily be mistaken for a model, luckily for me, I was a spitting image of my mother. The only difference between us was our attitude, my mum was very chatty, she talked on and on while me on the other hand barely managed to let words escape my lips.

“Look, you have nothing to worry about, okay?” She assured me, actually to assure herself more. It was easy to tell who was more worried in the room. I gave my mum a warm smile and hugged her tightly, she clasped her arms round me and pulled me closer as if she never wanted to let me go.

“Okay” she pulled away briskly from me and held my face in her hands, “you better be off to school before your late

“I love you mum”

“I think fireworks will do, what do you think?”

“Huh, sorry I didn’t get you” I was brought back to reality by the sound of Ivy talking, I wasn’t really sure what she was talking about but I could take a good guess that it was about my birthday party. She has been talking about it since I turned seventeen, it’s not like she loves planning parties or that she is devoted to seeing me happy, she’s just excited to be friends with the Luna. I know it makes her look shady but trust me, there is no other person you will want by your side when times are tough.

“Earth to Luna ” she snapped her fingers in my face

“Yes, fireworks will be nice but can I ask for what exactly?”

“For your party silly, now I’m thinking it will be after you are officially announced as the Luna ” she babbled on non stop but I didn’t care. I liked listening to her chatters, she was like a bubbly chatter box with an infectious smile always playing across her lips whenever she was rambling on about anything than was anything

“Can’t you ever shut up” a brunette girl with her hair tied in a ponytail walked up to us

“Oh Linda, you finally remembered us, I thought you were too busy with your new mate”, Ivy said haughtily and she folded her arms on her chest and placed her lips in a pout making her look like a child denied candy

“How could I ever forget you guys, your my family” she put her arms across both I and Ivy pulling us into a group hug. Linda found her mate some weeks ago, Connor. They are really a perfect match unlike I and Damian. She has been spending so much time with him lately and since he is 25 and comes from a different pack, she has been distant making our friendship group seem hollow.

“So, what are you guys talking about?” She asked, finally releasing us from her hug

“Well, if you must know, we were talking about serious pack matters” Ivy said, clearly still angry with her

“Pack matters like Melissa’s 18th birthday which, no surprise there, is being planned in a grand style with every body eagerly awaiting to see the fulfillment of the goddess’s prophesy. That serious pack matter?”

“Look, my birthday is like three months away and you know I don’t want to think about it”their eyes softened at my words

“We know how you feel, we are sorry. The mate bond can change anybody, trust me” Linda placed a sympathetic hand on my shoulder

“You know what? We should have a small party, just the three of us. It will be like a pre-birthday party party” Ivy chirped happily

“Thanks, I would really love that” I smiled at her.

See, she can be really nice.

“Cheer up girl, you’re about to become the luna of the crescent moon pack, that’s something to celebrate” Linda shook my shoulders with a bright smile on her face, her words made a smile to creep slowly onto my face.

The bell rang signaling the beginning of classes. We headed of to class together going since the three of us shared the first period which was English. Classes went smoothly although I didn’t share some of the classes with my friends, now it was time for lunch and man, I am really hungry.

In the cafeteria, I could see students sitting in groups, my eyes searched the room fro my friends, I spotted them seated on a table by the side and proceeded to make my way up to them with my tray of French fries in hand.

“Melissa, come sit with us”, Ginny called out from her table filled with all the popular girls both in the school and in the pack. They were just a bunch of plastic girls who were only nice to me because of well, you already know. I once overheard them talking about how weak my wolf was in the bathroom and questioning whether the goddess was drunk when she made such a prophesy. Apparently, lunas are meant to be strong and demand respect just like their alpha mates but for me, my wolf is weak. She doesn’t surface much just sometimes when she has to go for a run which is really rare. My mum suggested I should train in the pack gym but that didn’t work for me. I went for two days, but workouts aren’t really for me. I hate exercise, prefer to lie on my bed all day and watch TikTok videos...now that’s living life.

“I’m sorry but she doesn’t eat with bitches”, Linda said before I could even form any stupid excuse. She probably noticed my dilemma and came over to my rescue. She linked her hand in mine and lead me to their table.

“Did you see that, she is such a mute”

“She can’t even speak for herself” I could hear their discussion and apparently so could my friends

“Oh, I’m going to kill that bitch” Linda thumped her hands angrily on the table, she tried to walk over to their table but I held her wrists stopping her from doing anything she’ll regret.

“Let it go, Linda. I don’t care what they say”I placed my hands on her, trying to reassure her that I was okay.

“Okay, fine. I’ll let it slide just this once but next time she won’t be so lucky” Linda sat down to continue with her meal

“But really Melissa, you should speak more, you are always quiet” Ivy said with concern laced in her voice

“And also way too nice to everybody, she can’t even hurt a fly” Linda added

“I or Ivy won’t always be there to protect you...luckily for you, when you become the luna, all pack members are sworn to protect you but you have to be able to take care of your self cos without a Luna we will be weak” Linda has given me this lecture many times since we were growing up but I have tried, most times I just don’t know what to say. The words get stuck in my throat

“You...” ivy’s words were cut short by the presence that entered the room.

Damian.

The cafeteria grew silent as he sauntered into the room, he was heading to my direction with his eyes locked on me.Fuck. I could see how the girls ogled him like he was some perfect sculpture. I really don’t see the appeal.

“Hi baby” he plopped down next to me and pulled me onto his lap.

“Let go of me” I said softly trying to free myself from his tight hold instead he held on tighter, planting kisses on my neck. I really hated PDA and I was sure everybody was watching us.

“Damian just stop”, I tried to free myself from his tight clasp but damn it, I wasn’t strong enough.

“Don’t you have any other girl you could be with right now” I said still trying to pry off his massive arms

“Nah, they bore me so I decided to play with something new” he coiled my hair in his hands with a wicked smirk playing on his lips. “Come with me” he didn’t give me a chance to respond before he started dragging me towards the exit.

“ Damian wait, where are you going?” Linda called after him while trying to catch up to us

“Ah, I’m going to have some fun with my little Luna” he said as he opened his car and shoved me roughly inside. Was I getting kidnapped in broad daylight, like, what the fuck?

“Damian, where are you taking me?” I asked trying not to giveaway the fact that I was a little bit scared

“Don’t worry little Luna, just enjoy the ride” he placed his free hand on my lap making me feel more uncomfortable than I already was. After a few minutes of driving, we arrived at a remote location with no sign of life in sight. The fear was clearly visible on my face at this point

“Get out from the car” Damian commanded in a strict voice

“Please, I ...”

“I said get out, you’ll have a lot of time to beg me later”he smirked wickedly. I knew they was no use begging, I needed to get out of here and fast. I unlocked the door quickly trying to make a run for it but before I could make it a few miles, he pinned me violently to a tree and enveloped me in a rough kiss, which felt very possessive and lustful , his hands were roaming my body in a random motion, grabbing anything he could get his hands on.He moved for my shirt and tried to undo the buttons while hot tears rowed down my eyes.

“Damian step away from Melissa ” a domineering voice halted Damian in his actions. Alpha Jacob was standing a few feet away from us, shooting a fierce look at his son who was a spitting replica of him. The dirty blonde hair, pair of ocean blue eyes and a sharp jawline. Funny how I could always admire these features in Alpha Jacob but never his son.

“Melissa, come with me and Damian toss me your car keys, your trekking back home” he commanded. I tried to fix myself and also fight back the tears but it was too late, they were already flowing like a river. Alpha Jacob cleaned my tears and covered me with his jacket. I entered his black Tesla and sat in the passenger seat while he went to discuss something with Damian. By the look of their facial expressions, I could tell it wasn’t pleasant. Alpha Jacob pried the keys forcefully from his hands and then punched him squarely in the face that he doubled over, clutching his nose in pain. I looked away as I saw him walking up to the car,I turned to his direction when I heard the car door open. “Now, lets get you home, little Luna” he said as he ignited the car

“In just three months you will be mine, all mine and there’s nothing anyone can do about it” Damian shouted as we drove out leaving him behind. Just the thought of my life in three months time made me shiver
