"Leave me alone, Shantal!" ash said annoyed to me. He's my husband, actually I'm probably the only one who calls him husband because he never once considered me his wife. And his family just forced him to marry me, so he followed it against his will. I smiled at myself in front of the mirror and wiped my tears. I know that he didn't love me, because he still hopes that his ex girlfriend or let's say ex fiance will come back to him. Our scene at the mansion is always fighting, sometimes he ignores me like I'm just wind by his side. And most of all we have different rooms, I laughed at what I thought because the other couple had only one room but we didn't. "Let's eat ma'am" I heard the knock in my room."yes manang" I said. I stood up and went downstairs and saw my husband done with his meal and ready to go. "Are you going to leave?" I asked, he just looked at me and left, not even an answer. I ate quietly by myself and just ignored it. After I ate, I decided to go to mom's mansion, but I was just outside the gate when I felt weak and I could barely handle what I saw. I saw ashton leaning in his car while kissing with someone. __________

Chapter 1 1

"Are you and Ash okay?" my mom asked, I nodded and smiled bitterly.

"Of course, he's sweet and gentlemen" I answered, mom smiled at me.

If they know what Ash wants from me, they might keep me away or force me to file for divorce, that's what I don't want to do because I love him so much no matter what pain he puts me through.

After I went for a walk, I first went to the cemetery and visited my grandmother, she was the only one I told about my problem when I was a child, but she was taken away.

I knelt down and lit a candle on his grave.

"I'm here grandma" I started and took the dry leaves from her tombstone.

"So you know why the first question you always ask me is, am I okay? Actually, I'm not okay grandma," I said weakly.

After all, there's no one and I'm alone here in the cemetery, I'm free to drama now, chos!!

"Then you'll ask me, why and what is the reason why I'm sad, grandma? My answer is about a-ashton"

I feel like a fool talking to the grave but it doesn't matter.

"When mom finds out what Ash always wants in the mansion, I'm sure she'll force me to file a divorce so don't tell her, I love him so much I don't want to lose him grandma....I love him so I can handle it" I smiled bitterly.

"Oh it's a handkerchief"

I looked behind me and my jaw almost dropped now.

"A-Ash.."

---

"Are you and Ash okay?" my mom asked, her concern evident in her voice. I nodded, forcing a smile that felt more like a grimace.

"Of course, he's sweet and a gentleman," I replied, hoping to quell any suspicions. Mom's smile reassured me momentarily, but beneath the facade, fear gnawed at me.

If only they knew the truth about Ash's desires, they might intervene, urging me to distance myself or worse, pressuring me to file for divorce. But I couldn't bear the thought of losing him, despite the pain he inflicted.

After excusing myself for a walk, I found solace in the cemetery, where I sought counsel from my late grandmother, the only one I had confided in as a child before she was taken from me.

Kneeling before her grave, I lit a candle, the flickering flame casting shadows on the worn tombstone.

"I'm here, grandma," I began softly, brushing away dry leaves. "You always asked if I was okay. The truth is, I'm not okay."

Alone amidst the silent gravestones, I allowed myself to speak freely, unburdening my heart to the one person who had always listened without judgment.

"And then you'd ask why I was sad," I continued, my voice trembling. "It's about Ashton."

Feeling foolish yet strangely liberated, I poured out my fears and insecurities, confessing the secret that weighed heavy on my soul.

"When Mom learns of Ash's true intentions in the mansion, she'll demand I leave him," I confessed tearfully, my heart aching with the prospect of losing him. "But I love him too much to let go. I'll endure whatever pain comes my way."

As I wiped away my tears with a trembling hand, a rustle behind me caused my heart to skip a beat.

"Ash..." I stammered, turning to face him, my emotions laid bare before him in the flickering candlelight.

---

Ashton's presence loomed before me, his expression a mix of concern and curiosity as he approached.

"I didn't mean to eavesdrop," he began, his voice soft, "but I couldn't help overhearing."

I tensed, my defenses rising instinctively. "How much did you hear?" I asked, my voice betraying a hint of fear.

He sighed, his gaze gentle yet penetrating. "Enough to know you're hurting, and that you're keeping something from me."

I hesitated, torn between the desire to confide in him and the fear of his reaction. But as I met his unwavering gaze, I sensed a sincerity that thawed the walls around my heart.

"It's about the mansion," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "What do you want from it, Ash?"

His expression softened, remorse flickering in his eyes. "I should have been honest with you from the start," he admitted, his words heavy with regret. "The truth is, I inherited the mansion from my late grandfather, but it's burdened with debts I can't repay."

I listened in stunned silence, the pieces of the puzzle slowly falling into place. "So that's why you've been distant, why you've been avoiding me," I murmured, a mixture of hurt and understanding coursing through me.

He nodded, his gaze searching mine for forgiveness. "I didn't want to drag you into my mess," he confessed, his vulnerability stripping away the barriers between us. "But I realize now that keeping secrets only drives us further apart."

Tears welled in my eyes as the weight of his confession lifted the shadows from my heart. "I'm here for you, Ash," I whispered, reaching out to him. "No matter what challenges we face, we'll face them together."

In that moment, amidst the silent gravestones and flickering candlelight, we found solace in each other's embrace, united by the promise of honesty and the enduring strength of our love.

---

---

The morning sun cast a warm glow over the mansion as Ashton and I sat in the elegant dining room, savoring a rare moment of tranquility amidst the chaos of our lives.

"I never imagined owning a place like this," I remarked, tracing my finger along the intricate patterns of the tablecloth.

Ashton smiled, his eyes distant yet filled with a hint of nostalgia. "It holds a lot of memories," he admitted, his voice tinged with both sorrow and longing.

I reached out to him, sensing the weight of his emotions. "Tell me about it," I urged gently, eager to unravel the mysteries of his past.

He hesitated, as if wrestling with demons long buried beneath the surface. But as he met my gaze, a flicker of resolve sparked in his eyes.

"It wasn't always like this," he began, his voice tinged with bitterness. "When my grandfather was alive, the mansion was a place of joy and laughter. But after he passed away, everything changed."

I listened in rapt attention as Ashton recounted the tumultuous events that had shaped his childhood, the betrayal of trust and the shattered dreams that had driven him to the brink of despair.

"I thought I could escape the past by leaving this place behind," he confessed, his voice thick with emotion. "But the past has a way of catching up with you, no matter how hard you try to run."

Tears welled in my eyes as I reached out to him, offering comfort and understanding in the face of his pain. "You don't have to face it alone, Ash," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion. "Together, we can confront the past and build a future filled with hope and love."

In that moment, amidst the faded grandeur of the mansion and the echoes of bygone memories, we made a silent vow to confront our demons and forge a new path forward, bound together by the unbreakable bonds of love and resilience.

"Calista!" Nix called out to me. "What? Is there a problem?" I felt the tension in his eyes. "You're not going to jail anymore, Caliee. The accident proved everything!" He shouted, embracing me and kissing my forehead. I couldn't help but slowly start to cry. "It's okay, Caliee, I told you that you're innocent." "T-thank you, Nix." I checked all my social media accounts and found both negative and positive comments at the same time. This is the reality that I can't avoid haters in the online world. Many are on my side, many are on Caleb's, as if we're fighting our own beliefs. I sat down on the couch, feeling incredibly happy and anxious at the same time. I know Caleb won't give up on me. "Calista!" I heard someone call my name outside the hotel door. "Come out!" they shouted, banging on the door. When I opened it, the heavily intoxicated Caleb greeted me, "C-Caleb?" I asked. Many were holding him back, but he was struggling, "L-let go, bro." He looked at me as if scrutinizing my entire being. "Fine! Let out your anger on me, what else do you want? Everything's been proven... It was all an accident!" As the guards left, he entered my room, slowly approaching me until I leaned against the wall. His eyes were filled with rage and hatred, as if he could kill me at any moment. "W-what do you--" I couldn't speak anymore as he punched the wall next to me. “Why, Calista? Why did you take away the woman I love?" He shouted at me while continuing to cry. "W-what do you want!" I shouted back, pushing him away. He threw my belongings, hitting my foot, causing me to stumble. "D-damn it, what!" I held my injured foot, looking straight at him, observing his angry face. I took a deep breath and spoke again, "What do you want to make you quiet? My body? Money? Wealth! That's all I have! If you want me to bring back your fiancée..." "I'm not God! Do you understand? If I could bring her back, I would've done it already, I regret it every day, every hour." I want this to end, I'm so tired. I can't take it anymore. I straightened my head bravely. I uttered the words I knew I would regret. "If I have sex with you, will you forgive me?" I bravely asked, tears slowly streaming down my cheeks. He stared at my entire body, unable to even look into my eyes. "I will never forgive you," he replied weakly and hoarsely. "Why? It wasn't intentional, it was all an accident! It's not my fault that your fiancée died, I lost my brakes, how many times do I have to tell you that I-I'm not at fault!" "It's your fault! because damn you, why? Calista? why did you kill my fiancée!" A loud shout stunned me. It's not my fault, it's not my fault, it's an accident, I didn't mean to kill anyone, I didn't have brakes that day! "Why don't you just give up? Why do you still fight for your beliefs, even though both of us know that it's really you! f*ck you! Calista." I took a deep breath and looked at his face. "W-will you have sex with me! After that, my debt to you will be paid, can we do that, prosecutor Villanueva?" I bravely asked again. He stared at me, unresponsive. "Stop," he shouted loudly. "Why? Don't you want to? So I can pay you back! You'll disgrace me! Take away my dignity! Because it's my fault! Because I'm a b*tch! Because this is what you want, to feel every day that something is being taken from me! That I'm being robbed! But you don't want money, you want me to regret it every day, so here it is." He approached me and kissed me, my tears flowing as he kissed me, while he undressed me, I was sobbing softly, he continued kissing me, from my ears down to my neck, he observed my entire body. He slowly laid me down, slowly removing my clothes, as he did, I closed my eyes. He continued to explore my body, from my thighs to even the deepest parts of my femininity. "TODAY is our fourth anniversary. Then... T-Then... Are you just playing with me? Tell me, Jai. Do you really love me?" I asked him while I was crying. It feels like my chest is being stabbed with a sharp blade and it seems non-stop, so I feel more pain in my heart. "I love you, Miamor. I love you, so much, baby..." "But you can leave me just like that and marry your best friend?! Or are you just lying? That you don't really love me and that Jillian is exactly who you want to be with and not me!" I screamed and my tears started falling down my cheeks. My chest is just getting tighter and it seems I'm having trouble breathing again. Feels like a big hand is squeezing my heart. "I love you, Miamor but I want to help Jillian. She needs--" "You don't love me, Jai! I never felt that love! You give it to others and not to me! So, you can hurt me like this! You are only doing this because of your best friend! So, that you and Jillian can be free!" I said, it's roaring. He just shook his head at me and I could see tears also falling from his eyes and he even bit his lower lip. His fist was tight so his veins came out there. "I'm sorry..." What he said made me even more sad. Four years. We've been in a relationship for 4 years and I admit to myself, I never felt the love he says. Cause he always thinks of Jillian. I knew that girl had a space in his heart, because otherwise... If he really loves me he will choose me, and he will leave Jillian, not me... "I regret giving myself to you. I regret knowing you and wasting my time just to love you. What a coward you are!" "SENATOR Ferrara?" It seems like I woke up from a deep slumber of my past when I heard my secretary's voice and a faint shaking on my shoulder. I sat down and fixed my glasses. I was still breathing before I turned my back on her. "Are we here yet?" I asked, no emotion and she just nodded at me. We just got back from Manila because I had an urgent meeting in Singapore with Dad but he came back here earlier. The door on my side opened and I unbuckled my seatbelt and slowly got out of the car. Others bring relief goods. The ward of the fire victims is on the second floor so, we took the elevator. I took off my glasses and gave this to my secretary. The elevator opened, a sign that we are already on the second floor. I was about ready to go out when I saw a doctor standing across from me. It's like he's waiting for the elevator to open too. The guy is tall and has a big body. He is slightly bent over while reading what is on the paper he is holding right now. One hand was stuck in his pants pocket. He was wearing glasses too. But his build is familiar to me. I just don't know why my heart reacted so fast. I got out of the elevator completely and accidentally broke his shoulder. "Damn it," I heard him curse and my eyebrows just rose up. I rolled my eyes. For the second time around, I got pulled over again when I stepped on something. I took it and checked the ID. Only to make my heart beat faster when I read the name of the owner. Dr. Jaickel San Amero. Neurologist Doctor. I faced him, "This is yours?" I asked him with no emotion written on my face. He stopped and looked at me. I can't see him in shock because he has no emotion either. I stepped closer to him and he didn't even avoid my gaze. I don't know if he recognizes me yet or not. "You drop this, Dr. American," I casually said and handed him his ID. He quickly snatched it from me without interrupting staring at me. No word I turned my back on him then walked straight on. “LUCAS!” I happily called my husband when I saw him outside the small house. He just stood there. I opened the door of my car and hurriedly got out and ran to where he was. My tears flowed quickly and the heaviness in my chest suddenly disappeared when I saw him after two years of his absence. "Lucas..." I cried, saying his name and hugging him tightly. I could feel his stony face and I knew he was surprised by what I did. "I-I miss you so much, Lucas... I've been looking for you for so long... I thought... I-I thought I'd never see you again..." I told him crying and I buried my face in his chest. My tears fell one after the other. He has been missing for two years after the accident happened to him and we have not been able to find him. Most people said that he might be dead, even though we didn't see his body. It was raining heavily at that time. The ship they were on sank and we spent several years looking for him. I never got tired of looking for him because I knew...he was alive. My husband is alive... He promised that he would never leave me. He promised that we would be together forever. That's why I felt so much pain when we lost him and fortunately his friends helped and we found him in a distant province. Even though it was dark, I still came out. I miss Lucas so much that I couldn't wait any longer. I traveled alone to this place. I just cry on his chest but I feel like he doesn't move. But I didn't pay attention to that and I hugged her tighter. "B-Let's go back, Lucas... Let's go back to Manila... S-I missed you so much... I love you... M-I love you so much..." I said and he started moving . I thought he was going to hug me back but I was wrong. He slowly released my hands that were hugging his body and retreated slightly. “L-Lucas?” I said his name in confusion. Why is he walking away and why? "Bythesea..." he said my name. I nodded tearfully. "Y-Yes, it's me... It's me, Lucas... I'm Bythesea..." I said. “Only a few of my memories came back but...” According to my private investigator, Lucas developed amnesia due to his head injury. That's why he didn't come back to us right away because he forgot about us. It was painful for me that my husband would forget me, but it all disappeared when I saw him again. I was so happy and the iron-like thing attached to my neck disappeared so I can breathe well. "U-Let's go home, Lucas..." I said and held his hand. I felt something cold on his finger. I looked down at it and I thought at first it was our wedding ring but I was wrong... This is no longer her ring... I stopped crying for a moment and my lips parted. I looked at him again... "Lucas..." "Franko, dear?" I froze when I heard a woman's voice and she approached my husband. He hugged his arm and he didn't notice me yet. "Franko, it's foggy here. You might get sick... Come inside, my love...” My chest felt numb at what I heard and I looked confusedly at Lucas who was no longer looking at me. But with the beautiful woman... There is a sparkle in her eyes... That I only see every time she looks at me. Why do I see that in others? I cried... It was like I felt a little jealousy. "Come on, Franko..." "Just a moment, dear..." I suddenly felt soft... My knee immediately shook. What... What's dear? Who is he? Who is this girl? B-Why... "W-Who are they?" "Who are you?" instead of answering him I just returned his question. "Who are you?" I repeat my question. "My name is Nenina. Franko is my husband. M-Do you need anything?" My eyes quickly searched for an evidence if what they were saying was true. It was like something like a knife went into my chest when I saw the partner of the ring that my husband was wearing... “L-Lucas...” "Franko... His name is Franko..." the woman corrected me and I shook my head. I started crying again. I can't even wipe my cheeks anymore. “Lucas... W-What is this?” It took a long time before he answered me... "I'm married to Nenina, Bythesea... Sorry..." I clutched my chest. I was deafened by what I heard and felt like the world stopped spinning. My heart stopped beating for a moment until it started beating faster. "Lucas..." I can't accept... How...is he already married to someone else? W-We are married... He is my husband... Lucas is my husband...
