Emma had been alone for six days and six nights with no sign of the love of her life by her side and it kept eating her deep.
Trevor was no kid else she would have been worried that something was not right with him.
She tossed and turned on the large but cold bed and soon, she opened her phone to check the time again and it was eight PM.
Would he still be back tonight? She thought and looked towards her room door wishing he shows up from God knows where.
"Trevor I miss you! Please come come." she whispered and that remained one of the worst night of her life. She ended up sleeping and by the time she woke, it was nine AM. Tired, she tried to stand up to go to the bathroom when she heard some sounds coming from the sitting room. It turns out he was back. Bouncing in excited, she stood up and couldn't wait to watch him come in and just like she wished, Trevor finally arrived.
In relief, she walked up to him and blessed him with the warmest hug ever as some tears threatened to slip out of her eyes.
"I am happy you came back Trevor. I have been so worried about you. Where did you go?" she asked him even though she wasn't expecting any answers from him.
"Good morning to you Emma." he said coldly and though she sensed it, she tried her best to ensure she gave him the impression that she was dumb. Ignoring the audacity to call her by her name.
"Anyways, I just woke up. Give me some time to freshen up and after that, I will make us something simple to eat." she said and walked into the bathroom to wash up.
She came out of the bathroom in her white towel and when she saw the sight in her room, she stood frozen.
"What the hell is going on Trevor? What are you doing? Stop!" she said and walked up to him and tried to top him by scattering all of the clothes he had arranged in a box.
She couldn't understand why he was packing his clothes. It looked strange and she wasn't willing to accept that he was going to leave her again.
"Emma stop!" he warned her, placed his box well and began arranging his belongings into it again.
"Trevor make me understand." she said to him, trying to take him out of the spot he stood.
"Stop with the desperation!" he shouted and she froze.
The shock that she felt stayed in her, refusing to move an inch but then after a few minutes, she was able to get herself.
"D...did you just say I am desperate?" she asked him but Trevor didn't look prepared to reply her...
"Trevor you aren't answering me. We have been in this relationship for about five years now and counting. We have been good for crying out loud, what changed? I want to know the reason why you could all of a sudden live without me for days and weeks maybe. You have been out for six days and after you return all you can give to me is the cold shoulders? I am sorry if I am complaining but I am going crazy already. Tell me my offense and I will apologize for it." she said to him but he wasn't willing to listen and after packing all his belongings, he changed his shoes and turned to her.
"You did nothing wrong. I just need a break."
"A break? Without me doing anything wrong? You just got back from a break." she said to him and he looked unwilling to have so many talks with her.
"I need to go now." he said to her and turned to leave but she wasn't ready to let the conversation end.
She walked to the door faster and had it locked and stood at it.
"You can't just leave. I need a good explanation."
"Yeah you always want explanation for everything. What do you want to hear?" he said to her, slowly losing his patience.
"Anything. Tell me any freaking thing. I want to know why I am being treated this way. Five years. This is the attitude you are bringing up after five years? No I deserve an explanation."
"The explanation is that I am tired of you. Can you let me go now. I never signed for this to be a do or die affair. You should move on. I hate desperation and you know it." he said to her in a harsh tone.
Emma felt her heart crash as she got the biggest shock of her life. Like being struck by lightening, she looked at him, hot tears already streaming out of her face as she struggled to find herself.
She staggered backwards a bit and almost lost her footings but managed to balance herself as she looked up at the man that had promised her the whole world.
"Trevor we can work this out. I beg you don't do this." she said as she held his palm but he pushed her away.
"You said you loved me Trevor and promised never to leave." she tried to remind him.
"I NEVER LOVED YOU..." he replied her, looking into her eyes as he watched her go through the trauma alone.
"When did this start Trevor?" Emma asked, her eyes closed.
"Three months into this relationship." he replied get.
"That's not true!" she panted as she held her heart refusing to accept this betrayal and deep hurt.
"Emma you have to accept it. My father has always being skeptical about you. Right from the moment I showed you to him. So if he can't accept you, why should I? My reputation has to be restored, I only want to move forward in life so if you truly love me like you claim, you would want the best for me." he said to her, not letting go of his luggage.
