Ariana runs away from her pack after being mistreated and cast aside for not being able to fully express her wolf form. While fleeing, she is attacked by rogues but is saved by Ryan, an infuriating yet undeniably handsome werewolf. Ryan brings Ariana to his pack, where she meets Roy, Ryan's younger brother and the Alpha. At first, Ariana sees Roy as kind, gentle, and caring-everything Ryan appears not to be, as Ryan seems ruthless and cold. But as secrets unravel, Ariana discovers that appearances can be deceiving. She learns that Ryan's bloodthirsty behavior is the result of a terrible curse, and Roy may not be as noble as he seemed. Now, Ariana must decide who to trust-Roy, the Alpha who showed her kindness, or Ryan, the cursed Lycan with a hidden truth.

Chapter 1 CH.1 (The Runaway)

"Come on Ariana, you can do this," A young lady said to herself as she moved through the darkness, trying as much as possible to get to shelter before the angry clouds pour out on her. She knew she had to hurry up before her step father notices that she had run away and sends his sentinels to go after her.

"Please don't rain" Ariana begged the universe, but it seemed the universe was in no mood for prayers because as soon as she said that in her head, the rain poured heavily without warning and in seconds she was as drenched as a sewage pipe rat.

Eventually, she reached a restaurant which she had seen from afar and she rushed in soaking wet. The restaurant was devoid of customers and she thanked the universe again, at least no one who knew her would be there.

A waiter placed a menu and she ordered and sat waiting. She looked around, just to be sure that one of her stepfather's spies wasn't there, or maybe had snuck in with her. Those sentinels were the very best and they could smell anyone from anywhere. The fact that she was now drenched from the rain was another reason that would make it easy for them to smell her.

The waiter returned and served her hot scalding tea and without hesitation Ariana downed it in one gulp. The rain continued pouring harder and she sighed as she drank the last of her tea. She couldn't stop now, not now that she was eventually away from her step father's reach.

She dropped the empty ceramic cup and got to her feet as she headed out of the restaurant. Just as she was about stepping out, she noticed three huge men get up from their seats, and then stood in front of her, seemingly blocking her path.

"Excuse me," Ariana said, trying to move past them, but the bigger one among them pulled her back forcefully.

"Going somewhere, huh?" He laughed, and his other colleagues joined in too.

One of them tried pulling her hair but Ariana's reflexes quickly kicked in and she dodged as she tripped him and slammed her fist into his face.

"I can see you're a tough one," the bigger one said, seeing his colleague on the floor.

At that point, Ariana became really afraid. Just when she thought she was out of her step father's snare, she finds herself being bullied and harassed, and all she could think of, was for the universe to send her help.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves for attacking a lone lady" she heard someone say from behind her, his voice was dangerously deep and ice cold.

Ariana turned around, and for a moment, the world around her stood still, and the trouble before her disappearing, as her eyes fell on the most handsome man she would have ever seen in her entire life.

"We didn't think of that" one of the men said and stepped back. "Please forgive us" the bigger one begged but the stranger only smiled, a dangerous smile and he stepped closer and in the blink of an eye extended his claws and stabbed him in the heart and he slumped to the floor unconscious, the rest tried to run but he moved so swiftly that in the twinkle of an eye, all three of them were already on the floor, bleeding and whimpering.

Ariana turned around, and to her surprise, the restaurant was now empty as everyone had scurried away, afraid of who this stranger was and how he was able to knock all three men down like it was some piece of cake.

"You are okay?" The stranger asked nonchalantly as if he didn't really care that Ariana was, as he pulled out a small bottle of brandy and opened the lid and drank. He offered Ariana to drink but she shook her head. He stopped, and then turned to face Ariana, as the men crawled out of the restaurant.

For a moment, Ariana's breath got caught up in her throat as the stranger's unreadable pale grey eyes bore into hers, set within a well chiseled face that bore no expression at all. She had a mixture of feelings as she found it difficult to understand who this stranger was and why he had helped her.

"Are you okay?" The young man asked a second time, but Ariana was too busy staring at his full lips which seemed to pause in motion, and for some foolish reason, Ariana thought about what it would be like to be kissed by those firm but generous lips, held in those powerful arms.

"Hello, are you listening to me?" The stranger asked, this time shaking Ariana.

"Oh yes. So what were you saying again?" Ariana regained herself.

"What were you thinking, leaving your pack and roaming all by yourself?" The stranger asked, which came as a surprise to Ariana, as she couldn't help but wonder how the young man knew that she was a werewolf.

"I don't think I owe you that explanation, sire." Ariana replied sarcastically. "Thank you for showing up to help a damsel in distress. So if you don't mind, am I free to go" Ariana asked taking a slight bow, and making an attempt to leave.

But she noticed that the young man didn't say a word. Instead, he just stared at me for a while then he burst into laughter and shook his head.

"Free to go? So other angry rogues can catch you again" he grinned then he scowled immediately, "Nope, you are coming me with me" he said and I backed away.

"No" Ariana hesitated.

"No?" He said dangerously and Ariana backed away until her back was to the wall.

"How can I trust you?" Ariana asked, and he tilted his head as he threw away the now-empty brandy bottle.

"You can't trust me" he replied honestly, "So it's better you come with me or I knock you out and carry you myself, you don't want that do you" he said and stared at the sky that threatened to pour out more rain.

"Why?" Ariana asked and he pushed back his long dark hair.

"You are a fucking lone werewolf, you can't survive" he replied. "Now if you don't mind let's go before I knock you out" he grabbed Ariana's arm and pulled her forcing her to follow him.

Ariana tried to fight back, but she was no match for him. He finally stopped in front of a car and roughly pushed Ariana to the other car door.

"Get in" he said, raising his voice, and then, knowing that this was probably the only way she could get away from her step father for good, Ariana slipped in.

"Where are we going?" She asked, as the stranger started the engine.

"Home" he said and the car lurched forward.
