"It's either you accept this contract and make Hannah happy, or watch your mother die" He threw the papers in her face.

Chapter 1 Happy wedding

Elena clutched onto her flower bouquet, as she strolled down the aisle, with her protruding tummy.

It was a wedding the whole city was looking forward to, as the most famous model was getting married to the wealthiest man in the city.

Their wedding hall contained not less than a thousand guests, anticipating for the couple to be joined together in harmony.

Miss Robert, Elena's mum, handed her daughter over to the groom, with a smile on her face.

The two were the perfect match, as Elena didn't grow up with a father figure in the house. And Xavier lost both his parents at a very young age.

The two were inseparable, but the reason they waited four years before they got married remained a mystery to the public.

Xavier stared into Elena's eyes, not wanting to remove his face. He had waited too long to be with her, and he wanted to capture every moment with her as possible.

"Do you, Elena Claus, take Xavier Xavier to be your lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health, in riches and in poor till death do you part?" The priest threw the question at Elena.

"Yes, I do," she replied too quickly and slipped the ring into his fingers.

"Do you Xavier Zeus take Elena Claus to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health? In riches and poverty till death do you part?" He asked Xavier the same question

"Yes, I do"

He responded, and couldn't even wait for the priest to seal the marriage with a kiss.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, as he planted a long hot kiss on her lips.

She tried to free herself from him, but he was holding her too tightly.

"I love you so much, '' he whispered when he finally let go.

She blushed and looked down at her stomach before she rubbed her tummy.

It took the happy couple some time, but they finally realized that they were still in public, having their moment freely. Xavier couldn't even care less.

Xavier couldn't wait to take his bride home, as he walked her down the aisle and helped her get into the car. He drove the car back home, as he was trying his best to protect her and the baby that she was carrying.

They got home, and he opened the door of the car for her, treating her like a princess, as he carried her bridal style up the staircase. The two didn't even want to have an after-party despite their status in society.

"I've waited for this day for so long. It almost feels like I have been waiting forever" Xavier got on top of Elena, as he ran his middle finger on her bare skin.

"Me too" She raised her head to kiss him on the lips.

"Ouch!" She moaned in pain when his arms accidentally came in contact with her stomach.

"Sorry, does it hurt? Should I stop?" Xavier asked her, as he struggled to get up from the bed.

She suddenly pulled him back towards her. Looking deep into her blue eyes, he couldn't take his arms and eyes off her, as he forced his entire weight inside her.

Their moments were soon interrupted when she stopped him halfway through their romantic moment.

"Ahhh!!" She let out a huge scream, as she shut her eyes, the veins on her forehead popped out, and she clutched her stomach in pain.

"The baby" she cried out, and she pushed him away from her, with her hand firmly on his chest.

"It's coming!!!" She let out a loud cry.

Xavier's eyes popped open, as she sprang up from the bed and alerted the workers in the house.

They quickly rushed to get things in order. Xavier picked her up in his arms and ran down the staircase like a crazy person.

The car was already opened as he made her sit in front and drove straight to the hospital. He was sweating so badly, that it felt like his hands were slipping away from the steering wheel.

Xavier stood outside the labor room pacing back and forth.

He looked like his world was about to come to an end.

"How is she?" He rushed the first doctor who came out of the labor room

"Congratulations, you have a beautiful daughter," the doctor informed him.

Xavier folded his fist in excitement, as he tried his best to hold himself back from hugging the doctor.

He rushed into the room, to find his wife and baby bonding and he bit his lower lip in excitement

"Be careful" she advised, before handing the fragile girl into his arms.

He held her as though she was an egg. He looked at his wife, and back at his baby girl. His life was complete. He had everything in place and his family was complete. He kissed his wife on her forehead.

Their sweet moment was interrupted when he heard the door open, and his best friend Henry walked into the room.

"You are here!" Xavier was surprised, he was yet to inform anyone about the birth of his daughter.

"I told him" Elena was quick to clear his confusion.

Xavier wasn't ready to tell anyone about their baby just yet. But, Henry was his best friend after all, and he didn't want to question Elena's actions.

"Let me see '' Henry took the baby away from Xavier and kissed her on the forehead before he walked over to Elena.

His blood was boiling, but he refused to say anything. He didn't want to appear jealous even though he was.

"Xavier, don't just stand there. Come and take a look at our little angel" Elena's voice lightened up his mood, as he took a deep breath, and chipped into their conversation. His world was perfect again, until his baby....

I sat on the cold tile floor of our Upper East Side penthouse, staring at the two pink lines until my vision blurred. After ten years of loving Julian Sterling and three years of a hollow marriage, I finally had the one thing that could bridge the distance between us. I was pregnant. But Julian didn't come home with flowers for our anniversary. He tossed a thick manila envelope onto the marble coffee table with a heavy thud. Fiona, the woman he'd truly loved for years, was back in New York, and he told me our "business deal" was officially over. "Sign it," He said, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. He looked at me with the cold detachment of a man selling a piece of unwanted furniture. When I hesitated, he told me to add a zero to the alimony if the money wasn't enough. I realized in that moment that if he knew about the baby, he wouldn't love me; he would simply take my child and give it to Fiona to raise. I shoved the pregnancy test into my pocket, signed the papers with a shaking hand, and lied through my teeth. When my morning sickness hit, I slumped to the floor to hide the truth. "It's just cramps," I gasped, watching him recoil as if I were contagious. To make him stay away, I invented a man named Jack-a fake boyfriend who supposedly gave me the kindness Julian never could. Suddenly, the man who wanted me gone became a monster of possessiveness. He threatened to "bury" a man who didn't exist while leaving me humiliated at his family's dinner to rush to Fiona's side. I was so broken that I even ate a cake I was deathly allergic to, then had to refuse life-saving steroids at the hospital because they would harm the fetus. Julian thinks he's stalling the divorce for two months to protect the family's reputation for his father's Jubilee. He thinks he's keeping his "property" on a short leash until the press dies down. He has no idea I'm using those sixty days to build a fortress for my child. By the time he realizes the truth, I'll be gone, and the Sterling heir will be far beyond his reach.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
