"Maybe you should go earn some real money, Eddie. After all, that's how the world operates." Eddie stared at Eunice, his face a mix of pain and betrayal. "You've betrayed me, Eunice. All for what? For someone with more money?" His voice wavered. "I thought you had changed." "You're right, maybe it only happens in books and movies, but believe me, my success will outshine any grass-to-grace tale ever written or depicted on screen." Eddie, a hardworking orphan at Aveston University, is used to being overlooked and mocked, especially by his girlfriend Eunice's best friend, Tasha. Despite his struggles, Eddie gives everything for Eunice, only to discover she's cheating on him with Nathan, a wealthy and influential student. After a confrontation turns into a fight, Eddie is wrongfully arrested, his pleas ignored due to Nathan's powerful father. But fate takes a turn when Eddie is saved by Damien Aviatux, the richest man in Aveston, who reveals himself as Eddie's long-lost father. Inheriting Damien's immense fortune, Eddie's world changes overnight. Armed with wealth and power, Eddie sets out to take revenge on Nathan and his father, who once served his family. As Eddie rises to the top, he navigates betrayal, tragedy, and love, ultimately finding happiness with who loves him for who he is, not his money. "From San Roman, down to his son. They will go on their knees!"

Rise Of The Orphaned Student: Eddie Is An Aviatux! Chapter 1 Shattered Pride In The Campus Garden

"Oh, look at you, Eddie. Scrubbing toilets again. How stupid." Eddie scrubbed the lime-crusted basin, his hands raw and aching, when a voice he hated so much cut short his peaceful moment.

Eddie could see the voice owner from the rear of his eyes– Tasha, his long-time enemy since he got a scholarship into the school.

Even though Eddie has never for once liked Tasha because of her manipulative character, she is a close friend to his girlfriend, Eunice Lemar.

Tasha succeeded in turning Eunice from the once sweet, innocent girl who would go to any lengths in order for Eddie to feel loved to the materialistic girl who wouldn't let any minute of his go without threatening to leave him for another guy if he couldn't give her $400 weekly.

The firm that sponsored his scholarship to the University of Aveston was also sponsoring his essential needs up to his feeding.

The only thing that made him resort to washing the campus restrooms was to meet up with his girlfriend's excessive wants.

Eddie pretended not to acknowledge Tasha's presence as he continued scrubbing the lime-scaled wash hand basin with determination.

"How on earth would someone be this ill-fated?" Tasha repeated and this time, she successfully got Eddie's full attention.

"What's your problem, Tasha? Why are you so obsessed with ruining my peace, anytime, anywhere?" Eddie said, totally infuriated.

"Obsessed? Did I just hear you say I'm obsessed?" Tasha laughed aloud. "You must be joking, toilet cleaning boy."

"Then leave, you can see I'm very busy here." Eddie retorted. He was not having it.

"Relax, poor boy. I've looked for you in the whole school only to remember that you would be here in the toilet area, trying to impress your ungrateful girlfriend." Tasha said clumsily, as she folded her arms.

"Don't talk about my woman like that!" Eddie rushed at Tasha, sticking his index finger to her face. "Don't make me do to you, things I might regret later."

"Oh dear, your threats are just as weak as your wallet. I will forgive you for that filthy finger you're pointing. Well, I just wanted you to come see for yourself what is happening outside. I promise it will make your day, your month, even your entire existence, you will never forget this experience." Tasha pressed.

"I don't care what on earth is happening on the school premises, Tasha." Eddie insisted "Please go away from here, I need to finish this washing before they come to inspect it."

"It's about your girlfriend. She is the talk of the school right now." Tasha smirked. "Aren't you hearing the noise coming from outside, cameras are even witnessing this, it's even going to be posted on the campus platform on Whatsapp."

"But why?" Eddie queried, his tone softening as he started to take interest. "What is happening? Did she harm anyone? Did she insult any professor again?"

"Far more than that, Edd. Come see for yourself." Tasha urged, a mischievous glint registered on her face.

"You wouldn't like the other side of me if all these turned out to be a lie, Tasha." Eddie frowned. "Go on, I will walk there by myself. I can't let people see me walking with someone like you."

"Suit yourself, poor boy." Tasha's words trailed off as she left the toilet area.

"Please be fine, my dear Eunice. Please stay safe for me." Eddie murmured as he also went out to the campus premises.

On getting out of the toilet, Eddie was flabbergasted at the number of students gathered around the campus garden beside the school parking lot, something seemed to excite them as their cheers and 'awwnns' could be heard clearly from a few metres away.

"Could Eunice be the reason for those cheers, let me go take a look. My woman must have done something very proud enough to make that crowd gather.

As he started walking to the scene curiously, a hand quickly grabbed his shirt and pulled him back! It was Phil, his roommate and closest buddy.

"Hey man, let's go take a look at what's happening over there!" Eddie said, pointing to the crowd before him. "I wonder who they are cheering for." He chuckled.

Phil looked at the crowd and frowned before looking back at Eddie. "No, pal. Let's just go to the hostel. You wouldn't want to see that!"

Eddie became suspicious. Phil wasn't smiling like someone who inhaled laughing gas like he usually does anytime they were together. He had a stern face like something awful was happening.

"I don't understand you, man! I wanna see what's happening over there!" Eddie pulled himself from Phil's grip and began walking towards the crowd.

"Edd, come on! Let's go! You wouldn't like..." but Phil's voice trailed into the background noise.

Eddie struggled to find his way through the crowd when he started hearing everyone screaming 'Eunice!'

'Eunice, say yes!!'

'Eunice, please say yes!!!'

Eddie was initially confused but this confusion was finally drowned when he saw everything clearly.

His eyes bulged out as soon as he saw Eunice, his girlfriend, covering her face and smiling childishly as Nathan San Roman, the richest guy on the campus, was about to slide a ring into her finger.

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
