My Mate, My Fate Chapter 1 Not Mine

EMERY'S POV

"Mate"

"Mate!" I turned around and saw my twin sister Emilia rushing towards the same guy I recognized as my Mate.

She pounced on him and started kissing him on his cheeks sweetly while I stood rooted in front of him.

No! No! No! This can't be!

Me and my sister can't be mated to one guy, and not just any regular guy but the Beta of our pack, James.

How bad can my life be? Why can't I just be happy for once?. I can't share my mate with my sister never..I can't ever imagine such a thing, she won't give us space, and it will be just so difficult and unbearable for me.

I felt a deep pain in my heart, he's not even starring at me, and for the very first time since I know him, his lips stretched into a smile, like he was happy my sister was his mate or he was happy he found his mate.

Everyone in my pack has been eager to be his mate, and I was included. Like he was handsome, tall, and lovely. The dude has everything a girl wants. James is 25, while me and my sister are 21 years old. Geez, for so long we've been searching for our mates only for us to be mated to the sexy Beta.

"Emery?" Emilia's voice pulled me out of my trance, and I stared at her before noticing both her and James eyes were on me.

"We both have the same mate?" Her voice was laced with shock, and I knew deep down she was angry about it.

My sister used to be my world, my everything, my love, and my best friend, but everything changed when we turned 16.

On our 16th birthday, just like every other wolf, my sister shifted, but I didn't, surprising me. She felt bad for me and consoled me, saying we haven't turned 18 yet and there's still hope, but when we turned 18, it was the same.

My wolf never talked to me neither could I feel anything from her. My mom tried taking me to different witches for help, but nothing worked. Then my sister changed and thought she was superior over me. She normally does bully me and beat me up as the pack infirmary was my second home because other wolves do also pry on me too, and when questioned, she will say she's doing it to anger my wolf so she can come out.

There was only one thing I do get on her nerves with, is being unmated, just like me since all of our friends had mates already.

"We've got the same mate, so we will live together for life..."

"No!"

I shouted before I could stop myself. Living with my horrible sister for life? Never ever. How's the house going to look? It won't be peaceful because I believe Emilia will turn her pup against mine, forcing them to be sworn enemies.

If only she would ever let me get intimate with our mate.

"You don't want to stay with me again? Haha...too bad, twinie." She laughed.

Everyone was still dancing as the party was ongoing. The alpha of our pack, Roland, hosted a party inviting other alpha's to our pack just so everyone could find their mate. He's also an handsome young guy like James, but he's mated already.

His Luna is so pretty that everyone showers her with praise. Most people found their mate, and they were in each other's arms, with others dancing and some eating and chatting, but I seem to be uninterested in all of it all.

How can I live knowing the fact me and my sister share the same mate?.

"But sis, how were you able to recognize your mate without your wolf, or do you have one and just pretending?" My sister's words felt like sharp daggers piercing into my chest.

I can't even give an account of how I recognized my mate, but I know something in me forced me to say those words out. I felt it, I felt the pull, and when I turned around, he was staring at me like he felt it too, but why isn't he saying anything? Or did I imagine it?

"What makes you think I will pretend about not having a wolf?" I snapped angrily. "Then how did you recognize your mate?" Emilia asked with a frown matching mine.

I opened my mouth to say something but shut it back, then I opened it again and shut it back. Slowly, I brought my eyes down.

"I don't know" Was the only word I could form as my tears were fighting to be free. Was I mistaken all along? If he wasn't my mate, then why did I feel it? Why did I get here before my sister? Or was I feeling her emotions? Is it a result of the twin bond that I had those feelings from her?

"Emery?" His deep voice called out my name, and I raised my head up starring at his face. His brown hair fell on his face with his green flecks eyes that were reflecting brightly. He had a perfect face with a sharp jawline, and his full lips that were pressed tightly on his each other made him look more sexy.

"You don't go around claiming other people's mate as yours. I understand you're both twins, but I don't think the moon goddess will ever mate you both to me, though it will he lovely but unfortunately it's not," He stated firmly.

I took my lips, knowing he was right, he didn't felt the mate bond like I did. But maybe it was that of my sisters.

"I'm sorry you're not with a wolf, but when you see your mate, he will be the one who recognizes you first before you might feel the tingles. I guess you might have mistook it, but I'm not your mate, Emery. I don't feel attracted to you neither do I feel the pull. Emilia, here is my mate," He said with a soft yet strong voice, and he placed his hands on Emilia's own, forcing her to stare at him in shock.

Maybe I was wrong after all. I'm such an horrible sister for claiming a mate to be mine when it's that of my sister. The same voice that forced me to say the word 'mate' hasn't pushed me further yet, isn't it supposed to keep on nagging until he realizes I am his mate?.

"I apologize for my behavior, Beta James, it won't happen again." With saying that I turned back and walked out of the hall as my legs took me to wherever I don't know, and the tears that's being forcing it's way out were let loose.

A dull yet sharp pain pierced my heart like the feeling of rejection. Did he just rejected me by claiming not to feel it? But he was staring right at me, and he's claiming I mistook him for another? Such a freaky moron.

I crutched on the floor, leaning against something as low sobs escaped like mouth. How can the world be so cruel to me? First, I don't have a wolf now I don't have a mate like why me? Why do my sister get to enjoy everything and not me, or did I perhaps wronged someone in my past that somehow laid a curse on me because I can't bear this unbearable pain in my heart.

Here I was angry at sharing my mate not knowing he wasn't even mine to speak off.

"Excuse me!" A voice said behind me and I jerked up. Turning around I met a girl starring at me worriedly. She looked down on me that's when I noticed I was sitting my ass on the cold floor.

"I'm sorry but the alpha is about to make an announcement and he wants everybody outside to go in so I thought of telling you" She said and I quickly stood up.

"Thank you" I said wiping my tears. She nods at me and walks away. I hesitated in going back in. I can't bear seeing those people together really.

It would be best to go back home to my mother and lay in her arms like old back days till I fall asleep.

"Please go back in!" Someone ushered at me when I almost crossed the gates and he seems to be a warrior. "I want to go home, I'm sick" I lied. The warrior scrutinize his eyes at me as if trying to detect if I was lying or not.

"I'm sorry but please you have to manage, the Alpha demands everyone present please bear with us and just listen to what he has to say then you can leave" He said.

"Okay thank you" I headed back to the pack house. There was no need arguing with him because he won't go against his alpha. It's best I listen to what the Alpha has to say then I will head back home.

"I'm so excited for someone special to me and I believe you all will be as happy as me" Alpha Roland as everyone looked curious. I leaned against a table with my head down. I was tired as hell and also felt sleepy at the same time but the sleep in my eyes disappeared when I heard....

"My Beta James finally found his mate and she's one of our wolf Emilia Callus" Alpha Roland said forcing the crowd to roar loudly in excitement. So this is what the announcement was all about to warn us the unmated to stay clear away from him by announcing them....ooooohhhh.

I focused on the stage and my sister was grinning. Guess today might be the best day of her life. My eyes met with James and he had the same look on his face of when I recognized him as my mate.

I quickly averted my gaze and decided to respect the fact he is my sister's mate. Now the speech or announcement is over no warrior to stop me. My legs found it's way to the door when my sister's words stopped me to halt on my steps as a frown form on my face.

"I can never unhate you Emilia"

HONEY MULLINS

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I've returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders-the man I was told was a crippled recluse-intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I'd cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent-the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower's security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy-Archibald's secret son-wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald's face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

Landslide

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.

SHANA GRAY

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
