Chapter one.
Darcy's POV.
"Welcome the new student," the school director said, as he gestured for me to walk into the classroom.
I fidgeted with my gown, my hands shaking as I swallowed hard. I kept my head low and stood beside the school director.
"Tell them your name dear," the school director whispered.
At this point I wished the floor would open and swallow me, how can I speak in front of the students. The school director nudged me slightly and I nodded, my heart beating fast.
My voice quivered as I spoke, "My...,name ... .is ... .Darcy Hayes." I hesitated then I blurted out.
" I hope you all treat me as one of your own from now on."
I just wanted to beg them to treat me differently to treat me with nothing but love, something I have never experienced in my life.
To my surprise the room erupted in a warm applause and I raised my head up, their faces lit up with genuine smiles, unlike my previous classmates. Maybe just maybe changing schools wasn't a bad idea. I let out a sigh of relief.
"Go and sit down," he said, and I nodded.
This was a good start for me.
As I walked away I couldn't help but think about my past. I was angry the day I was informed that I would be transferred.
I was thinking It was like my previous school where I was being bullied every single time and to make it worse they tried to frame me at every chance they got.
The last straw was when my so-called mate rejected me. That day was etched in my memory forever, it was at the school dining table when we were all eating and he announced my rejection, humiliating me by announcing my sister as his new mate.
I sniffed back the tears that threatened to fall, I vowed never to let those tears fall again for his sake.
The empty seat creaked as I sat down, pulling out my books. Nobody sat down close to me or even offered to tell me what I will be doing today.
I looked around expectantly but everyone looked away, leaving me to figure things out on my own. I felt like It was odd.
The chatter of the students was a constant hum in the background. A teacher walked in and taught us. Throughout that day nobody talked to me or even passed my way for a moment I felt like I was a ghost.

The sound of my roommate's laughter echoed down the hall. It's been days and I haven't even made a friend at all. My roommate totally ignored me, the three girls would talk, while I would just lay at the side of my bed.
I got dressed, picked my bag and headed to the school cafeteria. I entered and placed my order, I took my food and I ate alone.
As I chewed my lips, my mind raced with worries. I might never find a friend to show me around the school or even teach me the ways of the school and be my friend.
A deep sigh escaped my lips, I accepted that loneliness might be my new normal.
I was done eating and headed to the table. I was ready to pay when I heard someone say, "Don't worry darling, I will pay the bills."
