Cursed Mate

"Why did you have to scare hun like that?" Lydia laughed in mockery of his foolishness. She brought in a basket and I guessed she and Veronica had gone to the stores together. "He was really getting in my nerves. He has no self respect and believes that he can always get what he wants because his mother is the head of the council," I gritted my teeth in despise of him. "Okay slow down before you curse me instead of him," she joked. I took almost every thing she said seriously, so s not to too angry and actually do what she said I would, I took in deep breaths to calm my hot nerves. "I am sorry," I quickly apologized for my attitude but she shrugged it off, dropping the basket she held in her hands. "You have so much to learn darling, I made research on your people and wow, they were amongst the greatest witches that ever lived on this earth," Lydia spoke and I sighed. I already knew of how great and powerful my people were, almost everyone I came across continued to rant about how amazing their abilities were and I hated being reminded by people of how they were no longer in existence. "Yes, but now we are an endangered species of witches. Heck, I might be the last one of my kind," I muttered, closing my book as I gave up on studying completely. No one was going to leave me alone in peace. "Where is your sister?" Lydia finally changed the topic from me or my people. "Wait, I thought she was with you?" My brows furrowed in worry. It was unlike her to not give out her whereabouts. "She was, but she left early and I thought she already came home," "No–" "I'm home," the overly familiar voice cut in before I could finish my sentence. A sigh of relief left both Lydia and my mouth to see Veronica walk in through our door. As usual, she had a gloomy expression. I noticed but I doubted Lydia noticed along with me. She probably just got back from the council. "Hey, I was just about to leave," Lydia said, smiling earnestly as she packed up her bag to begin to leave the workshop. "Oh, I guess we will talk later," Veronica forced a smile in her face. "See you later guys," Lydia walked out. She must have realized the Veronica was not exactly in the brightest mood so she chose to leave. "What happened now?" I groaned, shutting the door locked and closing the curtains. It definitely was a family meeting and we needed no eavesdroppers or spies to get whatever we speak. "We have till the end of today," her voice was dry and it cracked as she spoke. "What are you talking about?" My brows furrowed. "They want to carry the ritual tonight. If we disagree they plan to kick us out," she explained, slouching on a chair. "That really is not nice to say to people who did everything to support them," I frowned further, slouching on the same chair she sat
