Clara arrived at Pier 47, her nerves on edge. The pier was deserted, the water lapping quietly against the wooden posts. She scanned the area, looking for any signs of an ambush. Marco appeared from the shadows, a smug smile on his face. "You're braver than I thought, coming here alone." "What do you want, Marco?" Clara demanded, keeping her distance. "I wanted to offer you a deal," Marco said, his tone smooth. "You walk away from this investigation, and I make sure you and your friend Tom stay safe." Clara's eyes narrowed. "And if I refuse?" Marco's smile faded. "Then you'll find out just how dangerous I can be." Clara felt a surge of anger. "I'm not backing down. I want justice for my father, and I'll do whatever it takes to get it." Marco's expression turned cold. "You've been warned, Miss DeLuca. This is your last chance." Without another word, he turned and disappeared into the night. Clara's heart pounded as she made her way back to her car. She knew she had just made a powerful enemy, but she was more determined than ever to see this through. --- The following days were tense. Clara and Kai intensified their efforts, gathering more evidence and preparing for the final push. They knew the rival organization was onto them, and they had to act quickly before they were silenced for good. One evening, as Clara and Tom were going over their findings, her phone buzzed with a message from Kai: "We've got him. The mole is meeting with our enemies tonight. Be ready." Clara and Tom hurried to the location Kai had provided-a dilapidated warehouse on the outskirts of the city. They parked a safe distance away, using binoculars to survey the area. Inside, they could see figures moving about, their shadows flickering in the dim light. "Kai's already inside," Clara whispered. "We need to get closer." They crept toward the warehouse, sticking to the shadows. As they approached, they heard voices-angry and urgent. Clara peered through a broken window, her heart racing. Inside, Kai was confronting a man she recognized from the files-a high-ranking member of the rival organization. "You betrayed us," Kai said, his voice deadly calm. "You fed information to our enemies and got good men killed." The man sneered. "And what are you going to do about it, Moretti? You're outnumbered and outgunned." Kai's expression was cold.
