Chapter 1 ENCOUNTER
I think I made the right decision David I am the one who is to decide on who I can marry, divorce, or even not marry. "Hey just get out of my house before I do something unimaginable to you". Ivanka roared with anger. Do what you think you want or what you think is best for you and your family David. David stood at the door without even uttering any single from his mouth to Ivanka.
"I love you you you are a woman I chose to love with All my heart and I also swore before the living God that I will love you and I will never cheat you, why are you doing this to me?". For the first time, David vid cried like a little born baby for it's rare for a man to cry as per the African setting. It has been around five years since Ivanka left her matrimonial home this was because she differed and had a lot of conflicts with her mother-in-law over some wicked cultural practices that went against the birth of her twin babies Jeff and Jerry for one of them had to be killed and Ivanka could not stand to see this brutality happen to his only sons. Ivanka was living with David her husband in Kakamega ikolomani village as a couple. When the time came for Ivanka to give birth and as per the African traditions Ivanka was forced to travel back to her matrimonial home back in samoya village in Bungoma county and Ivanka was to be helped by her mother-in-law mutenyo who was to help her in nursing her. After having traveled to her matrimonial home, Ivanka was welcomed warmly by the mother inlaw mutenyo. She found her mother-in-law mutenyo had already prepared something for her to eat. She was given ugali and roasted meat. When Ivanka had finished taking her super she went straight to bed for to since she was expecting her babies anytime. And that night as it was expected Ivanka successfully delivered at night around 2.00 pm her mother-in-law had already prepared everything and she was there already doing the helping and the support. The first child was successfully delivered at 2.01 pm everything necessary thing was done and the child was laid on the famous animal skin and soon again Ivanka started experiencing another stomach pains to her surprise she saw another baby coming alas she was going to have bouncing baby twins and she was so so happy being a mother in fact to twins. According to the culture, a baby born at night was supposed to be called wabwile if it is a boy and if it is a girl she is supposed to be called nabwile but now since they were twins and in fact boys, they were supposed to be called Mukhwana and during that entire period, Ivanka was filled with mixed reactions as she sat down there nursing her twin babies because she the misery and the tragedy that was about to befall her twin babies.
The only thought plan she had in her mind was only but to run away before dawn but she could not make it because of the abdominal pain that she was feeling and still the blood birth flow was coming out. She just murmured a prayer and slept as she cried silently in pain. At dawn, her mother-in-law came to check on her and also her something to eat for her breakfast. When she entered the room her eyes were directly fixed on the animal skin where Ivanka and her twin babies were lying. She was very astonished she then sat down near Ivanka and started asking Ivanka. She asked Ivanka where the second baby came from pointing at babies but Ivanka answered that she gave birth to them because Ivanka knew what her mother-in-law was thinking in her mind. The mother-in-law then stood up and then proceeded to the kitchen to make breakfast for Ivanka she made her milk tea with some chapatis and pancakes. Ivanka could not wake up so the mother-in-law brought her breakfast in bed she then served her. Ivanka said thank you as struggled to wake up to start eating slowly. Since she was feeling that much pain she could not eat much she went back to nurse her babies by breastfeeding them. Ivanka then called on both mothers inlaw was so that she can help to wash and clean the twin babies Jeff and Jerry. Her mother-in-law heard her voice and came to give her a helping hand. They both helped each other clean the babies the mother inlaw then slowly laid the twin babies Jeff and Jerry. The moth mother-in-law left and told her that she will be back later in the evening to prepare something to eat she told her she is going for a merry-go-round in the next neighboring village.
After the mother inlaw had left Ivanka started again thinking about what to do and if should use this chance to escape and run away completely and never come again but she then realized how much she was exhausted she could not even walk for a long distance and for this time she needed to carry her twin babies Jeff and Jerry to go back to where she was living with his husband. Ivanka kept on thinking and kept wondering about the best thing she could do but she didn't get any possible solution so she just lay there looking and watching her twin babies Jeff and Jerry she was so much happy seeing them sleeping. Ivanka was so mixed up with so many thoughts she wished she could call her husband David so that they could celebrate and have a good time together as a couple but all her thoughts were in vain because first, they were not on good terms with David and also another issue was that Ivanka didn't have a cellphone to make any call because since were children's were born she had not communicated with David to share with him the good news.
Later that evening mutiny the mother inlaw to Ivanka came back she was carrying milk in the guard she poured the milk in a cup and told Ivanka to drink since the milk was good for breastfeeding mothers like her and also mothers who had just freshly given birth. They both sat down and started talking about everything then as they were talking a certain mother knocked on the door and Ivanka's mother-in-law stood up and went to open the door a woman entered and greeted them in an unusual mood. Ivanka started questioning herself again because her instincts were telling her that everything was not right and that something bad was about or was going to happen immediately then Ivanka stopped eating because she started sensing the evil plan her mother-in-law had towards her twin babies Jeff and Jerry. She also knew that her mother-in-law had set her up when she told her that she was going to the Marry go round that was not where she going but instead she went to alert other old village women that her daughter-in-law had given birth to twins which was against the culture and that giving birth to twins symbolized that the culture was cursed or a certain misfortune was about to befall that tribe or culture and so to avoid All this they had to do away with one baby to avoid irritating the ancestors whom they believed that were still alive in the spiritual world.
Immediately the mother inlaw to Ivanka left the house with the old woman who just come. Ivanka became so restless as she watched her two bouncing baby boys sleep with no problem. As she was still in her thoughts her mother-in-law came back again she was still happy as usual but she carrying something in heron looking at it Ivanka saw it was an apple. The mother inlaw to Ivanka then gave the apple to Ivanka and told her to eat because it was a fruit and she needed more fruits to boost her body immune. Ivanka just took the apple Ivanka thanked her mother-in-law but her heart completely kept wondering what to do she didn't eat that apple because she knew the evil plans her mother-in-law was planning against her twin babies Jeff and Jerry.
The babies were only two days old and as per the traditions once the babies could reach a week old one of the babies was supposed to be killed and if possible they were to be killed both of them. Ivanka's mother-in-law then told her that David was about to come and that she should be happy because she talked to him Ivanka was so happy but surprised at the same time because she was just surprised about her husband David. She was very and so mad at him for what she did Ivanka just brushed Everything off and she had to put herself in a waiting mood for her husband David. As she kept wondering she then remembered the woman who came and left the woman looked so scary to Ivanka little didn't Ivanka know that that woman was the one who was supposed to do the killing.
Ivanka kept praying that her husband David to arrive safely and to arrive on time so that it may be easy for them to escape with the twin babies Jeff and Jerry. David was working for a white man in Kakamega in a gold mine industry in the present town known as the ikolomani. The white man didn't give David his parental leave to enable him to come and be with his wife together plus the twin babies Jeff and Jerry. This issue was so much disturbing also to the mind David because he remembered everything and that her wife was already in her final days of expecting a baby. Apart from that the work in the gold mine industry was so much exhausting and tiresome to David sometimes he could sleep feeling sick when he could tell the white man about it he could be hardly be listened and so David on the other side also was planning to run away in a couple of weeks to come and check on her wife and also make everything right between them because they were not in good terms since they both left each other.
Ivanka was an orphan her father died during the struggle between the Bukusu and the white man the war between the Bukusu and the white man took place in a place called manga which is now located on webuye Bungoma road. The father of Ivanka worked for hand in hand with the chief sudi who ruled the people of Bukusu. On the other hand, the mother to Ivanka also when she was giving birth to her she had no relative or A person who could support her financially that she could even go to school but that didn't happen so Ivanka was left with no option but to get married at an early tender age of about fifteen years old. Ivanka met David when she was swimming a local river David had brought the cows to drink water when All this encounter happened they had a good conversation together they both shared their ideas about their families that's when David got to know that Ivanka was an orphan and that Ivanka was just living with her grandmother since her mother died. From that day they met their love kept growing and growing each day because they could meet on regular basis especially in the river.
From that day they met things started charging until one day David invited Ivanka to his house. At first, Ivanka was so afraid but she, later on, agreed to come and be with David just to visit him. When she arrived at the house David she found him seated on a stool waiting for him David welcomed him he hugged him tightly and told her to feel at home and that she should not be worried about anything. since David had no other stool for Ivanka to seat on the only remaining place Ivanka had to seat was on the mattress because even David didn't have a bed. They continued making stories until David started charging her hands and hands towards Ivanka by touching her at first Ivanka kept resisting but she later became submissive and that is how they ended up making love and Ivanka got pregnant on that lovemaking process.it was time when they moved together but after being together for two months David got a job in the gold mine industry working as a laborer in the industry. That day was when Ivanka and David had disagreements.

Ivanka started to pack everything she needed for her journey to which was her only way to escape and save her twin babies Jeff and Jerry. Before she could make any more steps she had a knock on the door she was so surprised she started shaking because she saw her mother-in-law accompanied by that evil who was planning to kill her twin baby.
Ivanka slowly tiptoed towards the door to go and open it but to her greatest and biggest surprise ever in her life it was her lovely husband David Ivanka was so much happy she hugged her husband tightly then she kissed her passionately. As they were still there staring at each other the mother-in-law and that evil murder woman came in Ivanka was so shocked but since she knew that her husband David was there she do not worry. To her greatest surprise again the mother inlaw mutiny got held off of the twin babies Jeff and Jerry from that point Ivanka knew it was now or never that they wanted to go and kill her twin son. Tears started rolling down Ivanka's cheeks but the other old woman came and held her and told Ivanka that she should cry because they were opening a door in heaven for her child to go and rest. something that surprised Ivanka was her husband David because he just stood there without doing anything or even saying anything" Are you just going to stand there and watch this happen are you not sad what about happening?? Ivanka questioned bitterly as she cried loudly to the top of her voice. Ivanka continued shouting to her husband David to do something.
