Second Luna

"Alpha!"

My mouth which is full of bloodd growls when someone's call makes me have to stop eating my dinner. The fat deer that had died from the claws of my hunt became a very delicious meal for me that night. My thick fur swayed as well as my four sturdy legs turned around. My emerald eyes stared intently at my Beta who just called me as if to say 'I will kill you if you disturb my pleasure for nothing important.'

"Alpha, you were called by your father," said Julian, a handsome young man with a sturdy body and sharp facial lines to me. He is my beta, the one who accompany and protect me and my family. I just ignore him, still comfortable with my wolf form. Instead of shifting and responding to him, i just snorted and turned back to face my food.

"Alpha, you-"

"I know Julian, there's no need to advise me," i said, cutting him.

Julian let out a long breath, handed a wide cloth to me who just turned into a human to cover my naked body.

"I'm sure they'll throw another big party and invite the whole pack, hoping that I find my mate there. What parties do you think this will be Julian? I'm getting sick of it."

Julian just silently listened to my complaints. Yeah, i know that after all, his body and brain were trained to fight and protect me, my family and the whole pack as a Beta, not to listen to my complaints and give wise advice to me, Julian didn't have the ability to that. But i really need someone to blame on, and that's him.

"Alpha, they did it for you, just believe in them. You just have to attend the party that your parents all arranged. You're 27 years old, eight years too late to find a mate for you and Luna for our pack. After all, you need a mate for yourself and the pack needs Luna to give birth to your child. Think about it."

I suddenly stopped my steps and turned back, tightly choking Julian's neck who bravely advised me about the importance of a Luna for me and the pack. I certainly know all of that, i know best how easily my big body got tired while doing shifts so i had to train my self continuously to get used to it, i know best how painful it is to have to spend my Ruth alone without a partner, i know best about it all, so Julian didn't need to advise me. If i could, i would only choose one of the hundreds women who attended my birthday party to be my mate and my Luna, the hell with the bond that the Moon Goddess had built and created for each wolf. But unfortunately i can't do that, i will only get pain every time i make out with a woman who is not destined to be my partner. Sometimes i regret being born as a wolf who is a loyal creature.

"How dare you, Beta!"

Julian tried to pull my hand that was strangling his neck tightly. Unfortunately, his strength was nothing compared to me. I'm the Alpha of this pack, he's nothing for me. But after a while, i finally decided to loosened the grip, looking at him flatly.

"Sorry Alpha," said Julian quietly with a cough that comes out of his mouth several times. He then continued to follow me to the large dining table where my dad and mom were waiting.

"Dad mom, what's calling me?" ask me to them.

My mom and dad who were enjoying their dinner looked at me at the same time.

"Sit down Melv. Julian, please ask the maid to get Melvin's clothes," said my mom to Julian. Julian nodded at the command of her. The man then left to do his job. I, who had been standing since earlier, started to sit up. My body was still covered by a wide sheet of cloth which was given by Julian a few minutes ago.

"Melv, you are 27 years old and tomorrow is your 28th birthday. We want to make a big party to celebrate your birthday. This time-"

"I know dad, go ahead and do what you think is good for me. Invite the whole pack, i never mind that," i said, cutting my father. Honestly, i'm so sick of this kind of party. Every year they always hold it hoping i'll meet my Luna there, but just like that, nothing happens. I think, it would be the same this time

My dad, the previous Alpha just sighed deeply. He then looked at my mom to continue explaining to me. My mom who understood the gaze then nodded and gave a reassuring smile to me. Well, let me tell them it won't change anything.

"Melv, not only the entire pack but also the other creatures, Witches, Elves and Vampires. We will invite them this time, you okay with that?"

I was wide-eyed, just as i was about to raise my voice, my dad cut me off to explain.

"We've asked your grandfather, Elder Jonathan, and he said your case is the first case of all the Alphas in our family. And according to the prophecy, your mate... isn't a wolf, but someone from another creatures. That's why you never found your mate before in our pack or other packs in this island," my dad explained. Yeah, okay i know. But i still can't take that reason.

"But dad-"

"Melv, after all you have to find your mate, you have to find a Luna for the pack! Me and your mom have to step down from our leadership, we are old enough Melv, while Alpha without a Luna by his side like you, will never be considered as a leader by his pack. So get ready, tomorrow we will throw a bigger party than before."

I stared blankly at the group of guests my family invited. Wearing the best clothes they have to show how high their rank in their pack, as well as the other creatures invited tonight. I thought wizards would look like old grannies with wands in their hands, but they weren't, they were even more fashionable than the other creatures. The elves still stick to their traditional, very luxurious clothes, like a wedding dress. The Vampires are still a big enemy for me, even though the previous Alphas managed to make a pact with them. I stil hate their fangs, their pale skin and everything about them.

"You found it?"

I took a deep breath when my mom approached me suddenly and asked the same question every time the party was held.

"No, I told you all of this would be for nothing mom, I wouldn't- MATE!"

My brown eyes flashed sharply turning to emerald. I growl as a sweet scent resembling rain falling among the pine trees brushed my nose. My mom smiled widely at my reaction.

"Chase your mate Melv! Find her!"
