Jody frowned as she peered out the window of their car. She could no longer see any houses in the area but mountains. Her hoped-for and long-awaited good debut for her 18th birthday has vanished from the idea of her parents living in a place she has never been to and she thinks is probably not on the map yet. It surprised her when her father said the night before they traveled; that he had resigned from his job as a Senior Engineer in a famous company and so had her mother, who was also a professor at the university she was attending.
Jody's father accepted an offer from a friend who lived in the area. That also excites Jody when her dad says about the offer, thinking that it was near the beach or the city. But as they traveled, all she had in mind was just imagination. The sky was too close as if she could reach it if she stretched her arms. The trees on the roadside are tall like mahogany trees. Jody thinks illegal loggers have not yet discovered that mountain range.
Jody sees a strange animal she had never seen before outside their car window. She stared at it carefully to identify exactly what she saw.
"What the hell is that?" Jody asked.
Ronald and Sola also looked at the large animal approaching them. Ronald quickly steps on the gas and drove the car. Jody looked at the back of the car as the creature chased after them. She could not distinguish what kind of animal was chasing them.
Jody grabbed her dad's chair. "Pa, hurry! That animal is about to catch up with us." Jody said in a panic. "Well, he's close."
Jody could see it getting into their car. It was on top of their car and their vehicle swerved. She held the seat in front of her, but the car spun quickly. Jody's body and a head bump inside the car several times. Soon, the vehicle stopped spinning.
"What the hell happened?" Jody asked. She looked at her parents. There was also blood flowing from their heads. "So, what is that gigantic animal?" Jody asked.
Ronald turned slightly to Jody, raised one hand, and put a finger to his lip. He signaled not to make noise and pointed to the roof of the vehicle. Jody got what her father meant. That gigantic beast was on top of their car. The vehicle turned slightly until it was facing the cliff. Sola grabbed Ronald's arm.
"Papa ..." Jody whispered.
Extreme fear and nervousness attacked Jody earlier, but at that moment, she felt like her heart wants to give in. She closes her eyes.
'It's just a dream... it's just a dream.'
Jody thought that repeatedly, but they were still on the edge of the cliff as she open her eyes. They felt the car become lightweight that the creature's foot had recently almost penetrated the roof of their car. As the creature left the roof of the car, their vehicle slid down the ravine.
"Papa ..." Jody cried.
Their car plunged. Ronald still uses the steering wheel to avoid large trees.
"Jody, remember that I love you so much," said Ronald. "I love you even though you're not my child!"
"Papa, I love you so much, too," said Jody. "I'm your daughter!"
Jody held her mother's hand and her father's shoulder. Moments later, that large animal reappeared next to their car and hit the back of the car. And everything went black.
Jody sees her parents despite her blurry vision. They were in the middle of travel at the time. 'It's all a dream,' Jody thought.
Jody turned around. Their car is in good condition. Jody's parents smiled as she expressed her confusion. They recently had an accident.
'Perhaps it's all a dream,' Jody thought.
"You'll love Rivendell, Jody. That's where we came from." Sola said. Jody's mother.
"You'll meet my best friend in Rivendell. He's rich," said Ronald with a smile, Jody's father.
"No one seems to live in this area. I don't see any houses. And my phone has no signal. How can I talk to my friends?" Jody said, annoyed.
"Forget about them Jody, you are not like them," said Sola.
"You know my friends, Ma. They are kind and they are cool. You already met them over five times." said Jody.
"We've already talked about this, Jody. I thought everything was clear to you," said Ronald.
"You didn't tell me the truth, Pa, what your friend offered you and you exchanged your good position in the company and Mama, too, she exchanged a few years of teaching at the university," said Jody. "I'm not used to this place. I don't even know if I can live here."
"Jody, what are you saying?" Ronald asked. "You will like the place. I promised you."
"You said you had a surprise for me? Is this it? Taking me to this kind of place?" Jody asked.
The couple looked at each other at what Jody said. "We brought you here for your safety and the safety of those around you, Jody," said Ronald.
"What do you mean, Pa?" Jody asked.
"My friend and his son will help you with your transformation, so it will not be difficult for you," said Ronald.
Jody frowned. "Transformation? What are you saying, Pa? Are you just kidding? "
Jody started the car window after hearing a loud growl. A big, dark beast approached their vehicle unexpectedly. When Emy awoke suddenly, she gasped for air. When she heard the weeping, Jody slowly opened her eyes. Her eyesight was hazy because the blood that gushed from her head covered her eyes. She kept hearing her mother's voice calling to her.
"M-Mama..." Jody murmured. "M-Mama..."
The next thing Jody saw was the wood that penetrates the driver's seat where her father was. She was almost stabbed then. Jody gasped as she stared at the wood with blood at the end.
"P-papa ..." Jody whispered. She couldn't stop crying. She had just talked to her dad, but now he is dead.
"J-Jody.." Sola said.
"Mom," Jody said. She knew her father couldn't avoid the large branch that penetrates their car until it almost reaches her in the back seat.
"We will escape," said Sola.
Jody heard the car open in front, so she also opened the car door, but it broke and she could not open it. Sola was already out of the car and was trying to open the door, but she can't because it was stuck, so it was difficult for them to open it.
Jody tried to open the door by kicking it, and she did. She quickly got out of the car. Her mother immediately supported her and they got out of the car. They traversed the cliff until they came to the bottom. A lengthy river.
"Mom, you have a wound," said Jody.
She saw her mother's wound on her head. Sola turned to Jody. She caressed her cheek.
"Your Papa and I are happy that we protected you until our last breath," said Sola.
"Ma ..." Jody cried. "What are you saying?"
They heard loud footsteps approaching where they were. It startled Jody when her mother suddenly pushed her until she fell into the river. The river flowed fast, so when she raised her head above the water, she hit a large rock that caused her dizziness. But as she swayed away and her gaze darkened, she saw a large winged creature raise one hand and attack her mother. After that, she couldn't restrain her eyes from closing.
